I hope this thread gets obliterated once the game hits. That amount of whining and moaning shouldn't be allowed a place in history.

Hell is freezing over! We'll see how well this goes. I paid into the PC kickstarter, and I have to say this experiences has put a little bit of a damper on my thoughts about kickstarter. Not totally killed it though, I still pumped a bunch of money into Star Citizen :) But I feel a little better about their track record.

The whole story of Star Command has been a circus thus far. People whinging has been the least of this titles problems. But still, the high horse is always the most comfortable one.

@MidianGTX No worries, I guess we'll just agree to disagree, it's just that reading what I perceive as folderol really raises my ire.

I guess it's finally come time for them to put their money where their mouth is so I'll just shut up and see how it plays out, no matter how tempted I am to make some remark about them not really putting their money where their mouth is

I have to admit I'm intrigued as to what the previews will say, it's a good spread of iOS review sites.

Imo it's best to pay low and sparingly on ks projects. Secondly Kickstarter's middle name is "delays". ;)

That said, it's great to help give the chance of a project become reality for someone, imo. I'm not in it to "gain", though a nice shiny at the end of the day when cash has been thrown in is always nice. :)

With the Warballoon devs, their biggest mishandling of their kickstarter project has been: 1. Giving out dates too early 2. Not keeping to a regular and expected and repeating communication update schedule.

I honestly have no problem with any dev saying they think their game (read: baby) is the most beautiful in the whole world. That's their entitlement and motivation to think that. :) If they say they wish to emulate their inspirations in games, then so be it... my reading of the reddit comments is disappointment with the communication via the project, exasperated by delays and letting down of SET/SAID expectations; a lack of appreciating that kickstarter is taking a chance and ideally not putting more money in than you are willing to risk.... and finally "something else" a few of the bioware team would know all about, posting in public forums. You can't win in a war of words, in such a format.

So yes the kickstarter could have been done better, but here we are and the game looks like it will make a good number of players happy. And remember here's a one in a million chance for a bunch of new game devs to see their dream happen. I think that's really cool thing about kickstarter, as much as hoping the game turns out to be fun.

Been looking forward to Star Command for a while and think it's got a lot of promise to be popular on smart devices and also PCs. :)

    felt this was relevant

I actually dont care how long it takes. As long as it releases mostly bug free (no game breakers) and it good fun.

Are you talking about the Developer or about those that had actually donated for the Game a few Moons ago?

Anyone know why Eli was so pissed about the Game earlier this Week?

I'm talking about the people in this thread, whether they donated or not. Game developers can be assholes if they want, I'm just interested in the end product. I mean come on, I'm posting this from a PC running Windows.

I'm not sure what Eli's post is directed at though, rage from the developers or rage from everyone else? Considering how much crap the devs have had to put up with I'm not surprised they're starting to crack. It's not as though they were happy about the delays either, game development is a bitch.

Preview/ First impressions coming tomorrow (Tuesday) at PocketTactics.com...!

    *Fingers crossed*

It's scary to think that 4 people (each of the editors for the numerous websites the build was provided to) will decide the fate of the game...

I thought it had been submitted already. Sorry I'm a bit daft with the process but doesn't it mean its coming out regardless.

How do the eds decide the fate of it?

Not at all, we as think sites like Touch Arcade influence sales but its negligible. Think of all the games in the App Store that do really well but you've never seen on here.

The biggest boost to app sales is visibility within the AppStore. I would love somebody ot do the maths but I bet 99% of iPhone owners have never heard of TA, Pocket Tactics, Slide to Play etc etc.

Plenty of developers report a sales boost after being featured or reviewed by TouchArcade, but if you want to succeed without their help, all you have to do is create a terrible town-building game that requires you to wait 12 hours for construction or buy fairy dollars to skip the process.

While that is true, 99% of idevice owners I know don't have one single paid app on their device; 90%, at the least, never play games on their idevice. Of the remaining 10%, 75% or so have one game installed, usually "... with friends", 4 pics one word, etc.

I just wanted to clarify that these are the ios device owners I know or have encountered in real life, not on the interwebs.

I think the point you're making is that when people are actually going to spend money on an app, they're more likely to check out websites for reviews, right? Makes sense to me. Nobody is expecting Star Command to beat all that freemium junk in the charts, but those people I call "actual gamers" (regardless of how stuck up it sounds) might just help make it profitable.

Don't they even have WhatsApp installed? Every iPhone user I have run across in real life has it...

As ,now finished game, previews are even nearer and nearer to being avaliable for public eyes , fear of my own high expectations for game are being higher.I expect a lot from this game in gameplay value , but I also have a terrible feeling on the side that it will just end as one more mediocre game and get deleted soon.Really hope my instinct is wrong this time.

I really can't wait for all the game sites weigh in on this now. Mostly hoping they have bad things to say so it sets off Justin Coombs again.
