Actually, like I said, It doesn't matter, and I don't care if you like the game or not. Also, I am not talking about save file times here. What I am skeptical of is that someone buys this game and finishes it in two hours. If you never died, or restarted a battle, then I am saying that you are awesome. Take it how you will.

  2. So....uuuummm....should I get it? Or....

What?? The game was a kick starter version?? Man, I don't know how to respond to that. Afterall, I felt cheated once after being baited into buying zenform that haven't received any update in months. Yet, the star command felt more like a complete game until the lag.

Now, I have been playing the game for hours(died alot) and I was trying not to come here to avoid any spoiler, but the lag has gotten way worse after fighting the birds. So I came here to see if there was a solution. Only to find something that its a kick starter. Quite a shock but this game should be at least a leading model for how a kick starter game should be. i did enjoyed the game unlike the zenform.

If there's one thing I wouldn't change, it's the difficulty. I wouldn't change it and I like the challenges. Everything is great except the mid-late game lags and lack of variety in color. Great game overall.

Ignoring the other parts of the post you could paraphrase to that, but it wouldn't be entirely true. SC does have some good qualities, it's just a pity it's core mechanic is its weakest.

Hmm, I appear to have "Broken" the game - finished twice, but I've started the third time without enough tokens to buy any weapons so appear to have to abandon completely - or is there a way around this?

Slightly disappointed that there were no better ships after medium, but enjoyed the game despite it's miniature length. Hopefully this is the start of lots of updates! Enjoyed restarting battles to try and be as successful as possible.

Also, shields appear to be completely pointless - still damage and the hits from enemies seem to universally drop them to zero. Am I missing something?

I believe the shields are to reduce the damage taken by hits and to not allow people to teleport to your ship. Thats just what i have noticed with my star travels.

Think people here are too trek starved that they will go for anything that remotely resembles star trek and consider it good.

Shields are useless after the first playthrough. After that they go down with a single hit.

Why does this piece of shit game devolve to about 5 FPS during normal play? Even closing the app and rebooting the device doesn't fix it.

I started reading and genuinely thought you were going to say something like:

"Think people here are too trek starved that they will go for anything that remotely resembles star trek and complain like children when it isn't absolutely perfect".

Which sounds far more likely to me. I don't recall watching a single episode of Star Trek, but this game is cool.

    **SPOILERS**

So was fighting the first battle in Antoria, and just as I finished it, my captain (of his own accord) decided to walk straight into a suction and got sucked out and died, however he was stuck a few body lengths from where he was sucked out. And the game treated him as alive. So that was the first bug. After that, they still let me go onto the next battle, with the red starship command ship. Anyway, beat them, but AFTER i beat them and they told me to go get a new ship, they invaded my ship again? Even though the battle was over. Anyway, so I was able to jump to the next location and I was killing these people on the ship AS i was jumping. So there's the second bug. Then I killed them at phobos aaand the dialogue just won't start. Think I might have to revert to a save. How annoying. Has this happened to anyone else?

EDIT: So i jumped to earh then back to Phobos and the dialogue started and got my new ship. However, I now don't have enough tokens to buy anything? Even after starting a new game? Am i missing something?

So I'm still relatively early, (just finally left the solar system) but I am having a BLAST so far. It took a few tries before the games"clicked" but once it did, and I won my first big battle it felt awesome! It's a shame to see all the negativity on the board, so far this seems like a great game for strategy and scifi fans. The live action really adds to the intensity, and IMO the hybridization of strategy and live action was well implemented.

There seems to be a good deal of content as well. Bigger ships, better weapons, and upgrades specific to each room and weapon.

The visuals are very nice. Personally I really dig the old school pixel art contrasted on beautiful high res images of space. I think they really pulled it off there. By the way, traveling at warp speed looks especially cool. I can't help but smile when the animation comes up for each 5 or 15 second journey.

Overall for $3, I feel like I got a hell of a deal. I think the sort of " race to the bottom" pricing model that his so popular on the App Store, causes us to forget just how cheap these games really are. Any gamer that remembers the pre-tablet/smart phone days of mobile gaming knows what I am talking about. For a long time $20 was considered cheap for a PSP or DS game.

Big props to Star Command, LLC on a job well done! Further congrats are in order the games retail success so far. As I write this Star Command is the #4 paid app in the iPad App Store. I very much look forward to seeing how they leverage and improve the game in the future. Right now you have a fantastic game, and a solid foundation for lots of future content.

I can see a number of opportunities where I would gladly pay via iap for future add ons such as packs with more chapters or levels as well as more ships and weapons.

Great game though, having lots of fun! Cheers!

I finally got around to trying this out, and after an hour or so I'm left quite disappointed. The game centers around being boarded and on-ship combat. All the rest feels like filler. This game is basically just like so many other squad based action games on iOS. Just this has a Star Trek theme instead of a fantasy or zombie theme.

I'm not saying anything new, but the only thing this game did for me is make me wish even more FTL was on iOS.

Yeah. He signed up in July 2010 just so he could post positive comments about Star Command.

Probably because of your glowing feedback on a game filled with bugs and issues ... As well as an open request for them to add IAP content that you'd be happy to buy. If you mentioned how addictive the game is as a feature then that would have been the final red flag.

I don't care as much how much a game costs on ios as much as info if its a solid game. This one seems broken and not worth my limited game time . Just wait till you get to the later levels. The reported issues are pretty horrid as performance on the highest end devices nosedives.
