well im gonna tell ya how i believe the final room is achieved .. real warning tho, this is the spoiler that will explain it ya been warned. a previous poster is right, all the info was already mentioned. on the tombstone are a series of arrows, left - down left - up right - right. in the room with 4 small white switches (one with the big fire/stove in the bottom corner) you click the switches in that order and ya hear a faint click. in the last room you hit the wheel and a room will be unlocked. you may have to unravel all the hidden secrets to and perhaps make the clock glow in another room. i did these but uncertain if they are required. the other mystery tho remains a bit of a mystery .. for now!
what an awesome game, just finished it for my first time. Now Im going to play through it again and take a picture of each secret/picture/object I find to see if I can piece it all together. I ruined one part of the game by putting a spider web right next to the button, so I couldnt hit it . But I did find all the secrets, now Im just going to find the secret room!
Oh, and you guys are on the right track, especially (highlight) when you say there are 2 different story threads, though they are interconnected. i don't want to say more than that, because you're doing such a great job unraveling it yourselves.
Ill be posting every single secret/picture/object I find in each level so I can try to wrap it up (and so you dont have to go through the whole game if you forget what one level contained). Is there anyway to hide pictures as spoilers? Right now Im only on Library, so I have a long way until Im finished (but I've found some very useful information)
Alright well Im going to go through each of the levels 1 by 1 and see if I can piece it all together, Ill write down what I see in each level in this spoiler (highlight): Front Yard: nothing Porch: nothing except a few frontyard newspapers on the porch (typical), shows that the house has been abandoned Entranceway: Now we start experiencing things. On the table there is a picture of a women, but it is uncertain who she in. Relative, friend, wife? There is some liquire next to her picture, so something depressing might have happened. Also, above the light, there is a secret compartment with a couple letters labeled "$$" and "!!!$$$" Foyer:In this room you can interact with the large grandfather clock by jumping on it. You hear a few of its mechanics working and then it ticks to 9 PM (a picture above the clock depicts a boat sailing at night). Next to the clock is a picture of CK, N, R, and BY Bryce. The clock original showed (I think) 8:45. So something in between 8:45 and 9PM happened. Or maybe the number 9 is important. Shelves:There is a boxing medal labed "R Bryce, No 2" and then a large silver cup labed "N Bryce, 1st". We can assume that N Bryce is better than R. There is a picture showing N Bryce being awarded some honor/badge, we will see this same badge later. It looks as if he is in the military. Another picture depicts N Bryce and L Stewart (N Bryce's future wife?) and R Bryce. N Bryce looks happy, R Bryce looks sad. We find a secret compartment in the desk showing what looks to be a red ribbon, two markers, and a blueprint of a house that has been drawn on with "?" and "X". Pantry: In this room we find a picture of N Bryce, the picture looks as if it has been ripped in half. We must find the other half of the picture. The bean container is labeled "sure to please him", though that probably does not serve an important reference. Kitchen Sink: There is a ring (wedding ring?) down the drain of the sink. I found no secret. Bathtub: Secret box with perfume and a letter with a heart sticker on it (secret love letter, of course). Keep in mind in the reflection of the mirror, you see the box. This hint comes useful later. Linen Closet: secret found in the basket, not sure what it contains. Looks like a tailoring rod and clothes. To the left of the basket in the corner, it looks like there is some sort of switch or flashlight type thing. Library: Click the red button and the clock illuminates the 9PM time. On the design of the clock, there is a sythe, wheel, and hammer. We will see this symbol many more times. On the desk, there is a paper labeled CK, we can assume this was CK's desk, and he was maybe researching. There is a book on the top shelf with a black crow laying on its side, that most likely symbolizes death...CR's death. Garden: nothing Well: There is a golden heart-shaped necklace dropped into the well with N Bryce and the girl, I believe L Stewart. At the bottom of the well is a doll. This may symbolize the downfall of N Bryce and L Stewart's love. Fountain: Important part: hit the tombstone of CK Bryce and it illuminates (like the clock), on the bottom there is a special pattern. Memorize that pattern, we will use it later. On the bottom is the tomb is a sythe, wheel, and hammer. Same pattern as we have seen before. The fountain next to the gravestone may symbolize water. CK also has a huge gravestone, meaning he has a lot of wealth. Clothesline: Nothing (but its a fun level with all the hornets!) Under The Stairs: The light is only used to attract the moths. Basement: Remember the pattern form the gravestone? Use it here with the switches. You hear some sort of chain device work. The secret is behind the oven which contains letters to N Bryce and L Stewart, maybe love letters. Oh yea, the