Don't repair hull damage after battles, group all crew into weapon rooms and you're good to go.

Did you mean "Don't repair hull damage 'until' after battles"? If so, I agree. Sometimes hull damage can be helpful because it can suck enemies out who are too dumb to avoid it.

As far as the upgrade tree, I would focus on shields especially at first. Putting a lot into my shields meant that a few of my battles didn't require hand to hand, because the enemy was never able to transport in.

Other advice... Save often. That would be the most important. If you are about to make a decision that you feel uneasy about, use two save slots so you can play it out two ways. Umm... Keep a healer with your death ball; that has saved me a couple of times.

Brilliant. Why didn't Kirk ever do this on Star Trek??

Ok - what are the victory conditions for the Venus mission? I destroyed the ship and have eradicated all invaders but the scenario won't end :-/

About to delete this poo of a game.

Sorry for the negativity - I value creativity and sweat in making games, but this is just an unplayable mess based on my experience thus far. I am a major sci-fi Star Trek/Star Wars/Any and All Others fan and that is all that has kept me going with this game.

+1! This is about how it got to my should-win-but-the-scenario-won't-end position in the Venus mission!

I'm about to re-download Warpgate and to heck with this.

Why are people recommending this to new players? It just ruins the game. If all you want is to see the ending and be able to say you beat, then.. I dunno... lame. That's why freemium rules I guess. People want meaningless progression bought or freely given, not earned, no fun or challenge.

I wanted to love this game, I wanted it to be something truly special. Instead, it's confusing and disheveled.

Given all they hype and dev time, this is pretty poor.

I'm always keen to give small dev teams a chance as I know how hard it is to code good games and how little return can be gained - making it a big risk - but give the hype machine, kickstarter etc... urgh... its not great is it?

    Far far away
Controls are terrible and slowdown isnt helping. I would gladly try something different but the second i start moving my little noobs around the ship it all goes to hell. For now camping gun rooms is by far the best (only?) strategy.

Despite its problems game is still fun and with some patching it could be 5 star game!

Um, for once, I disagree. The team has had two years and tons of money on this but it is botched, and botched badly. New talent are needed IMHO. What a waste.

I hope I am wrong and if the game corrects itself I will be quick to download the fixed update. That said, I am not optimistic. I hope you understand :)

They never had "tons of money". Not even close. I think you don't have a good understanding of how much gets spent on the biggest iOS titles.

This isn't a 'biggest iOS title' I my view. It was promoted as such but isn't even close to meeting expectations of such a title. Our friends at Triniti Interactive would have kicked this title's ass at a fraction of the development time and cost, IMHO.

I am not one to normally (search my posts) get aggravated about a game but this just sucks big time, IMHO.

If you got any better strategy let me know, I would really like to use one that doesn't involve only grouping into weapon rooms .Once fire ants start to board your ship, you have to either use this strategy or loose most crew members and replay mission, which can be frustrating in last 2 battles.

This reminds me of the days when most games were super exploitable. They were still great fun. I can finish Super Mario 64 with only 8 stars, but I'm damned if it isn't one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Still enjoying Star Command with all of its quirks.

P.S. Regarding controls... iPad master race ;)

Actually if you get "lucky" and have hull breaches near weapon room doors you have won the game already if you never repair them.Just group the crew into those rooms and have them drink their space martinis while they collect tokens, doesn't really matter if rest of your ship is on fire or disabled as it can't be destroyed ,if some aliens try to get even near that room, adios in space.
If you want your crew to get some fresh air, meaning getting them out of weapons room, doesn't matter if you have hull breach nearby as shields will negate it.

How do I tell my crew members to fight invaders?

I have three invaders in my healing room and I can't seem to get anybody to fight them. If I assign a crew member to the healing them they just enter it and just stand there getting shot at...

Unfortunately, I have to give up on this game for now. I was really looking forward to it, but the controls are too clunky and I just don't care for some of the design choices that were made. As noted a fair amount in other posts, it's hard to select/deselect crewmen; I often end up ordering the wrong person around, and it is difficult to tell if I have placed the crewmen correctly to fire on the intruders, as half the time, they just stand there waiting to be killed. The manual ammo buttons are annoying, as are the firing minigames. I suppose that I built this game up in my head to be different/more than what it has turned out to be. Hopefully, there will be patches to fix the control issues, at least.

Exactly. It's not in the realm of the biggest iOS titles, and the budget is far less than is spent on many iOS games. So you can compare their results to their budget, that's perfectly reasonable, but to say they had "tons of money" seems to me a wild exaggeration.
