I see some pretty high prices in the app store, but if I can get those same items free just by logging in for 20 days in a row then that doesn't really bother me. I'm guessing that those prices are just to entice people to login day after day to get the rewards. Also, it looks like the amount of coins you get when you make a match or win a fight is based on your player's level, or may the enemy's level, the amount of coins I'm getting seems to be going up as I play more.
I don't know guys, I was really impressed by this game at the beginning but you hit a serious difficulty wall around the 3rd(?) area where the monsters hit like trucks. Lose that one fight and you're out for a couple of hours unless you pay *cough*. You'd think buying a new weapon would make you more powerful but it leaves you broke and it costs thousands of coins to just unlock the rune slots to keep using the runes you previously had equipped. This is a great game. I was thoroughly hooked at first. I just wish they would sell it to me for $5 instead of being just another cash grab. I really hate what iOS is becoming but hey somebody must be spending their money on these games or companies wouldn't keep doing this right? I'd be curious to hear if anyone was able to overcome the difficulty wall and complete the game.
The difficulty seems to be based a lot on level differences between your player and the enemy. When I level up the color of the enemy names changes from something like yellow to white. If you find an easier stage you've already beaten you can just grind that stage for awhile until you level up, then it's much easier to get through stages after that.
Make sure to get some of the passive runes, like defense, life drain, etc. These level up, just like the spell runes, so they will grow with you and should help you handle the harder stuff. I'm actually playing with just the heal as my only ability rune, so I can level up the defense, attack, and life drain runes since I only have four rune slots right now. I only play a little bit each night, though, so I can't tell you how far this will get me any time soon, heh.
Ye, you can't avoid grinding if you're a non-IAP player but you can use some tricks to have an easier time. As already said, equip the heal rune so it can level up. There is also a Rune called Transmute Water, which converts tiles into water ones. It's good to charge your heal spell faster. The drain rune is also nice but you wont get the most out of it if you don't "prepare" your board for huge combos. This is were drain really shines and preparing the board is a significant necessity later on in the game which you should learn as soon as possible. Best is, if you make several low combos and preparing a huge one at the same time. As soon as you hit the 4th map, your enemies will be based on an specific element and therefore are weak against other elements. Exploit their weaknesses by matching specific tiles but also the right equipment which give bonus defenses against their attacks as well as bonuses to dish out higher elemental dmg. Level 8 and on the 5th map so far and I'm still really addicted. Game mechanics, especially Runes and the general RPG part, are actually deeper than I thought when I started.
I was using the poison spell along with the heal spell which was a no brainer. I alternated between the defense, crit and attack boost. I just wish the run unlocks were permanent and not weapon specific so that I could keep leveling up all the runes. Let me know how it works out for you.
Here is an example to create an level 3 spell. It's a more easier way to set up a high dmg attack than it is to prepare a combo based of many cascades. Make sure you put the glowing tiles in one line and clear this line then by matching 3 or more tiles in the same line. Every glowing tile which gets destroyed will add one extra level to your spell which will be casted at the end of the round. This example wasn't the best cuz it's a water spell against a water element monster. If this were an energy spell the monster has surely losen half of its HP. So don't match the glowing tiles straight away but prepare a high level spell instead like showed in the screenshot.
Wow you're actually on the 5th map? How long have you been playing? I was at the part where you reach the Mage tower after you get out of the forest after rescuing the pixie. There is an enemy called "Corruption" and didn't have any elemental weakness. Again fantastic game, the only reason it's is not on my ipad currently is because I updated to the latest iOS so I lost my progress. This was about a month ago. I could have had an epic weapon by now if I had kept at it lol. The way I found this game is that I was so impressed by Plundernauts I decided to check out all of Backflips other games. I will add it back on to my ipad shortly.
I just reached the 4th map im lvl 6 I'm using a 2/5 staff 15att 8% extra move and a 2/4 13def 8% crit. Wondering if I should wait for a 3/5 w similar bonuses or add a rune slot for 10k. I've got 22k saved up. I'll keep an eye out for the transmute water. Drain life. 2 Poison 2 Heal 2 Shuffle tiles almost lvl 2
Little correction here; on the 20th day you don't get to pick a weapon they are charging 80$ for, you randomly get an "epic" item out of like 10 selections. 5 of which are runes that do something nifty (valued at 5$) and 5 of which are weapons. I'm guessing it's a 99%+ chance of getting a rune.
Yes it is lol. A little trick that i found out, i guess: very low on health, i grinded (having fun and learning to set things up better) on a lower world my health- and enchant-rune to the max. Don't charge them and leave the game. I came back about three minutes before my health was auto-restored completely and i had this runes as a backup against the next strong enemy. With my full health auto-restored, i lost both of them. I'm in world 4, 13/19, character lvl 7, got 4 runes (health, defense, energy, enchant) and every new stage feels like a game of chess against a stronger opponent ! Besides beeing able to always play the game (well, without a real progress while on low health of course), the art-style, the atmosphere with this fantastic music and the fact that i can think and plan my moves as long as i want makes this game to my personal GOTY contender ! No kidding, i even put on my notification to farm the three beaten worlds, i confess... Edit: thanks Nekku for the tips
But the description on the left side in the calendar says I'll get an epic item of my choice and I should tap the button to see more infos. So when I tap it, it only shows the 5 available elemental swords as well as the calendar icon which is only showing the 5 swords. Where do you got that info from? Played for many hours so far, probably 7 or 8? The monsters have recaptured the 3rd map and I have to redo it completely, hah. I already knew this though, it was mentioned in the help section that it will happen and stronger monsters will appear on already captured Maps and that they will give greater rewards than the normal ones, but I couldnt imagine that it will be the whole map which gets recaptured, ugh. Hmmmmm...
I'm guessing that's because without it you could enter and leave a fight until you found the best board layout.
Ouch, then i'll farm them as long and fast as possible. Which world are you on, still the 5th or the 6th already ?
I am pretty sure this is not correct, you choose the weapon you get. The random ones are for days 5, 10 and 15, the epic is for 20
