Wow... I didn't even think twice about this game until late last night, feeling bored and restless and thought "what the hell, why not" and downloaded the lite version. Gosh I should have bought this game a long time ago! Anyway, I had a quick search through this thread and didn't see this issue mentioned - sorry if it was It's to do with the pinch to zoom feature - when using it, zooming in on the torso is fine and it's very easy to make smaller adjustments to the "pointer" before pushing the figure down the stairs. The image attached below show this... However, what doesn't make any sense at all is when the pointer is located towards the bottom of the figure, eg. the feet, lower legs, and zooming in here is pointless as it is impossible to make any changes to the pointer's position. In the photo below you can just about make it out in the bottom right-hand corner... just... Surely it would make more sense to have the zoom centre on the pointer's location? I'm trying to overlook this but I just can't and it makes the game, to an extent at least, unplayable... Is there any chance of the developer giving some feedback on this?
I think the logic of zooming in to the torso-region of the figure was that (for the most part) all of the 'useful' push-points are located up there. It's really hard to get any kind of high-scoring or spectacular dismount by pushing a leg, so they just don't bother to zoom there. It kinda bugged me at first. But once I got the hang of pushes to the head, shoulder, and elbow being where all my spectacular dismounts were happening ..I didn't care any more after that. There were a few gripes here (some from me ) about the zoom and the push-point always being directly under the finger, rather than just above it, way back when Stair Dismount was freshly coded. They had specific reasons they did it that way, and didn't seem interested in changing it. {shrugs} I'm okay with that now. edit: Also, with the iPad release on the horizon, I'm sure they're madly coding Zen Bound to work native-resolution on that (maybe this one as well ..who knows.) I wouldn't expect any updates to Stair Dismount before then.
Hi guys, We survived GDC (with severe exhaustion), and Zen Bound 2 is still being worked on. The control issue in Stair Dismount was actually discussed in this thread a while back, basically there being no simple, obvious and elegant solution to change the current behavior. It may alleviate the problem a bit if the zoom-in would target a lower point on the body, but it still wouldn't completely allow people to zoom-in on body parts. Changing the game so the impact target and the camera aim target are the same would lead into many usability issues. This is easily verified in any 3D modeling application that allows you to move the camera and its aimpoint at the same time. The camera behavior becomes very erratic to follow, and you couldn't reliably pick a position on the doll anymore.

Wow .. that is careful consideration for a $1.00 outlay. In my humble opinion (as someone who's not associated with Secret Exit in any way) I would have to say "hell yes! pick it up!" It's a stonking good game. And unless the lite version has put you off the idea of dismounting entirely, you're bound to enjoy Stair Dismount. @Frand Yeah, I don't think there's much option for zooming to the lower part of the body. And besides, with a bit of experienc you generally find there aren't any good push-points there anyway.
Ya I've already tried the lite and although I'm not too fond of these types of games, I'll probably end up picking it up anyways because I have a purchasing problem... LOL Edit: OHHHH, YOU CAN CHANGE THE ARROW PLACEMENT, WELL THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Purchased.
I didn't particularly like the lite version, but I picked the full version up because it was only $0.99... And it's surprisingly addicting! Although, are all the levels unlocked from the start?
Unfortunately so. I also prefer some levels to be unlocked at first so it feels good when we unlock them. If you can't, then it's not much of a game is it?
*Knock knock* Is anyone here? The thread seemed rather dusty so I wasn't quite sure if anyone was here to see this... (work-in-progress and lacking bits of polish, obviously)
I do NOT think the iPad version is in development, and i would NOT buy it even if it was. This is NOT one of my favorite apps, and I do NOT like this production house at all!!! This would NOT rock, and i would NOT buy it immediately, AND I deffinitely do NOT hope for a UNIVERSAL UPDATE!!!! (Oh wait - this is no longer the thread of "DENIAL?!!" What's that you say - It's now all about "Love and Fractures?!!!" THEN - BRING ON THE iPad VERSION!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!)
We deny the existence of any iPad version of Stair Dismount. In fact, we firmly deny the existence of any device that may or may not be known as 'iPad'. Any screenshots pointing to the contrary are, naturally, also denied.
I deny that when I saw these pictures I giggled like a little girl in glee at the thought of this. {/full denial of all happy thoughts} Gosh I wish there would be a version of this for the iPad..
