Hit detection could be a tad more lenient. Jumping over some thorns on a wall and maybe a foot touches and you’re dead is a little extreme.

Has anyone able to beat Swamp level 4? After unlocking the gate towards the end of the level I can't seem to go back. There is a gate in front of me and going upwards is not possible. Weird.

Overall I am enjoying the game, but there is a good chance I will not finish it for a single reason: the three lives system. I get it that the dev is trying to recreate a “traditional” platformer experience, but using a three-lives-restart-level mechanic is bad, archaic game design. Arcade games did that to siphon off quarters from obsessive kids (like me); 8-bit console platformers adopted the practice to pad the length of tiny games. And even in those they often incorporated healing items.

On a modern platformer, all that three lives does is create suicide runs. If you lose two lives, it’s often better to just kill yourself to force a restart, since losing the last life right before the end of the level is very, very frustrating. It also discourages exploration, which takes away a lot of the fun of a platformer.

I would suggest to the dev to add a no-lives mode to the game, or at least add healing items, so that playing with one life left doesn’t seem like an automatically pointless exercise. It would be too bad to give up on an otherwise excellent game because of one ancient game mechanic.

Agree about the 3 lives system. Other platformers are much easier with the lives

Have left a 5 star review as I’m really enjoying it. Looks great and the controls work very well. But yeah agree with the post above

Hi, for Swamp lvl 7, it trully has some issue (our issue) - Player's starting point is not at the best place, he can go left and right from the start. Maybe this info will help you to find all the coins :)

We'll place the Player at better point for the next build that we are working on.

Mmmm.. bought it and felt dissapointed, felt like a reskin of Oddmar with lower graphics and different storyline, but most move are same, feel the same...
Inspiration is good and finding the X mark or perk or distinction that make pros for me
a game shine out of the machine is hard,
    Game balance is good
    Play well

Half-supported, you can only move left and right, press “start” button to slash, and that is all you can do.

BTW, the game is published by other company in Asia, it is free to play with ads, there seems no option to disable ads, you only have 2 hearts as well, which is not a good strategy to me, so I will pass the game this time, since I want a full experience.

I mean its a platformer, it does what it says on the tin kinda thing. Theres only so much you can do in a platformer. I'm a huge fan of them (Got a folder full of them) , i do think the 'lives' thing needs to be changed so you can just carry on from a checkpoint.

Played a few more levels, getting a bit more trickier but loving the graphics and the controls arent bad. Bit frustrating at times but its quite addictive for sure

For the price of a coffee its well worth it. Hope it sells okay or their next game may feature 38 currencies and timers etc !

Thanks all for the great comments and feedback, we super appreciate it!

In light of the several comments we have had regarding the lives system we are currently working on the following so we would welcome your thoughts on this proposed plan of action:

Easy Mode This will remove the 3 lives from the UI, and you will respawn infinitely on the checkpoint if you will die, without a possibility to lose the level and start from the beginning.
Normal Mode: This will be default option and it will be the current game mode.
Extreme Mode : This will remove the 3 lives from the UI as well, but here you will die every time completely and start over from the beginning. Fun aye! ;)

We are open to other options and feel free to suggest away. :)

That sounds good. Frankly, I prefer Easy and Extreme over Normal — the whole idea of “managing” your lives is just not fun for me. It’s playing the mechanics, rather than the game.

That’s actually one thing that I appreciated on Valkyria Chronicles 4 over permadeath tactics games like XCOM. Forcing you to save scrub is not the way to make your game more hardcore, IMO.

You missed the lever that opens that gate. It’s up on the platform above just before where you dropped down to get to that gate. It’s right after the spitting plant thing. If you drop down without activating that lever there’s no way out except to restart. It’s easy to miss, kinda blends into the background.
