No, they should talk to Nickelodeon about that BFBB port! Nick is a big company yet has no iPhone ports yet. But I guess Operation might be fun too.
Well, if you don't want to play it on an iDevice, you can actually get the analog version! That's actually a great idea.
Hey thanks! A lot of the art in the actual levels is taken directly from the show. In most cases, we are using actual show backgrounds (they are usually altered to fit the levels better, but they are mostly original). The gameplay elements were created more or less from scratch using show artwork in most cases. Much of the design and user interface items were created from scratch to give the game a fresh and vibrant look and feel! More screens showing the new art style are coming in the next few days. We're all about art and music...
So this was the big project! I guess after this is finished you might be able to go back to working on galactic keep?
Yep, precisely In terms on number of levels, there will be 50+ to start. We're continuing to make a ton of new levels, new packs (in different locations) of 5, 10 and even 20 will be released on an ongoing basis. The thinking is that when you buy the app, all of the updates will be free! We're open to suggestions on possible level designs too (once things get rolling and the game is live)! Maybe a few contests/votes?
Price and universality will be up to Nickelodeon. Not really in our control. Right now, we are making two separate versions.
Will it be challenging enough for adults? Seems like a great concept but scared it might be set to kid level challenge. Also please tell me title song is left out or optional.
There are easy, medium and hard levels. Some of the hard levels are pretty difficult. We're going to release a level pack with an 'insane' difficulty...not at launch though. The opening theme is not in the game We wanted the music to sound more like the end credits of the show so the game has Hawaiian ukulele and slide guitar as the soundtrack. If you're not into that you can turn it off and listen to the clanks, squelches and other weird noises...
For all levels of 'Marbles and Slides', we started out by hand drawing each in a device-sized template. Some of the levels have so many scratches and re-draws on them it's hard to see what the level is actually supposed to be. Here are two examples of levels that made it into the game and the original premise sketches that they were based on. How did we get a level from that? I read chicken scratch fluently. Everything in the level is represented in shorthand. Note that this level is missing the 'danger' sign in the final version. It wouldn't fit. Think you've got what it takes to design a level
Im really excited for this game! i love spongebob and this looks great! "Think you've got what it takes to design a level " are you hinting that there is going to be a level editor for user made levels?!
A few more screens from the iPhone version of SpongeBob SquarePants: Marbles and Slides. A day in the life of SpongeBob There's a lot going on in this game, if you didn't notice It's getting very close to being finished!
Do you plan to push the game into other appstore, for example in Russian, Finnish? I wanted to buy the game, but alas I was disappointed.
