Looks majestic. Not quite Drifter (different game) but need something to fill the gap until that comes along. Space related that is.
I'm not usually a fan of on rails. I didn't care much for Arc Squadron. But this looks terrific. My first experience with an on rails shooter was Panzer Dragoon on the Sega Saturn. Man that was a fun game. Drifter can't come soon enough.
Man played Panzer Dragoon on the original Xbox. That and Rez HD probably still stand as my favorite on-rails games of all-time.
Surprisingly I didn't get to play it on the Xbox but I totally agree with you there. Rez HD was some crazy cool stuff too. Good times indeed.
Already finishing it? How much time did you put into it? It is not going to stop me from buying this but I want to know...
Tis a bit short with 10 stages, but man is this game oozing with polish. The controls are fantastic, and the visuals on the ipad air is just unbelievable. Explosions everywhere, screen pans, there's debris, death and destruction everywhere. I now have 5 titles on my growing 2014 GotY list. For $4 this game is a definite steal. Best 3D space shooter on iOS for me, hands down, raising the bar for other space shooters, be it on-rails or otherwise. I enjoy ARC Squadron, GoF and Strike Wing a lot, but IMO this tops them all. Strike Wing is getting a huge update though, and SW has the better longevity, so we'll see when the update hits. But for now, Star Horizon makes a killing in the genre. Well done devs, well done.
Sounds fantastic and am really, really longing for 11 EST to arrive How is the replay value? I know there's branching paths so I would guess that would add some longevity. Are there different difficulties? One thing I liked about Arc Squadron is that even though it was somewhat repetitive there was a ton of content stage wise.
Yeah each stage is a good bit of length. There is replay value in which you can replay each stage, while choosing different paths which can affect the story and can totally change your stage objectives, which in turn effectively makes them as "more stages".
Sounds good. Off topic, but what are your other four GoTY candidates so far? Want to make sure I haven't missed something since we have similar gaming tastes.
Bardbarian, Castle Doombad, Wave Wave and Bug Heroes 2, and now with Star Horizon. Star Horizon needs a bit more replay value to strengthen its place on the list. Maybe a more difficult mode, or an endless mode. And it also needs more upgrades, and more ships, since here, it seems you only use one ship, but the upgrades change the look of your ship.
