Can you do loops? No. Can you crash into the ground? Yes. Can you fly straight up for a long distance? Not for a long distance, but it's still accpetable.
Plays EXACTLY like 'Rogue Squadron', which is a good thing! Control is similar to 'Glyder' but with guns. Guns are very forgiving and missiles lock on and feel very satisfying. Plays perfectly on my 3G (3.1.3) Yes you can loop, unless I've misunderstood (vertical swipe causes you to loop around and go in the opposite direction) and a horizontal swipe causes you to barrel roll (works perfectly very time). Really loving this game!
Thank you so much. Unless someone convinces me otherwise, this is a showstopper for me. If it had free roaming then id buy it. I'm sick of pseudo 3D games with limited playing angles. That said, Im very happy for all the other folks loving it!!
Quite liked this game. Good gameplay, shit story, Gameloft voice acting "SONAN!!!" anyone? Oh, yeah, and i'd like to see a versus multiplayer.
Not sure I understand this, it's got 3d models, you fly around in a 3d environment..... how is that "pseudo 3d"? You aren't "on rails" and you have full control of your ship. 99% of "3d" games have a limit to the terrain/space you can use, I don't really see this as "pseudo" anything. Personally I just don't find the game to be very good. It's pretty bland overall really.
So is it worth the 6.99? I have no issues paying good money for a game... but is it a game that after 30 mins of play your bored and never come back to it?
Ok, I've played a lot more and can confirm that I am absolutely loving this game!! Yeah, the story and acting is a tad cheesey but the Graveyard of the Ancients was chockablock full of atmosphere. I'd prefer customization and more rpg elements as well, but we can always go on and on about things we'd like to improve in games, can't we?! Seriously loving this game, can't praise it enough!
For me and my gaming experience on the iPhone Gameloft is by far hands down the best Dev on the platform. Are the games most original? Nope. What their games are for the most part is a solid gaming experience for each title for a few hours. I have had some great gaming on the iPhone console quality due to their efforts. Of course it's just IMO, but I really am glad to see games like these instead of wave after wave of angry birds, doodle wars, fruit ninja... Those games are great and fantastic in their own right, but they feel like solitaire on your windows pc in the sense that yeah a game is there to kill some time, but gameloft games are what you buy that PC for. I love this game. I had a blast playing it and I hope they build on this so the next game of this series is a blockbuster.
Real quick, first time I've tried online Multi player and when I use gamecenter live I can see all the online matchs but when I choose a game it says I time out. Regardless if it's 1/3 2/3... Anyone else have problems connecting?
Are there any more games similar to this (or Rogue Squadron) on the appstore? I am on mission 7.2 and just do NOT want this game to end!!!! Going to be sad when I finish this!
^^ I hear ya on that. I was sad when it was over. I'm enjoying breaking my records and getting achievements. I think gameloft set themselves up for a big big part 2 in this series.
If you enjoyed this game, you should buy Galaxy on Fire 2 (released on Thursday). I know I'll be getting it.
Its on my radar, I'll be definitely be getting it. Must just say though, that I enjoyed Star battalion more than the first GOF (although in fairness I haven't actually finished it). There needs to be more hype around this game imo, its sad when people miss out on something as truly satisfying as Star Battalion!
Complete true; this is a great game, yes could be short but honestly for the price is good. As software developer I know that must people wan software for a long time and a small price, that's fine for word procesors or pint of sales systems (I create POS systems) but for a game and the devices I think that this is a great game and good price.
