I finally gave in and bought Chaos Rings. So far I'm enjoying it, it's a pretty standard RPG experience but I like it

edit: Wow, this is really easy. Like, absurdly so. I finished the first couple in under 5 hours, I hope this gets harder or something, I never died and barely had to heal or anything. hmm

the lack of variety in enemies is pretty disappointing. the bosses have been cool though at least. Having to play through this thing multiple times is kinda weak though, especially since I have to go through the same areas. At least the puzzles are different, what else changes?

Minor changes in the story each time you play through. You basically beat the same game four times to piece together the whole story.

I think the game is pretty damn shallow and overrated, to be honest.

didnt read through the rest of this thread to even see if there was an answer because i had to reply, chaos rings has enormous replay value and contains for seperate story lines. The people saying it is short are the people who are only completing a quarter of the game! Once you beat the first couple the game is still far from over, some people just dont care to realize that before they review.

It doesn't contain separate story lines, it contains a single one that requires four play throughs to see.

If it takes you 5 hours to finish the game with one couple, you'll spend four and a half hours with the next couple doing the exact same thing you did with the first one. The other 30 minutes will be spent reading different dialogue.

The only difference between each couple in gameplay is a difference in attributes, since you dictate all the skills each character has.

It's an interesting way to do it, but to say it has enormous replay value is misleading. Tell me you weren't bored with slogging through the same monsters and the same bosses using the same skills and the same tactics in the same locations for the third and fourth time. All for the relatively minor payoff of adding details (most of which you already knew) to the story and allowing you to fight the final boss.

This weekend took most of my money. Bought FF1, FF2, Crystal Defenders from Square. Then bought Doom and Doom RPG from ID. And that was after earlier buying Simcity Deluxe on sale.

  7. That explains it.
