It's basically automatic for me now after 340+ hours playing the game*. Lots of practice. Every time I die, I ask "why did I die and what should I have done differently" and try to program myself to act differently every time I encounter that situation in the future: whether it's taking the left path around a particular obstacle, not trying for a specific near miss, or remembering that it's better for a combo counter to reset than probably die trying something extra risky.

It's not about the multiplier, it's about being able to reach "great run" consistently. Once you do, the Spideys will come and the multipliers will follow, as well as the better awards, better Spideys, and better multipliers. But until I could reach "Great Run" consistently, I was lucky to finish in the top 10 of any given event. Now I almost always finish number one. Practice practice practice. And if you ever run out of energy, it's your fault: add more friends until you never run out of energy again no matter how often you die. Eventually your runs will last longer than 10 minutes and you won't need the energy, but it's super helpful for the practice it allows for you in the meantime.

*Yet it's still super fun for me to play as Spider-Man, to see those big combos and huge scores, to collect those Spideys and rank them up, to execute a series of last second swipes to maneuver around a rough patch of obstacles at high speed.

Ten minutes, huh? I can usually last a good 2-3 minutes.

Oh, and I do get a lot of energy. I make sure to send out an obligatory request for five per day, which is the max. Truth be told, it isn't just about practice for me, at least I don't think so. No matter how much I try to learn the courses and routes and "plan ahead" I always end up with way too many hazards on the screen at once to navigate around them.

lol You know you're in trouble when you are consistently having trouble REACHING the first boss and need to use ISO 8 to finish him off. I had to burn a huge amount of ISO 8 just to finish Issue 3 so I could have a fourth slot.

Not the game's fault I suck at it, but obviously I do.

Just curious how you play. Do you tend to strictly follow the vials? Do you jump over yellow and blue obstacles? What about enemies?

I know a lot of people, and even Shaun's guide on the main TA site, recommend playing safe, but damn it, I want to have fun. I often put myself at risk by trying to KO as many enemies as I can. I even try to get the guys who are staggered just a little in different lanes. Of course it gets me killed a bunch, but I think it has also made me way better at the game in general. Or at least it has made me enjoy it more.

One technique that's not obvious, but will help in sticky situations is that you can swipe down while in mid-air to thrust down to the ground into a slide.

Another thing that used to get me killed is that I'd jump from each platform/ledge to the next. Allowing yourself to just run off a ledge and still land safely on the next keeps you on the ground and safe a lot more.

I try to jump over the obstacles as much as possible, if for no other reason than to practice and get better at timing the jumps. I also try (not always successfully) to kill as many enemies as possible, both for the fun of it and for the combos.

Though I am not 100% sure what the point of the combos are. I assume that maintaining and adding to your combos somehow makes the score accumulate faster?

I do the same thing. Your comment about staggered enemies reminds me of one common configuration in particular that I have actually become good at when I see it:

The way it is laid out is there are three enemies, one in each lane. The one on the left is closest, the one on the middle is a little further, and the one on the right is the farthest. Then right after these three, there is a red beam to jump on right in the middle with an enemy on it (or maybe the enemy is aso on the center lane on the roof in front). I love that combo for some reason as I have it timed to get all four enemies.

This works better for me in Subway Surfers than in this game. I have found that because this game moves so damned fast and there are so many enemies and deadly obstacles on the screen, swiping down usually lands me smack into the wall of a building I would have landed on the roof of, had i not swiped. Swiping down doesn't work out very well for me most of he time. Not in this game.

I will definitely try this. Those ledges are horrible, and I never know when to go forward or attempt to go to a lower roof/platform.

Here is where I am having most of my problems:

    1. When I do finally get to a boss, I ALWAYS crash at some point before his health meter is done. I was able to get through the first boss when I was still on Issue 1, but once I passed that, I can;t even do the first bosses anymore, without some ISO 8 use. Honestly, there are too many obstacles, Spidey moves way too fast, and knowing when to swipe up at an enemy or blue disc verses down to go under something or to KO those enemies with the double shields that come together, versus going side to side to maneuver around things coming at me at a million miles an hour is too much for me to handle, and the worst part is I seem to have hit a plateau and can't get any better no matter how much I practice.

    2. I am still crashing in sequences and segments that I I know very well (r should know very well). Things like mis-timing a jump so I crash into the obstacle, ledge, or wall of a roof I am trying to land on; swiping left or right and crashing into the thing I am trying to go around, and WAY TOO OFTEN, zigging when I should have zagged. In the boss segments, sometimes I look at the way I died, and I realize that I should have just stayed in the lane I was in, and changing lanes is what led to my demise. Other times, I stay in a lane I should have changed from. It always seems like there are ten things on the screen at once during boss fights OR when things start getting really fast (after the first boss, if I invested some ISO 8 to get past him) and I can't seem to figure out the way around and over them all in real-time with the game moving so fast.

