Do you know how much CAVE shooters cost? I have them all. Square Enix games? I have them all. Hmmmm... Maybe you're right, I'm insane :p But seriously, 5 bucks, how much is that really, 2 beers?

Listen to how cheap you sound. No ads, sure, but it's people like you who expect a LOT for next to NOTHING that are making these devs resort to ads in the first place. "at TWO bucks you should already get a full game". Get outta here with that shit. This game is worth quadruple it's price, and if more people were willing to pay more, this ad nonsense wouldn't need to exist in the first place.

Is Glitchsoft at the same level as cave? or square enix? No, they are new developers. Trust me the only reason square prices their iphone games that high is because of the name Square enix and the popularity with there ports.

I create awesome paper airplanes that I will sell
    Here
Well, CAVE has been losing a lot of money lately so it sure isn't working for them. And as someone else said Square Enix makes a lot of their money on name-recognition alone. Hopefully sales are going well for this game though!

Still doesn't change the fact that $5 is a very small price for a good game. Sure, brand recognition means something, but it's not everything. I live in Europe so here is a small comparison:

    1 large beer in a bar: 2€

    1 latte: 1.8€

    1 pack of 5Gum (http://www.5gum.com): 1.4€

    1 movie ticket: 8€

1 digital copy of Star Marine: 1.59€

    -----------------
    1 Euro = 1.2682 U.S. dollars (approx.)

You do the math. Do you still think $5 is too much for a game that probably cost $20.000 (or more) to make?

    Dude. You're going too far.

In my opinion regardless of price point based on established AppStore games the free ones have ads, the paid ones dont. That is an established precident in the AppStore, in fact often a selling point of Lite vs Paid versions of a particular game.

So yes people will (and based on current App Store behaviors) be upset that they paid for a game and then get ads also. I don't care if the game is $1 or $100, it's not traditionally how ads are used.

You keep claiming this game is worth more, without the ads I would agree and would have happily paid that for an ad free game, after all that's usually how games are marketed. Why should this game or developer be any different?

I've said it before, but NOTHING will kill the mobile gaming market faster the acceptance of ads in everything we BUY.

Ads are for Lite or Trial versions of paid games...

I agree with you, we're on the same side of this argument. I'm not going too far, this forum is just one of those ultra-passive ones where people gasp if you don't speak like a grandma all the time.

I don't like the ads in this game any more than you do, but if there's going to be IAP in this game, which I also don't like, I'm glad there's at least the trade-off to optionally watch an ad (or, as I do it, just start the ad and come back when it's done, and repeat) to get what you'd have to otherwise pay for. It's bullshit, and I'm not happy with glitchsoft for including this is their game, but unfortunately, once IAP is in a game, it's there for good. Because if one sucker bought the IAP, then getting rid of it is unfair to them since they paid for something that is now free. The solution? Dont get rid of it. So with this game, it's not going anywhere. I'm not happy about it, but again, AT LEAST (not at most) there's a way around it. It's annoying, but it's there to stay.

What I'm hoping for is that Glitchsoft will learn from this mistake. And make no bones about it, it IS a mistake. In this case it's one that can't be erased, so any option around it is welcome at this point. In my previous post I shouldn't have said "the ads for gems is a fair trade off", I rather should have said the same statement without the word "fair". It's just a trade off. Not something I am going to accept in future games, and if this game weren't so good in my opinion, I wouldn't be buying any more Glitchsoft titles...and if this system is included in their next game or future games, I won't be.

For now though, I have grinded through ignoring the zynga ad about 100 times to unlock everything, and now I don't need to worry about ads any more for this title. I don't plan on making a practice of it, I wouldn't do it again. Too much hassle. I'm just hoping they charge a little more for their next title so they don't have to recover costs with shit like ads and IAP's, and just give us the core game we paid for.

I'm starting to fall in love with this game. Even controls don't seem "floaty" anymore. Good work, Glitchsoft.

I hate the ads in general as well, but I actuallly WISH I could watch the Zynga ad 100 times to unlock everything.

For some reason, the ads prior to the game work just fine, but when I go to the "Get Gems" and try to watch a video, the game either crashes on me or tells me there's "no videos available". I've only been able to watch it like two times. So I'm stuck with grinding levels (not that bad of a thing, but it is starting to wear me down a bit on my love of the game).

WOW! This guy talks out of both side of his mouth! Funny. :p
Simple fact is, lite version-OK to insert ads. Paid version-it's NOT! That's the way it's been and most of us know that and appreciate it being that way! We don't want to see ads in something we BUY! Period.

I don't think he's talking out both sides of his mouth, but somewhat trying to justify the ads by taking on the developer's perspective. From that perspective one can see why a dev did it; right or wrong, good or bad.

Thank you for saving me the breath. I don't want the ads there any more than you do. I'd rather just pay 5 bucks for the game and that's that, the devs would be happy and so would we, but obviously that's not happening.

I could see what you mean if that's how it was meant to be pronounced LOL.

For future reference, it is pronounced KWAY-zonk, not KWAH-zonk. I'll give you the short story of how I wound up with this nickname.

I am heavily into the sciences, particularly astronomy/cosmology. One day when I was a teen, my then-roommate was moving a new dresser into his room, and I was in the living room, watching a DVD lecture from the University of California at Berkeley on quasars & pulsars.

My roommate, who couldn't be less interested in those kinds of topics, was struggling to get the heavy dresser down the stairs, and laborously shouted, "Hey...could you quit learning about the f***in'......QUAZONKS for a second and help me move this dresser?!", and I laughed super hard, because he thought that's what they were actually called.

Kind of a nerdy way to get a nickname, I know, but at least when I enter it as an ID somewhere, I know I won't ever have to see "sorry, the nickname you have chosen is already taken". ;)