sythe-wheel-hammer logo is on the oven. Staircase: Poster of CJ Bryce, behind him there is a weird logo with a Sythe, "><" (yes, thats what it looks like), and a hammer. Secret in cabinet illuminating what looks to be a bell tower on the top floor of the mansion. The SWH (sythe, wheel, hammer) logo is on the cabinet too. Man, that logo gets old. Music Room: In the violin is the secret, it shows a paper with CK Bryce and N Bryce. Im not sure what it shows and Im also have no clue what the metal 5-point thing is. Picture of N Bryce, CK Bryce (with his parrot), and R Bryce. Another picture of N Bryce wearing a award/medal and is in some sort of ceremony. There is a trumpet, violin, and piano in the room...these guys have to be musicians (or do it in their hobby). Bedroom: In this room, the secret compartment has the award/medal necklace that N Bryce has been wearing. On top of the desk is a note (suicide note?). There is a red ribbon on the ground, like in the "Shelves" room. There is a picture of R Bryce and a women getting married. This women could be L Stewart and N Bryce is jealous/angered. The room looks to be destroyed as if someone was searching it (all the drawers are pulled out and all boxes are open). Rose Window: Interesting room, It has a glass window labeled "Bryce" and it has a sythe, hammer, wheel, and two sailing ships. They seem to serve no purpose as of now, I definitely need help figuring that out. Roof: Remember the illusion of the bell tower on top of the mansion? Well, this is no bell tower, but on top of this roof there is a secret room with a golden diagram of some sort of puzzle (with a red ribbon on the ground). It looks as if it depicts a wheel and a fireplace. Keep this diagram in mind, it might be useful later. Dining Room: Picture of a sailing ship in stormy weather. With all the other sailing pictures, I think its safe to say someone died while sailing in tough conditions. Secret letter for N Bryce by LS Bryce, whose LS? L Stewart? The letter also has a picture of a train. Click the button on the wall, it doesnt turn on a light so it must have another use. Living Room: Corpse in a chair, pills on the ground, its a suicide. But wait, remember that picture of N Bryce ripped in half (with the other half missing) in the Pantry room? This picture is a perfect fit. This is L Stewart, and N Bryce must have committed suicide due to a divorce or her cheating on him. Weird painting on the wall above him that displays what looks like to be a king and a queen/enchantress. Hearth: Look at the mirror, it displays a red vase with a hammer right below it and wheel to the left of it. The mirrors hinted us to secrets in other rooms, so it must hint us to something in this room. That same reflection in the mirror is on the shelf. Hit the wheel, and the golden button will disappear. Go in it, its the secret room. I never did find the purpose of the vase though. Treasure Room: Gold gold gold and more gold. There is a plate with a sailing ship (he was the sailor, and maybe died while sailing) and there is CK's parrot. This must be CK's valuables. There is a SWH logo on the wall. End of spoilers . If i make any mistakes or you have any extra theories, post it on here (PM if you really want to keep it secret)! Im going to reply with a final conclusion soon. There is a couple things I dont truly understand yet, like the whole deal with the sythe, wheel, and hammer and also the red ribbon. I wish I knew the name of everyone too! I spent just about two hours playing the game and writing this out while playing it, not sure if I want to go back for a forth time and find anything new. BTW: If it is not a sythe, correct me lol, that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the object.
Hey everyone, I got question in the "Graveyard" area, when I played the storymode the second time, I found that interest "flashing" graveyard that I think I didn't see the very first time; at least no flashing (see attach images). In front of the it, it shows some directions - "left", "upper right", "lower left" and "right"... anyone know what is it? is it the direction to open the secret room? thanks
spoiler (highlight): Three levels after that, on Basement, there will be four switches. Click them in that order (left, top right, bottom left, right)
@ SoCal WELL WRITTEN!!! Gives me memories of the days in Zork I didn't get the gold button after hitting the wheel where is it? or did I have to do all the other stuff in previous levels. I figure I probably only have to unlock each level/secret on it's own page. Can't believe I made it that whole way and missed that! Again, great professional job!
It's kinda fun to read this thread on iPod 'cause highlighting doesn't do a thing (I know it's written in white and highligting makes the background blue but it just doesn't seem to work) EDIT: The only way to do that seems to be by copying and pasting the text
Here is a bit that I gathered, I will try not to repeat what has already been said: In the dining room the food is still on the table, partially eaten. To me it doesn't make much sense to commit suicide in the middle of dinner. Was he secretly poisoned? Is there any way to confirm who was in the chair? I recall the top of his head showing a tiny bit of brown hair. In the treasure room. Is that parrot the same one seen in the pictures? Has it been stuffed? I can't wait for the story to be revealed if it ever is.
