For 99 cents you really can't go wrong. I bought It yesterday and played through the game in about four hours. You could probably do it quicker but, I went to other areas of the galaxy I had played before to help level up my crew and ship. I only lost two crew members and never lost my ship. The next play through allows you to choose from more ships with more areas to build on. This allows you to play the same story mode again but, experiment with other weapon, eg grenades and Sentry Bots. I believe this next play through is also on a harder difficulty level. I really enjoyed what the game had to offer. You basically build up your first ship as you get tokens from playing missions. As I said before, you can play those missions over again to help level up, which is a great! Weapon , shield and medical rooms are constructed . Crew members must be bought to man each room or the rooms will not function. If a fire breaks out during a space battle, you will need to use your yellow engineering crew to put out the fire. The shield room will not charge if they leave the room unmanned to fight the fire. I always leave one person at least in each room so it will function. Red shirt crew members, man the weapons and also repel any enemies that may beam onto your ship. These battles are really fun to watch. As they level up, they will learn skills such as taking no damage for a few seconds to firing at a greater range. The blue medics ,will of course, heal your crew. If you happen to lose some of your crew, you can purchase more or get others if you make certain choices in the story. These characters, that join you in the story ,have higher medical/engineering/weapon stats than the crew you hire from your Earth base. I believe ,in the second play through ,there is a room you can build that will bring back dead crew members. Battles take place in space. The weapons on board ,must charge before you can fire them. Once charged , you play a little mini game were you must tap just at the right time to line up cross hair lines or rotating circles. I thought these mini game were quite fun. The weapon then fires a blast at the enemy ship to eventually take out the shields and then destroy the ship hull. Likewise, the enemy is firing at your ship and your crew members are also working to repair the shields. I found having three engineers in their room was enough to repair the shields quickly. There is also a room that allows your ship to dodge enemy fire. When the dodge button charges, simply hit it before the enemy missile hits your ship and you will dodge the attack. Once the enemy ship is destroyed, you will gain tokens to upgrade your rooms so they will charge faster , do more damage , or have more shield capacity. Other areas of the galaxy map may then open up for further exploration. The red ones are new missions. The yellow ones are areas you have been to before but , can play again. When you warp to a new location, the story will unfold as you talk to Star Command for new missions or chat with new alien life forms. At times, what you say in your conversations will affect the story progression. I suppose you could try a different response on the next play through to see how much it affects the story. You may make an enemy or a friend. As you can see, the game is all about managing your ship, while completing missions. Go to location A, talk to someone and usually get into a space battle. Get tokens for upgrades after the battle. Rinse and repeate. If this sounds like your thing , then I highly recommend Star Command. Just don't expect any battles or exploration on the surface of planets or any space trading. Thanks
Its a short game, and the replay value is bot that great. I did play through it 3 times, but thats just me. Worth $.99 no more
Been promising a big update for months but still nothing. Think it was feb they replied to me saying very soon
Looks like they're focusing more on their new game Star Command Galaxies. Shame it's not coming to mobile, as this this is probably closer to what people expected the original game to be Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
About 3 months ago, a developer messaged me n said a big update was very close to been submitted... It has never appeared
Devs instead of abusing the sale function of the site, why don't you guys pop in ms leave a few messages about what's going on?
I just started playing this today. Really enjoying it. I realise people had other expectations for the game, but taken as it is its a very nice experience, I definately applaud the game and will be looking at the new pc version with much interest.
I had a message about April last year from the devs, saying that the huge update will be out very soon. It was never to be seen, and this was 9 months ago
You played through it 3 times and it's not worth $.99?? You are why ios gaming is in the state that it is. I just finally started playing it and am enjoying it. Disappointed to hear the new game won't be on mobile.
Maybe they're just masochistic? I played through it once "just because" in its early days, tried a second run to see if anything was better / different, and it sucked just as much. I'm not angry I paid $3 for it, it's just $3, but the game was so poorly designed and executed I wouldn't have paid a penny for it had I known how it was going to be (nor would I have played at all). I don't care what these guys do in the future, they will never see another penny from me because they're simply terrible game developers with no vision and no competence to execute their no-vision. Let's see how positive you are about the game after you reach the "ending" and give any thought to the way the various elements (don't) fit together
