This kinda reminds me of the game called Infinite Space for the DS. What about Sick Bays, Radar, artillary rooms, shield generators, gym/workout, discipline, study area, and such? Even science research area and shopping malls or something lol
Hells yes bring it aboard, making sure you skip those pesky quarantine protocols and that only your android science officer is aware of the real danger. Oooh. Reminds me - maybe you can hire a good crew member for cheaper than normal but there could be a catch that comes up at a later unfortunate time (such as he's a spy, saboteur, enemy alien shapeshifter, a wanted criminal, or even secretly an android programmed to smuggle a dangerous alien lifeform somewhere for research). Are we going to be able to see an automatically created "captains log" an perhaps see histories of individual crewmembers that get updated with each new mission?
Captains log - the short answer is yes. The longer answer is how much will be there is still to be determined. We know we will have stats, kills, promotion history - things like that. Also a list of KIA crew members. Beyond that it's still being ironed out.
We're doing our best, but it's always a case of when its done its done. So I would give it a 50/50 right now. Maybe a bit less....
i been playing way to much game dev story . cant wait to play and waste many hours in this promising looking game
A recorded cause of death for KIA crew members could prove amusing such as reading "Poisoned by a glombort's toxic fart while on a xenobiological survey of the planet Wherevia." would never get old.
People Storage Areas, like a cargo bay for people, so you could get contracts from different planet's military to transport soldiers to different worlds, deliver refuges to different planets, etc. How many decks can the spaceship have? I want to rename a bar ten-forward and put it on deck 10. Oh, and android crew members.
Four questions: 1. You mentioned an "exploring" element. Will there be a fixed map of the universe to travel around and reveal? I love the idea of unlocking different sectors of space as the game progresses. Especially if each sector has different aliens, technology and aggressiveness. 2. Is there an overall storyline and objective? eg: Battlestar Gallictica was about finding Earth. 3. I assume the characters leave the ship. ie: beam/land/dock on planets and space-stations? 4. Will there be a "ships computer" or android staff?
1. There will be exploring in the game. How robust it is still to be determined. The central focus of the game is management of your ship and thats where were putting the focus of our efforts as far as asset generation, gameplay balance etc. Really the exploring element is a means to an end - it triggers the events and new actions to do. But, ideally, sector exploration with home species is the goal. 2. No overall story - just story arcs. Think episodes more than huge plot. Perhaps in some expansions, but we think the initial game is just an introduction to a universe. 3. Yes, characters leave the ship. In the initial release you won't see them go to other places, just get reports/decisions to make. The logistics of making assets for other environments are just too much for our small team - but there are definite plans to expand the scope of where you get to take your crew after release. Assuming good sales of course (buy the game and tell 10 friends to buy the game). 4. There is a ships computer in later eras of the game. Androids are also possible, assuming you discover the right research branches and build the right facilites. Another major goal is to have two different play sessions have two very different experiences. A science based ship that can build and research really neat technologies vs a battleship with the ability to pound enemies and interrogate prisoners. Pardon the cliche, but the choice is yours.
Darn, that means I probably won't get it before I deploy. Oh well, maybe I'll find Wifi access somewhere if we hit port. I'm looking forward to the game - any new screens or gameplay videos you want to show off? P.S. No, I can't say when I deploy.
We will find a way to get it to you. Post on here and we will find you - even if we have to get you on the beta list. You gotta have some game action on those long stints.