This is driving me crazy. I want to play the mini games, but I feel compelled to play the adventure all over again. UGHHHHH! Mosiquitos! I didn't even mess with them in the last levels after the portal was open....
Hey So-Cal, I was also impressed with your write-up! You only missed a few things, or really in most cases just missed something telling about them, but all in all, it's first class sleuthing! - Randy
Been playing this for hours. Pretty awesome game. One of the few games that gives you the feeling that there is hope for the appstore...
@SoCal: Flipping the switch in the dining room turns on the chandelier light, and the secret in the room shows a "Train Ticket" for the two names listed.
I'll answer some of your questions. The paintings are there to tell you the story of the Bryce family, and it's pretty obvious once you pay it attention. I will try to write the story for you guys in the near future, but first I have to make sure I understood it perfectly. Also (SPOILER), even tough I found all secrets, there's supposedly some secret room (as far as the archievements say) I wasn't able yet to get into, even tought I am pretty sure in what level it is, and I also found a few secrets that hint me to the location of that room. You can replay the game right after finishing it, you can't select levels tough (as far as I know) There are some other modes, beside the story mode (that you are probably playing), modes which are much more challenging. I personally wouldn't expect a enemy spider, as the AI would be pretty hard to program. In the best case, we would get a buggy and manipulable spider. (even tough the quality we got from developers thus far makes me think they might surprise us with a uber-good quality spider) And yh, I'm lovin' the game , completed it twice, now the third time I photo every single clue I find so that I can determine where that secret room is and find out the story (wouldn't have expected to get so addicted to this game )
Story Theories OK, here’s my write-up, based on SoCal’s, but trying to focus on the two story lines. If you have come here looking for puzzle solutions, if it’s not too late I urge you to go try again—it’s fun to play the game multiple times, and a lot of fun to figure out the puzzles. They aren’t that hard, although you may want to write things down or do little sketches as you go. I’d be especially interested in what SoCal and NagaRoyalGuard think, as well as anyone else who has completed everything. Have I correctly identified the dead man? First, the theory: CK (Cosmo Kramer Bryce?) had a treasure from his seafaring days. He hid it elaborately, then died somehow. Meanwhile, his some sons N and R grew up, with R in N’s shadow, even in the affection of L Stewart (later LS Bryce). N went off to war, won a medal, and then left again (either travelling or thought dead). L married R, although it’s possible she kept corresponding with N, at least after he turned up again. R was obsessed with the treasure, but couldn’t find it (possibly annoying L). Meanwhile, bills piled up. Finally, L left with N, leaving a note. Either L or R tore up some stuff, burned some letters, discarded lockets and rings (not sure who, but all our clues to the broken love). Then he took some pills and died. Then a little spider came along and figured out what he could not… Here’s my full write-up, based on SoCal’s; unanswered questions are at the end: Front Yard: nothing, except some pots (someone was a gardener). Porch: newspapers, showing this house is only recently empty. Entranceway: On the table there is a picture of a women (L, I guess), and a bottle of booze. Oh, L, why did you leave me! (sobbing). In the SECRET area above light is what looks like overdue bills. Mail on floor, confirming recent abandonment. Foyer: In this room you can interact with the large grandfather clock by jumping on it. You hear a few of its mechanics working and then it ticks to 9 PM. (SECRET) Next to the clock is a picture of CK, N, R, and BY Bryce. The clock shows 8:54 originally (I think, SoCal thought 8:45). Shelves: There is a boxing trophy saying "R Bryce, No 2" and then a large silver cup labeled "N Bryce, 1st". There is a picture showing N Bryce being awarded a medal, and it looks like he’s in military uniform. Another picture depicts N Bryce and L Stewart and R Bryce. N Bryce looks happy, R Bryce looks sad, and L is closer to R. We find a SECRET compartment in the desk showing what looks to be a red ribbon, two markers, and a blueprint of a house that has been drawn on with "?" and "X". This clearly seems to be evidence of search for treasure, through the classic method of measuring walls and trying to see where the secret room is. Pantry: In this room we find a SECRET picture of N Bryce, the picture looks as if it has been ripped in half. Kitchen Sink: There is a ring (wedding ring?) down the drain of the sink. Intentional? Bathtub: SECRET box with perfume and a letter with a heart sticker on it (secret love letter, of course). Linen Closet: SECRET found in the basket, containing what looks like a