Since we are all aware of the calendar issue, here's a tip if it hasn't been said before. Collect your daily reward, close the daily reward window and enter the store, now collect your daily free chest reward. You can repeat this every day you collect a daily login reward. Once you reset your device to the correct time, the daily free chest timer will show some ridiculous amount like 1000+ hour timer, disregard that as it's a bug and I noticed it clears out on its own.

Also I might continue to play this using only the fire premium sword even though I own them all. We will see how far that gets me, as I don't feel like calendar farming 5 bajillion gold to have a decent experience in this. Aside from the Wonka level of IAP in this game, I love the graphics and the puzzle elements are top notch, only thing I would suggest is a few avatars to choose from, maybe a female version as well, something different than the teenage kid character who personally is a little boring to look at.

Yeah, that was a scary moment!

It's indicative of how unbalanced this game is that even farming with the calendar trick is a LOT of work to get a reasonable amount of gold for slot upgrades and the like.

I'm surprised Eli and his moderators haven't popped in to defend the freemium tilt and reprimand the calendar exploit which can easily be likened to hacking/stealing.

Yes, and unfortunately this is Exhibit A for the argument behind online-only games (F2P at least).

I'm tempted too, to cheat for some coins etc. but after a long and hard fight, i finally unlocked world 6. I needed everything fully charged plus all three one-time uses. I won with 48 heal left, phew. A very helpful rune i found is Heal2. 1500 heal just on the first level, but it's needed urgently since their damage is getting badass.

At some points of the game i really thought that i hit the paywall, but the game is still going, but not without some grinding for coins and exp points, honestly.

Okay tried it and I liked it. However it's good and bad but I'll lean toward the bad side just because the timer (as health) is ridiculously tricky. You can lose no health or almost all your health in a bad match and as your health increases, the timer gets even longer. So in a way it's worse than a standard timer because the time keeps extending. I'm not sure how long it gets later as a full health charge at lvl3 is over 30 minutes. Considering how an average fight leaves me with a loss of almost half my health, this game is more than a grind.

That aside, like everyone said, it's a great game. I love how it's not online especially and I love the art. The game looks really big story wise (I love reading the story descriptions) and area wise. And it's only about 100MB ish. Amazing!

The dev just needs to release a paid version that gives you full health packs to stock up or something to remove this freemium cripple. There's no amount of money that will help you get past that. You'll just have to keep paying to continue.

    OK!

So....I was wrong on my initial post about the calendar swords. Now that THAT is out of the way...some impressions.

This game can be pretty fun, they pop out new enemies with new abilities often enough that it is mildly interesting.

I made it to the 5th zone so far, @ level 14 but I noticed even with cheating that some of the "Recapture" zones are INSANELY difficult. The calender swords are pretty cool but even with their damage going up as you level they get outshined by other purple tagged weapons with higher damage. The calender swords all have a modifier like "fire-slayer" etc that I couldn't seem to figure out what if anything it did. I did not notice much effect. When you find good purple tagged weapons a lot of the time they will come with all 5 rune slots unlocked, which is nice. Unlocking rune-slots is stupid expensive. The first 2 on any given item are pretty cheap but then the third jumps up like 1000 %. Ive seen some third spots on armor costing over 600k gold, which even with cheating seems impossible. I am not sure though, maybe in some of the later levels you get a ton of gold for beating the baddies.

Pretty fun game, but in my opinion I think the only real way to play it is to calender cheat. Everything is just far too grindy otherwise, and it would end up one of those "play for 5 minutes every 3 or 4 hours" kind of games. The other thing is, with that kind of play model how can anyone EVER get enough gold to unlock all the rune slots on things? All in all it made me want to play puzzlequest 2 again hehe, this game isnt quite deep enough to scratch that same itch, but is still fun.

Oh I also hate having to manually recharge my runes, its frustrating and takes too long, even with 20% recharge bonus. I found myself running around with just 1 rune spell and a bunch of passives. Just another thing I missed about PQ2. These are my general thoughts, not sure if Ill continue to play or not.

