Hi Fellow gamers, developers and wolves! After 6 gruelling years in the making by an artist-turned Lone Wolf Indie Developer. Painstakingly re-writing the entire code twice, ditching the original gameplay mechanics and re-doing all the graphics, I present my first ever game to the world; Star Cat Adventure. I Hope you like it I can't for the life of me sum it up in any brief description. From what I've seen in the trailer it seems gameplay is similar to Little Galaxy Family or Rabbids Big Bang, which were a little simple for my taste. I prefer something with a little more challenge and depth. Not sure about you're game. I could be absolutely wrong. One thing I do know for sure, is that the artwork is absolutely unique & beautiful. yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #3 yankeeblue000, Apr 11, 2017 The sounds and music are also killer yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #4 yankeeblue000, Apr 11, 2017 Edit: I watched the trailer again for the 3rd time and couldn't resist it anymore. I had to hit that buy button. It's just so trippy & pretty LoneWolf101 Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2017 109 0 0 #5 LoneWolf101, Apr 11, 2017 Gameplay Hi yankeeblue000, Little Galaxy Family and Rabbids couldn't be more further apart in terms of gameplay. Visually, I came across many games adapting the planet hopping mechanic. However, the one fundamental difference is that Star Cat has total freedom of movement. The gamer pulls the tail for power/speed and rotates it for the desired angle. Angry Birds space and Rabbids veered off to an "orbital gravity" simulation, which for most us is not something we can related to in our daily life. In star cat, things fall downwards as we all know and that is combined with the following: - total freedom of movement determined by the gamer - no punishments for taking your time, slightly wrong angles or going a different way - encouraged to explore and learn - follow the trail of stars by combining the right angle and the perfect tail pull - use powerups in each galaxy, that are given when the gamer needs them (think kirby) - puzzle elements in the levels are thrown at the gamer to vary the gameplay so it's not all about jumping - doesn't just get harder and as you progress, rather the gamer is given new experiences at every level - element of shooting projectiles I will hopefully get round to making a longer trailer that shows all this Hope that helps? The game is gorgeous and presents a challenge. Which I like. I'm having fun. Still have to play more to say more about it. So far so good. I definitely recommend it. Great job on this currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #11 currymutton, Apr 11, 2017 I am not sure about the "rainbow tail"(?) thing... Nevermind, the game play seems interesting, I may give this a shot. yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #12 yankeeblue000, Apr 11, 2017 Last edited: Apr 11, 2017 My initial impressions The gameplay mechanics are simple but levels offer quite a challenge. You slingshot you're character from object to object while trying to avoid obstacles. The aesthetic is absolutely gorgeous and quite unique. There are traps, obstacles, puzzles and enemies to avoid while catapulting from object to object trying to get all the stars in the level so that you can move on to the next level. Once you get a star another appears somewhere in the level. There are guide arrows that point you in the right direction of the next star. Certain levels have you avoiding obstacles and enemies. Others have you timing and angling you're jump to avoid moving traps that are in you're path. There is a level where you're catapulting from object to object trying to get all the stars while trying to escape a wall of fire that's side-scrolling thru the screen behind you. My favorite level so far has you surrounded by giant cannonballs that you have to catapult and maneuver thru to get to the stars. These cannonballs basically have you blocked in till you can create a path. The thing is that their fuses ignite when you jump on them and you have a few seconds to jump to the next before they explode. This is the only way you can open a path or create a path to get to the stars. In that sense they're the path and the obstacle. It has a puzzle-like feel to it. Jump on one it ignites the fuse.Jump to another one to avoid being blown up. You have to hurry and jump thru the space that was created from the cannonball that exploded before the one you're on blows up and on and on this goes till you can get each star. It's pretty cool, Imo. There are also power-ups that you get from certain stars in the levels that you can use to attack and take out enemies that block you're path. Each level has a unique theme. The beautiful music & sounds fit perfectly with the look and feel of the game adding to a relaxing but trippy experience. This is the developer's first game and he has hit it out of the park. I'm playing on my IPad Air 2 and it looks and plays great. I haven't run into any problems yet but I need to get further into the game to know for sure, but so far I'm having a blast LoneWolf101 Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2017 109 0 0 #13 LoneWolf101, Apr 11, 2017 Just woke up before going to work lol this has made.my tuessay.morning already!!! if you loved this, you will love the angler fish level THANK YOU! It represent the light spectrum. the cat is kind of made of light because it bursts into sparkles when it dies. Also we see in nature that animals with prominant tails use them to balance & manoeuvre skillfully around their environments. like squirrels and lemurs slamraman Well-Known Member Patreon Gold Aug 27, 2011 2,511 8 38 #15 slamraman, Apr 11, 2017 Last edited: Apr 11, 2017 this is absolutely spot on. The only thing I'd like - although there may a design reason not to - is a zoom in zoom out pinch and touch move with one finger to look round the levels. Only 6 levels in but it's an absolutely brilliant game. Any game center integration is my only question? Edit: Just completed the first world. Enjoyed that. Level 2 later but all in all I think this could be a cracker. imdakine1 Well-Known Member Aug 23, 2011 1,228 22 38 #16 imdakine1, Apr 11, 2017 First congratulations! It looks like an interesting game with unique and beautiful graphics. I ended up getting a Nintendo Switch to play Zelda Breath of the Wild which is amazing... I'll continue to read and monitor what others think of gameplay etc... I have over 30 iOS games that I haven't gotten to play and now that I'm addicted to Zelda it'll be a long time before I can breath again from the amazing games being made! I've promised myself to not buy games until I complete some especially as I become more addicted to Zelda... Good luck!!! LoneWolf101 Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2017 109 0 0 #17 LoneWolf101, Apr 11, 2017 Thank you very much! You don't realise what these words mean to me after 6 years of hard work! There was always a lingering thought that it could just be a wimper. MAde this game quite blindly and tunnel visioned It's 43 levels in total so plenty to enjoy up ahead. Galaxy one is just to groom the gamer for waht's up ahead. it mainly teaches you to control the cat - then the fun starts. re. game centre (and other non-game features) I'm taking a little break. But hopefully when i gather myself again I will look to get some of those features in. I'm glad it's out there tbh lol please add your vote to the poll. Would love to know people's favourite galaxies! I didn't like the pinch zoom mainly as it detaches you from the moment and keeping you up and close with star cat. The solution was to allow an ample zoom out as you pulled the tail more, which essentially lets you see the level surroundings. I just made sure the level designs are super tight so there's no need to see the level beyond the need. Ion a related note, there are hint arrows as a kind of "trust me" mechanism so you can do blind jumps in their direction and know you will land on something yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #19 yankeeblue000, Apr 11, 2017 Play this game right meow!!
