    to die
    where rice paddies grow...
maybe there could be a perfume that leave a trail behind, attracts enemies and make them get stuck in it

Heh, maybe a pheromone spray perfume... Say "Troll-Lust" as an example:

    1) Spray the pheromone on an enemy to send all Trolls in the area into a frenzy, following this monster around, fighting each other for it's affections :)

    2) Spray it on yourself accidentally (maybe it was unidentified, and you tested it out), and then when you meet up with a Troll in a dark hallway... "Oww! Hey! WTF are you doing!!!!?"

    3) Throw it against a wall and watch them all go running over there searching for the female, beating on the wall and each other hoping to get to "her"!

Perfumes might be a good extension to my existing potion plans after all. Evil, but fun! Imagine spraying yourself with something and getting the text "Hmm, smells like Troll sweat!"... you'd be running for the nearest source of water, be it rain, fountain, rust trap, anything to wash it off :D

    :D i like number 2

hmm maybe you can be able to chop off bushes and use it as a disguise and try to hide. But if an enemy sees you moving, they'll come investigate you

if you're going to add environment stuff, maybe be able to hide in the snow and walk around covered, but it'll melt after x blah blah

maybe if it's raining you may actually be looking at a refection of a monster instead of the actual monster

    Got a new weapons!

    Weapon: Sword
    Name: The iLander
Not much is known about the iLander except for legends say that some angry immortal scottish guy used it to absorb the life energy out of his opponents by decapitation... It seems to has a etching of a apple on the hilt.

How big will the world be?

Pretty funny one! Not too far-fetched for gameplay with a bit of an Apple nod to spice things up. That weapon might just make the cut! Ha! Get it? Sorry, bad puns are a specialty... :D

For the main game/quest: The official count looks like 40 "levels", each one randomly generated in a grid that can be up to 64x64 (4096 squares max per level). For reference, Rogue Touch levels are all on an 80x23 grid (for a max size of 1840 squares per level). So in addition to these being over twice the size of levels in Rogue Touch, they will have more variety, both scenically and tactically! There are a few hidden secret worlds on the design table that could expand this further.

Post game adventure: Anyone familiar with Shiren the Wanderer might recall Fay's Final Puzzle, which was a 99 floor unlockable dungeon to play in, with tougher monsters and additional item types. I have something pretty much exactly like that in mind... triples the amount of gameplay that you will get out of Spirit Hunter Mineko, and keep everyone happy until the sequel is ready! ;)

I personally love bad puns that work at multiple levels and can still fit in the theme (I'm assuming medieval fantasy, right?).

Like trying to work in iPads and Light Sabers I assume would be pushing it (even if in the form of a groan worthy pun), right?

Yeah, it would probably be pushing things to go too modern. Perfume works OK in a fantasy setting, or at least it does in my mind (No, not THAT kind of fantasy setting ;)), but hairspray and iPads are out!

Like I stated a few pages back, Mineko will be a reasonably serious game, but I do have some puns and fun to lighten the mood occasionally... I'm willing to entertain any possibilities! :D

Yes! The idea being the first part there to give those who need a good story and then want to feel they've completed something and the later dungeons being for those of us who just want to treat this all a bit more like a high score tracking puzzle/strategy game to see how big they can go (and then the super elite that do eventually actually clear the 99 levels).

I think Shiren Asuka game might be a great inspiration here as it introduced SEVERAL different post game dungeons. They didn't really offer so much in unique baddies or items not seen in the other post story dungeons as much as each of these 20+ dungeons (yeah, not likely here in Spirit Hunter, I understand) had different rule sets. A favorite dungeon of mine was one where no items are ever dropped or found just money but every level has a shop. The further twist being that your end score is based entirely on cash on hand when you die. So do you spend your money in shops for desperately needed gear or try to tough it out as much as possible so as to not cut into your savings? It also means that, score wise, the guy who dies on the 3rd level with 500 gold pieces on hand will score better than the guy who made it to the 80th level with only 10 gold pieces left.

Also isn't the name Mineko strange for a girl?

I vote neigh, it is a smidgen strange but strange is awesome it is perfect name imo. And I can't ever come up with a creative name.

And besides I don't think "Spirit Hunter Jill: Demons Reach" really rolls off the tongue that well lol. ;)

Depends on where you are from I guess :D

The Japanese, or even Japanese-Americans, would see no problem with it. The name can be read to mean "child of the summit" or "beautiful white peak of the mountain". For a pretty young woman living in a mountain village I think it would be a very *normal* name, maybe even common ;)

I think in Japan, just about any three-syllable word ending in -ko (child) works for girls' names...

If you really wanted to bust people up you could have named her Hanako.

That being said, Toilet Hanako would make a great ghost-type enemy in the 100 Rogues contest, anyone feel free to steal that idea. (I'm ot much of an artist )

Ok now I need to know... what does Hanako translate to?

You nailed it! The story mode will be what really drives Spirit Hunter Mineko's entertainment value for most gamers, and I think everyone certainly will enjoy it. The 99 level post game adventure will be my gift to the hardcore fans who like their dungeons deep and hard (must... resist... puns...)! :D

A variety of additional post-game dungeons with different rules would be cool, but that might have to wait and see how well this first game does in the App Store! Rest assured I will be taking ideas for that in the sequel. On the short term, with the ability to shop in Demon's Reach, and still using gold as part of your score, people who tough it out with what they find rather than buy will see better scores on the leaderboards.

Speaking of leaderboards, if I manage to release well ahead of Game Center's arrival, I am looking at the Plus+ system for leaderboards. They also have some support for "cloud based" saving of games too, but I am not sure I can get the saved game file small enough yet. One step at a time ;)

    It's very common.