spackle knife. There’s an X on the wall, and a flashlight. The search was getting intense…wonder if this obsession with the treasure made L mad? Is that why she left? Library: Click the red button and the clock illuminates the 9PM time. (SECRET) On the design of the clock, there is a scythe, wheel, and hammer. We will see this symbol many more times. On the desk, there is a paper labeled CK. There is a bottle or book spine on the top shelf with a dead bird in or on it. Garden: nothing I could see here. I think maybe L liked to garden, but that’s just a guess (her husband was too busy looking for treasure). Well: There is a golden heart-shaped necklace dropped into the well with N Bryce and L. At the bottom of the well is a doll. Was this intentionally thrown down here? By N or L? Fountain: Important part: hit the tombstone of CK Bryce and it illuminates (SECRET), on the bottom there is a special pattern that is used in the basement. Clothesline: This level is just a lot of fun. Under The Stairs: The light is only used to attract the moths. Basement: Use the pattern on the buttons. The SECRET is behind the oven which contains letters saying N Bryce and L Stewart. Who put them there? N? L? R? Staircase: Portrait of CK Bryce, pointing to where the key goes in the hearth. SECRET in cabinet illuminating what looks to be a bell tower on the top floor of the mansion. Music Room: In the viola or cello is the SECRET, it shows a package with CK Bryce and N Bryce. Was the wheel in this, that opens the secret room? Picture of N Bryce, CK Bryce (with his parrot), and R Bryce. Another picture of N Bryce wearing medal and is in some sort of ceremony. There is a trumpet, violin, and piano in the room. Bedroom: In this room, the SECRET compartment has the award/medal necklace that N Bryce has been wearing. On top of the desk is a note—hard to read. Looks like it might be to R from L. There is a red ribbon on the ground, like in the "Shelves" room. There is a picture of R Bryce and a women getting married—I’m guessing L, when N was away or thought lost. I think the room shows signs of L’s packing up all her things and leaving… Rose Window: Fun room; don’t think it means anything. Roof: Remember the illusion of the bell tower on top of the mansion? Well, this is no bell tower, but on top of this roof there is a SECRET room with a golden diagram of some sort of puzzle (with a red ribbon on the ground). It depicts a wheel and a fireplace. It shows how the wheel goes into the hearth to open it. I’m guessing that the dead man tried to put it in the hearth, but was puzzled why it didn’t work (just like I was, until I figured out the basement). Dining Room: Picture of a sailing ship in stormy weather (I don’t think this indicates CK died at sea—it could, but if your father died in a car accident, would you hang a picture of a car accident on your wall? I think this is just more nautical atmosphere). SECRET document looking like a train ticket portfolio saying N Bruce and LS Bryce. Not sure what this means, but I’m guessing it shows how L left with N… Living Room: Corpse in a chair, pills on the ground, a suicide. But wait, remember that picture of N Bryce ripped in half (with the other half missing) in the Pantry room? This picture is a perfect fit. This is L Stewart. OK, theory time: N left, L married R, then N came back. L was mad at R for his obsession with the treasure, and so she packed up and left. R killed himself. Hearth: Hit the wheel above the hearth, and the golden mantle will disappear and be replaced with a keyhole. Go in it, it’s the secret room. How a person gets in here, I don’t really know, but it’s easy for a spider. Treasure Room: The treasure and CK's parrot (stuffed). This must be CK's valuables. Unanswered questions: What’s with the clocks and 9 pm? Do they have to be set at that time for the treasure room to work? Does CK indicate that somehow in a portrait? (I haven’t tried not activating them and seeing if I can still get to the treasure room, but I’m guessing at least one is required—perhaps one is meant as a clue CK left, and the other the activation). What’s with the doll in the well? Is my theory correct that L left R for N? Where was N? Was he thought dead, or just left (the picture of him getting on a ship wearing his medal)? I’ve focused on the R/N/L drama, but CK and the treasure is a bit different. I assume he was a sailor, traveler, pirate…he hid the treasure, but why did he not tell his sons where it was? Was the package in the cello a piece of the puzzle, and he thought his dumb kids would figure it all out with that and all the other clues? (Maybe the kid should have visited his father’s grave more). How did CK die? I’ve ignored their mother, BV, because I saw no other clues, but what happened to her? Did N&L make it away? Or did R catch them and kill them? That might explain some of the gardening going on…I prefer to think they did leave, but that would explain the train ticket and some of the other items left behind…perhaps we’ll find out more when they add the gardening shed room to a future update…
