Also, any idea when Spider Gwen might be released? Im starting to save iso-8 so i can pull her from the event portal, unless she's a legend which would cost more, but i think she'll be an epic
Yeah, I think Ben Reilly Spider-Man is one of the best for medium-level players (like me!). If I'm using him, I don't have to try for so many near-misses; I can play a little safer and still keep a combo run going. If you're more confident in your combo-stacking/last-second-dodging, Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider is probably the best card so far (30% combo bonus, +1 to attacks... so, 2.6x score for attacks, 1.3x for everything else). My score always climbs the fastest with him... until I die trying to keep my combo going. Yeah, I'd be really surprised if she wasn't. I think the next legendary card will probably be the symbiote suit (and everyone will spend ALL the iso-8). They better give him good abilities; some new skills would be nice, actually.
Looks like I need to start getting Ben Reileys then Had about 7 armour spideys in the past week or so. Used 4 for fodder and the. Started to rank him up. Just to try and have another 5/5 star.
Yeah, I think you're right. It looks like Scarlet Spider (Ben Riley) is still the best for maximizing score. Maybe one day we'll see a challenger, but his abilities are hard to top.
This is follow-up to a question posted awhile back in the thread regarding the 10% vial bonus -- does it happen in-game or at the end when you die? The beginning of the Spider Girl event has a couple of vials scattered on the ramps and under the platforms. This allowed me to test the +10% vial bonus of a regular Spiderman. I've confirmed that the game gives you the 10% during your run. You collect 10 vials, but the counter will say 11 -- oddly, you will actually get the +1 bonus before you hit the 10th vial.
Isn't bulletproof better than scarlet? I mean double points for misses and attacks but normal rings. Double points also means you'll get to 40+ easily if you loose your combo.
Yeah, I really like Bulletproof too, because it's so easy to get high combos, but I think Scarlet Reilly gives you a higher score overall with the 30% bonus. Bulletproof is 2 + 2 + 1 for attacks + near-misses + rings, so one of each would give you 5 overall, and Scarlet Reilly is 2.6 + 1.3 + 1.3, so 5.2 overall (assuming an equal number of the three combo types on average). Again, though, you have to be really good at combo-stacking to maximize his potential. And funnily enough, just after mentioning how Ben Reilly Spider-Man makes it easier for mid-level players to keep a combo going, I got my longest combo yet today to illustrate my point. (Of course the mechtopus killed me as soon as I took the picture.)
Apparently, there will be an epic ends of the earth spiderman. I was browsing through my friends list and saw the Nick Fury highscore (the one with a 500,000 highscore) and he has the epic version of ends of the earth. Although the pic is upside down :/
In comparing SS (Ben Reilly) to Bulletproof/battle-damaged, don't forget dodges as well (lasers and the green probes that drop from the sky). Bulletproof/battle-damaged (full stars) = 2x enemies, 2x near misses, 1x rings, 1x dodges = 6 SS (Ben Reilly, full stars)= 2.6x enemies, 1.3 near misses, 1.3 rings, 1.3 dodges= 6.5 BUT style of play also matters. SS (Ben Reilly) shines if you can keep a combo going because Bulletproof/battle-damaged get to the 100 point per combo level faster (as noted by icemilktea). If you can't sustain your combos and find yourself restarting often, then bulletproof/battle-damaged is better. Once you can really sustain the combos, Scarlet Ben starts to pull away.
[whisper]gameloft are watching. Got 3 premium pulls (unlimited leaderboard, daily reward and half price) got vanilla spidey Epic Ben Reilly and Rare Scarlet Spider (BR) . Which is an amazing coincidence... Or is it...[/whisper]
So for the past week or two, I haven't gotten the half-price premium portal offer at all. I'm logging in, grabbing the daily portal, doing some runs, and basically everything that I've always done, but now I've amassed over 100 ISO-8, and don't have anything to do with it. If those offers are just over, I'll blow them on full-price premium portals, but I don't want to start doing that and end up with half the number of pulls because I'm missing something. Other than the event runs and sometimes an Unlimited run, I can't progress in the story anymore. I've got a level 70 Spider-Man, and the only missions available are ones that require event-only/premium Spider-Men, or I have to be over 70. Even if I manage to max out a 6-star Spidey, I have a feeling that it won't be good enough to carry me through to the next chapter when it's released. And at this rate, there will be at least six issues, so It seems like a 7-star Spidey will be the only way to complete the whole thing. To me, that's a legit pay wall. I can deal with timers and stuff, but to get a Spider-Man at that level requires beating ridiculous odds. Let alone getting that same Spider-Man enough times to rank up to the max.
Even though I'm often the guy with the highest multiplier in an event, I'm all for these "multipliers don't matter" style events. That said, these specific "he who plays most wins most" events are a piss poor implementation of what is otherwise a lofty goal. Make it "KO the most enemies in a single run" or "collect the most X in a single run" or something if you want to cut multipliers out of it, but "play this event for four days straight" is pretty lame. I've been anticipating Mayday for long before she was announced or the idea of a female Spidey even seemed like a remote possibility, but I have a family and a life and I'm not going to trade them in for a Spider-Girl!
Exactly! I completely agree. It would be great if they had goals based on skill, instead of multipliers or who can spend the most time playing the game. Most KOs/vials in a single run would be fine, and what about just longest distance in a single run? That would seem like the simplest skill-based competition. (Of course, they might have make it truly unlimited for that to work.) I hope you're listening, Gameloft!
Haha, I'm afraid that would turn in to a different version of "play four days straight" for some of us, unless the game gets faster than the current max cap or starts introducing some truly random areas.
That happened to me as well then I randomly started getting them again 2 days ago. Not sure what caused it or fixed it, but maybe it'll clear up for you too.