Oh, and, yes, I always try to follow the lane of coins, and that helps, though obviously not enough.

Yeah I got knocked down yesterday, just got a standard portal which is a bit sucky but moving on.

I am a bit stuck for increases my multiplier at the mo, unless the portal starts giving me someone other than vanilla spidey. Or I start to rank up my second one. I have a 5/5 and a 2/5 vanilla spidey, a 4/4 one, and a 4/4 different one. My line isn't the best atm :p

So with the vials challenge ive read that 'Ends of Earth Spiderman' is the best, so im curious: Does my 5 star Vanilla Spiderman ranked to max with the 10% bonus to vials collected help for vial farming? Im not sure if it counts for the event? And is it definately total vials or score?...

Dont quote me on it, but i think the 2099 spiderman with the bonus combo starter didnt actually count for the combo event too....

Combos are by far what makes up the bulk of your score. I mean when i got 100+ multiplier on an event, each maxed out combo (200 by using a spideys skill plus having a 40+ combo counter) adds to about 2kish per combo. I mean, PER COMBO point!! 13-14m points without any booster is normal for a great run in an event like that.
And bosses are about 500k each.

Thats how important combos are hahaha.

For the event, none of those you mentioned are counted. I've tested them personally.

Im sitting out the Superior Spidey progreesion reward this time. I still love this game, but im playing it less now and playing other titles more so 90k vials isnt viable for me to reach anymore.

Sorry, I am a little confused. When you say "100+ multiplier" are you talking about 100 combos on your screen or the multiplier you get from your Spidey cards in all four slots, or both?

What do you mean by "200 by using spideys skill plus having a 40+ combo counter?"

And what does it mean to have "about 2kish per combo, I mean, per combo point?"

And while we're at it, what does this mean: "13-14m points without any booster is normal for a great run in an event like that.
And bosses are about 500k each."

Sorry, but your terminology for the game is confusing me. I am used to Playstation, XBox, and PC games. The lingo here is not something I am familiar with.

^Basically, each score that pops up when you perform either a near-miss, ring hit, or hitting an enemy is multiplied by your total multiplier and is added to your score. It's by far the biggest factor added to your score total, so yeah, to get the best scores you need a consistent combo going on for the higher score scaling.

Thanks for the explanation. I have tried the near-miss route for getting my combo up (though not exactly sure why while I was doing it at the time) but while I am getting better at it, I still crash usually earlier in my run than I otherwise would when I do that. I think that since my scores are not anywhere near into even high six figures, let alone the millions, that maybe I need to learn how to actually get further into a run than worry about my combo counter? Not sure about that, which is why I asked.

I think that it is a high quality problem if you get 50K meters to the "Great Run!" end and have "only 5 million points" and that if I ever get to that level of play, then I will need to worry about my combo counter. But as long as my high scores are around 250 to 350K, would I be better off trying to get as far into an Unlimited Run as possible before concerning myself with the combo counter?

Seems to me that if I can't get to or get past the first boss consistently no matter how many runs I do, that combo counters are not as relevant to me at this point.

I think 10% bonus is in the score, not the overall amount collected.

Thats my plan at the moment, go as far as I can get without worrying about the combo's. Its the only way I am going to be able to progress.

But today is clearly my day, as I have just got a PB of 845,278 on unlimited. Not sure if that is good enought to stay in the top 9999, but fingers crossed. I will probably try to better it later.

Also got 700K ish on the event, putting me in 14 place. for now ;)

It does add to your total vial acquired at the end of the run where it shows the summary.

Yup... Vials added that way are NOT added to your score since they are only added at the end of the run, similar to how the +15% Vials upgrade is implemented.

My multiplier from the spidey cards in all four tabs. Its high because its in an event.

200 as in the number that pops next to the combo counter every time you hit an enemy/hit rings/perform a near miss.
Normally its 100 but i used bullet proof spidey.
40 as in the combo count itself (how many combos you have already performed).

Every time i perform a combo its 200*my multiplier which is 100+
So 2k is added to my score per combo performed.

Getting 13-14 million score without purchasing those item boosts with iso8 (the one on the left side of your spidey before you start each run) is normal if you can reach a "great run".
Bosses are worth 5000 points each, with a multiplier of 100 its 500 thousand points added to your score.

I may be heading that direction myself. I'm definitely going to do the 90k vial challenge since I don't have a Superior yet, but I've been playing waaaaay less per day the last few days. Solebon Solitaire isn't going to play itself. :p
