Uh... I dont know if i should be happy or not... I needed 4 rares to rank my epic bulletproof spidey to 6 stars, and epic regular spidey to 5 stars (i already have the duplicates), so i opened 2 premium portals to at least rank one of them up so i can level him up right away, only to pull an epic regular spidey (which means i have 2 duplicates that can take my existing one to 6-stars), and an epic Reilly Spidey (which can take my existing epic reilly spidey to 3 stars). On the bright side, i have these duplicates to rank my epics up further (2 of them to max), but on the other hand, i now need 8 rares to rank them up, with only 1 slot free, and with only a few ISO-8 left. FML.
As you saw, the consumables cost ISO-8, and I've yet to see a great use for them (certainly not unless its the difference between a first and second place score in an event that you're maxing out with a "great run"). But you can and should spend vials on upgrading your power ups, especially the shield (+5s per upgrade), then the web fists (+3s per upgrade, pure invincibility and a chance to punch obstacles for a better score/combo), then the x2 multiplier (also an extra 3 seconds of double vials and combo). The first two of these upgrades have absolutely extended some of my runs, and the third is great for scoring. I've never even once upgraded the magnet: I get most vials anyway, and the magnet just causes chaos on the screen and hides the "safe path" that vials reveal ahead of you. That said, you need that level 30 Spidey ASAP so you should probably start with your original plan. Definitely be happy! It's way easier to buy a couple extra slots than it is to save up for two VIP portals (which seems to be the only way I can get an epic/super rare these days)
I have been upgrading the powerups, but now I am at the point where they all need 80K vials for the next level. Youch! That's gonna take a while. Already underway. I pulled a Spidey Noir (4 star), which was a double, so I Ranked that card up to 2 stars. My 4 star Spidey Armor is now ranked to 3 stars so far and I ranked my Mangaverse Spidey to its full 3 stars. I don't yet have the fodder to rank up my Secret Wars Spidey, but I have three of them. On the other hand, I am a little pissed. I accidentally hit the button to pull a Standard Plus, which cost me 5 ISO 8 I had no intention of sending, certainly not on that! I really wish the game WARNED you with an "Are you sure you want to make this purchase?" but oh well. So I may just dump the three Secret Wars Spideys now that I already own a 3 star Spidey that is fully ranked up to 3 stars and level 21, which would be easy enough to level to 30. Oh and did I say I'm pissed? lol Oh and I pulled a 5 star Bullet Proof Spidey Armor from the 10 day free portal, but honestly, it's going to be a while before I rank that one up. I am not paying the ISO 8, so who the hell knows when I will get a double of that card?
I was able to add people as friends at one point, and every once in a while, I'm actually allowed to send and ask for energy from those people, but I can't figure out how to add more friends without connecting to FaceBook. Maybe I'm missing something. I kept pulling 4-star Armor Spideys and using them when ranking up other cards because I know there's a 5-star version in the premium portal. The same goes for the four 5-star Spideys I have on my team that I'm not doing anything with because there's a 6-star version. Am I just being crazy? My Noir Spidey is ranked all the way up, so I think that's good enough to progress through issue 2. What's the highest level Spidey you need for issue 3?
You can send five requests for energy per day. You can receive more than that if people opt to send them to you unasked. And yeah, you're a little crazy for not ranking up those Spideys, they're useful even if not the best versions of themselves, and it sounds like you don't have better. You'll need better for issue 3 (I forget already but I feel like level 60 was needed?)
Go to leaderboard and add them. I get three random requests each day. Just rank high in event and you wont have to add anyone, they will add you In issue three i hvae so far reached 66% and the highest they have asked me for is a level 52 spidey so far but only in the side mission
The level after the 80k vials takes 550 iso8 haha, so probably safe to consider the 80k vials the cap =p
Ive opned like 25+ premium portals probably more, and have not goten even one: Cosmic spider, bulletproof(rare or epic), scarlet spider
Except the 2x stats multiplier upgrade after the 80k vial one only Costs 26 ISO-8, which is obviously far more reasonable. Hopefully they all change over to that price.
I hear stuff like this and I really think its time to delete this game. Considering that they charge 99.99 for 750 and now you are saying that the final powerup level up is 550 each, it basically says that it would cost $99.99 for the privilege of the final upgrade for about 1.3 powerups. That is absolutely insane. That combined with the insane difficulty I am having playing this game when things start to get fast (I can't even complete the final Goblin mission in Issue 1) makes me think that I really need to go back to Subway Surfers for my iPad-infinite-run fun, and stick to my PC, PS4, and XBox One for games that you pay ONCE for and maybe have a few dollars in drips and drabs for DLC. lol Oh well. I think I am not long for this game.
That's not even the final power-up, it's the second to last. I don't even want to know what the final one will be... That said, someone mentioned that Gameloft is looking into those costs and that hopefully they will be brought into proper balance. I think it's a mistake to think of ISO-8 in terms of what you can buy with real money: those prices are Gameloft's wishful thinking and while I'm sure some people have spent the cash (and if by doing so they're paying off this game so I can keep playing it, then I'm cool with that), I've felt like I've had little trouble keeping up with them without having to buy my way to the top. I've won a few events, I consistantly get silver medals (50 ISO-8 from that these days is niiiiice) and the daily portal deal ensures that I always have a cheap shot at an upgrade. I could save up 550 ISO-8, even, if I felt the extra five seconds of shield was worth that to me, but I don't, and I'm getting to "Great Run" status more and more in events these days with what I've got. I recognize all that is just me, based on the stupid number of hours I've spent playing and my skill level, but man I'm having fun playing this game. I've even subscribed to Marvel Unlimited so I can read about some of these alternate universe Spideys (Spider-Man Noir is DAAAAARK!) and it's been great all around. If there's a chance you could learn to develop your own spidey-sense to know what's behind that next electric blockade before you even see it, then I'd urge you to stick with it! The difference between this and so many other freemium cash grabs is that this is a lot of fun just to play. For me. If it's no fun for you then I get it, but I hate to see anyone miss out, especially a fellow Spider-Fan. EDIT: Ooh, and you still have a rich vein of ISO-8 waiting to be tapped since you haven't completed more than 2/3 of the current issues. As you start to beat those, you'll unlock a ton more gameplay and multipliers and opportunity, at the cost of zero XBox games
@chiro: I was about to quit myself a week back but then something happened - i cleared the issue 2 last stage, which unlocked the third slot for me and suddeny, my entire perspective of the game changed. With a higher multiplier and obviously renewed interest i started getting top 50 in all events and got an easy premium portal for free from the unlimited runs every day. I think that is all you need too.
I guess thats how i lost the event before the last one. I mean i was pretty confident with a 7.3m but then ended up on 2nd
Bullet proof is the hardest to get for me :/ Reilly with no hoodie and normal spiderman is the usual pull for me.
I remember they did the same with Iron Man 3 -- Initially before all the content reached steady-state, the costs for the armors and upgrades were HUGE. After they updated the game, all of the armors dropped in price dramatically and they started giving out more ISO-8 in terms of daily and weekly challenges. I have a feeling that they will be doing that with Spiderman as well -- we are in the huge upfront cost stage as they develop more content (I mean we have at least 3 more episodes if it's 1 episode for each of the Sinister Six). I wonder what other upgrades or features they will be adding. I think they really should expand the Spider-sense slo-mo aspect -- like have an upgrade which is a 5/10/15/20% save to running into an obstacle via Spider-Sense.
For me the most common epics are Scarlet Reilly and Bulletproof. I really want the Regular Reilly Spidey though.
