STAR CANNON is based on the classic coin-op vector game, Star Castle. The Star Cannon is surrounded by three rotating energy rings. Pilot your space ship and shoot holes in the energy rings to take a shot at the Star Cannon. Avoid the Star Mines that pursue your ship and the deadly fireball projectile of the Star Cannon. Shooting the Star Cannon scores an extra ship and advances to the next wave. As waves progress, difficulty increases. The game starts out slow, then gradually increases to a fast and intense battle between your ship and the Star Cannon. Use the "fly by and shoot" and "screen wrap" techniques for long play duration at intense speeds (just like in the classic arcades). Star Cannon doesn't just look like a vintage vector arcade shooter, it PLAYS and sounds like one too! It is every bit as challenging and fun as the old classic! The app utilizes a virtual, authentic, 4:3 aspect, black and white, bi-level vector monitor, with multi-color overlays. Both Classic and DYNALAY color overlays can be enabled or disabled in the options menu. DYNALAY dynamically changes the overlay to one of 7 different overlay color combinations! It is like having 7 different multi-color overlays to place over your virtual vector monitor! A classic arcade style monitor bezel surrounds the virtual vector monitor, with dynamically changing colors that match the overlays. The Xtreme Beam Vectorline Rendering Engine draws vector lines on your TV screen, in a very similar manner to the vintage X/Y vector monitor systems of the late 70s and early 80s arcade games. Thanks to the Xtreme Beam Engine, these vector lines are always smooth and alias free. The app supports both extended layout and standard layout MFi Game Controllers! Once you have paired a Game Controller to your device, just switch it on, and you are ready to play with the Game Controller! Game sound effects are similar to those generated from vintage discrete audio boards. Remember those powerful booming explosions and sounds from the arcades? With good speakers, you will think you are playing on a vintage arcade cabinet! Game Center is supported with a High Score Leaderboard. Compete with others to get the highest scores! A local High Score List, with initials, is also saved directly to your AppleTV! STAR CANNON was originally available as an iPad only game, within the Xtreme Beam Vector Arcade iOS app. STAR CANNON is now a dedicated game app, of its own, under this new tvOS version. This latest version has had a complete rewrite of the Audio Engine, to better support the way iOS/tvOS 9 handles audio. It is the first version to offer an arcade accurate, 4:3 aspect, virtual vector monitor with matching monitor bezel art. Other changes include a more lively and violent ring collapse explosion, faster player ship rotation speed, and various bug fixes/improvements. You can now enjoy this classic vector game, with authentic vector graphics and sound effects, on a screen that is BIGGER than any vintage arcade cabinet ever had!