I did also spend a buck on stuff for the game, I had fun with it so heck why not eh?

Sad thing is once you do find out how broken these games are from a simple calendar issue and you get access to gear, you realize how ridiculous the IAP is when it has zero value. You also see how shallow elements in the game are.

Something is off there, as I'm in the 5th zone at level 8, about to hit 9. I'm early in the zone, but doubt I'll hit 11 in this zone?? I haven't used the calendar thing yet, if that matters. Maybe you leveled up more in recapture zones, I haven't had any. And maybe the zones scale to your level, dunno.

I don't worry about leveling about the spells much except on bosses. I do carry them, and use them when convenient.

I'd have quit if I hadn't committed to life drain gems. Its a pain to get them to level 3, but when you do, the leach jumps from 3 to 5%. So that is 15% from my 3 gems (well, actually 13%, but 15% soon), plus I have 8% on my current weapon. Working on leveling a 4th gem for grinding purposes.

Level 4 on the life leach gems is 1350 points, if I recall right. As in basically never, unless there is some way to power level the runes.

Has anyone seen a Life Drain II gem?

If so, please tell me so I can immediately stop working on leveling my 4th life leach gem.

I'm guessing they probably don't exist, as you can already get a health dose of life leach from 3-4 gems plus the effect on your staff (its rare).

The calendar cheat gives you a bunch of XP also.

There is a life-steal 2 rune, it starts at 3 i want to say then goes up. I had around 18-21 life leach. It wasn't as helpful as I thought, healing for 200 when getting hit for 2000 isnt really much of a trade hehe

Thanks. Guess I'll stop working on the 4th gem asap.

I dunno, I like it better than you do. I have 23% on my grinding set, 21% on what I bring to boss fights. My max recovery is about 750.

I still have some trouble maintaining health while charging and would like to get leach higher :)

Well, I LIKE life-drain, I just feel like to get a good enough one you have to have too many life-drain runes. I dunno though, I'm restarting so maybe I will go that route.

Yeah, I understand, it takes forever to level the gems to level 3, and level 4 looks like never. Hopefully, the Life Drain II doesn't need a ton more points to level, because the I's were bad enough.

So far, my thought on the ideal runes is: Enchant, Weaken to [whatever element is already weak], life drain x 3, and if you have an extra slot, Health.

So far I only have Weaken to Water, which is not worth using on maps 4 and 5 because of all the water-based enemies.

I used to like Health better, but Health I is getting kind of stale -- need health II. Health is also comparatively crappy on Map 5 because of the water based enemies.

I really want to like the game but the IAP and high difficulty level ruin the experience. I mean you have to pay ยข.99 every time you want to replenish your health after every battle. The difficulty is so hard that you can't win unless you spend money on high priced items. With that said tho, I like the art design of the game and the game in general is good.

I got a question for anyone who uses the Shuffle Tiles rune.

If you activate it, do any matches occur while the shuffling is happening? Or does it just shuffle the board and nothing else?

Also, what happens if you lvl up your Shuffle Tiles rune to lvl 2 (or beyond)? I'm guessing more tiles are shuffled.

    1) yes, matched tiles activate after the shuffle finishes.
    2) the higher the level of your shuffle (the more glowing bars used up) the more tiles are actually shuffled. Ex. Level 1 charge just shuffles a few, 2 shuffles a lot, 3 shuffles about half the board. These are not exact, just giving you an understanding hopefully.

Crap. Stuck in the 5th world less than half way. The second monster in one of the missions hits me for up to 1700 -- I have less than 6k health. AND I just upgraded my armor.

Found a water stats rune, but the description seems to be misleading, it appears to only add a water attack, not boost water resist.

I guess I'm gonna have to level, but it is starting to feel really painful to grind levels.

If you're talking about the rune with just the water symbol on it, keep scrolling down on the description. Add it to EITHER the weapon or the armor to boost that stat. Doesn't boost both at once, only the one you add it to.
