I'm a game developer, I know what it costs to make games. I've seen $15 million thrown away on crappier games than this one. The fact that they made this off of $32k crowdsourced is actually quite amazing, so seeing ignorance towards the devs is just sad. And I'll guarantee they read all of your comments in this thread.

How about I show up at your drive thru window at McDonalds and tell you you're terrible at what you do. Let's see how that makes you feel. Also, can I get some more ketchup?

Good to hear this from someone with actual field experience. Hope it gets across what I've been saying for the past 6 pages.

Couldn't help but think of this little bit, though.

EDIT: Can't get attachments to work, unfortunately. :/

No matter how many bugs, how horrific the iap structure, how crap the game.

...theres always fanboys leaping to their defence.
seen it time and time again, even with major game breaking flaws, the fanboys defend it tirelessly. but thats todays generation of gamers for you.

Here's the thing. There are no fanboys here. There are regular people who enjoy the game, and there are bizarre specimens of humanity that somehow, despite not liking the game, just can't leave this thread alone. The obsession of these people with this game they don't like is as fascinating as it is irritating. Not everyone is gonna like it. Post your thoughts and move on. Why keep returning to the thread? What is your obsession with this game?

Speaking of today's generation of gamers, what the hell is their problem? Are they really so bitter and mentally twisted that seeing other people enjoy a game they dislike actually causes them pain? Tech wars are pathetic, whether it's games, Apple vs Android or Sony vs Microsoft. Genuine debate is fine, but it appears nobody remembers exactly how to do that any more. Modern gamer scumbags.

Bah, it's just because everyone prefers to make assumptions and then debate from there. I hate to use ipad2user as an example, but since his post is right there... Well, he assumed people defending the developer/game were fanboys. Not people with reasonable notions or thoughts, just ravage folks who will stop at nothing to defend.

I think if people talked with a little more of an open ear and a little less assumptions that they already know exactly what's going on, we'd probably have better discussions and debates.

I mean, people are allowed to be frustrated. It just sucks when we let frustration blind decent judgement.

I really enjoy this game so far. Can there be more? Of course, but taken for what it is, not what it "should have been," it's a fun game. My big complaint, however, is that shortly after leaving the solar system, the game slowed to a crawl on my iphone 4, rendering it completely unplayable.

Hope an update comes soon addressing this. Otherwise I dropped 3 bucks on something I can't play until I upgrade... Which may be a very long time from now.

This phenomenon cannot be laid at the door of modern gamers. Think Betamax vs VHS, Unix vs MS, et al. Usenet was full of these types of flame wars.

    Nothing new under the sun.

Your best bet would be to buy Star Command again for PC. Developer seems to be making that the lead platform after solving his Kickstarter obligations by releasing the mobile versions...

Huh? They are already putting in fixes for the slowdown in the first patch. As for PC, they are putting new features there first simply because they can beta test more easily on that platform. Stuff they add there will come to mobile as well.

The developers have stated that the PC and Mac versions are going to be the "most badass", with the intention being to add major new features such as away missions and planet exploration that may not necessarily make it to the iOS version. They're also on record as stating that such features will not be free updates, but will instead be added as IAP/DLC "expansions" that will need to be purchased separately, so we'll see how that plays out.

Hmmm... I don't buy anything through DLC/IAP so I think I'll have to scrap my plans to buy SC. I had hoped future updates would bring the features originally promised and promoted. Oh well, can't win em all.

Am I right in reading that the PC/Mac versions will have updates through DLC/IAP... or are they supposed to have all the content of the game?
