Yeah, it's true. The gameplay, enemies, and environments are nearly identical. The only thing different in Omega are the storylines. If you really liked the original game, you'll probably like Omega, but yeah, it's a sequel with no new features, just a different plot.
Grabbed the two FFs. I know they've been cheaper, but i'm only missing out on $2, and i'd rather not wait a couple more months and hope that the games might go on sale for $4 again. Also, the will be the first time i play through a ff game. (I played XIV a tiny bit on my friends xbox, but that's it.)
Is Hill and Rivers Remain worth getting. I played the lite version and thought it was pretty fun but I'm suspicious of the in app scenario purchases. Will I need to buy them to fully enjoy the game?
