Totally agree, on one hand I understand them needing to get something out the door to start getting some cash flowing. But, in the long( really long?) term it would have been better for them to finish the game they promised. I really don't see any enjoyable game here, as it stands now. I jumped on this as soon as it came out but after the first five or six missions I just have no desire to play it anymore. Every mission is the same, there are no choices to be made, you are just along for the ride and it's very boring ride. There is a ton of potential here, and hopefully the missing features can be added through updates. I'm not holding my breath though as it took two years to make this game. To add the missing features...with their track record, at least 6 more years.
How do you fix hull breaches? When I put an engineers near there they fly away and die. And is there any point in putting anyone in the bridge or engine room?
I'm not an expert but what I do it wait until the fighting is over then fix the hull breaches. Every time I try to fix them while still fighting the same happens to me.
Either regenerate your shields back or use the engineer's special extended range ability when he's in a room (once you've unlocked it).
Anyone else's game slowing down? Seem's the further i get the more the game is lagging.. I've closed all apps and done a fresh power cycle to the same effect. So anyone else or just me, i mean i do have like 30GB worth of app's installed so that's probably slowing down my phone a bit but i still have 30GB or so free so i dunno just asking. iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2 (64GB)
It isn't how long you have played, but how far into the game you are. I had zero slowdown when I started out, but one hour in, the slowdown appeared no matter what...
Yes i understand that, as i said the further into the game i get the more it starts lagging. Reseting was to try and free ram up, I't wasn't on the assumption that the app was becoming less stable over time. Thank's for the response anyway, atleast it's not just me.
A lot of people have gotten it, there's been some hoodoo voodoo fixes mentioned but nothing worked for me.
alot of apps installed means having less ram avaiable because the small things like app icon images need to be hold in ram a game that needs a high amount of ram is rather likely to crash on a filled device than an empty one.
Just created this account to have my say. The first time I heard of Star Command I instantly fell in love with the idea and wanted it badly. I've waited and waited patiently and impatiently but finally it was here, the game I bought my ipad for!! yes!! but.. uh... Noooo. My god what a botched piece of junk, seriously what have the devs been doing for 2 years? this is diabolical and apart from feeling ripped off and totally let down, I'm staggered they decided to release this steaming turd. To say I'm very very disappointed would be a HUGE underestimation. Already deleted this joke and have applied for a refund. To be quite frank, I think developers who do this kind of stunt deserve to go out of business. Talk about treating your patient and long waiting fans with pure contempt. Gutted, really gutted, so much promise, so little delivered.
Regarding the lag, I must admit I haven't noticed it myself but I wonder if it is to do with the save file size. The further you go in the game the bigger the save file gets and hence the worse the lag is. If this is the case then it is the same issue that Skyrim had on the PS3. The bad news is I don't think it is easily fixable.
According to their forums, there are two reasons for lag. Sometimes it's just older and/or memory starved devices and they will new to make optimization a to accommodate them. The other problem is sole sort of path finding issue which has already been fixed for the firs patch. Having no one assigned to the engine room may help in the latter case.
Bummed about this game I waited two years and stopped playing this the first day. I'll watch for updates and hope they turn this POS into a more intuitive, stable, playable game.
It's some kind of urban legend. I never had to kill any apps since iOS 4 or 5. Background apps are killed by ios when memory is needed on the fly...
To fix hull breaches, you have to wait until the vacuum into space stops. You'll notice a little wind animation when you get a fresh reach. After a couple of minutes, the breach will stop ejecting things into space and you'll be able to move someone over there to patch it up. As for the bridge and engine rooms, so far as I can tell, anyone in these rooms is basically there as an extra hand. It can be useful to have a couple of spare red suits in case of being boarded, that way you can still keep the majority focused on recharging your lasers and creating ammo tokens. Same goes for the engine room and repairs. I always use my engine room crew member on repairs first, and then send folks from main rooms only as needed.
There is an urban legend that there are people going on to the forums posting that it is an urban legend as they never had to kill background apps or reboot their iDevices...
Wow, all the dev hatred in this thread is just plain sad. They only asked for 20k to make a pretty high production level app with a very small team. That you actually got it delivered after 2 years is more than enough you ingrates. Until you've made a better game, stfu and enjoy what's provided to you.
Oh here we go, its the old 'you do better then!' ploy. Seriously wake up, thats a lame and pathetic excuse to trot out ever time it suits you. I'm sure we ALL wanted Star Command to be AWESOME!, after I read they only had 30% of what they wanted in the game I turned down my expectations but they would have to be 0 to be happy with this bugfest. I love space games, I love FTL and I crave good space games seriously I do and I am happy to pay a decent price for them too but this is beyond a joke bad. Really, it should have launched on April 1st, it would have been apt and it saddens me to delete it and see what a great opportunity they missed. it doesn't please me to say this, I wanted it to be great, I would have been content if it was merely 'good', but no.
I think what 2wicky might be trying to say is that it's far easier to criticize than create. Whatever you think of the game, it took much more effort to create than to write about about what a pos it is on an internet forum.
