upgrade your runes by equipping them and using them.

I have gotten into playing this game a lot. on my 17th day, can't wait to get my 1st claidham or whatever. I think I'm gonna take either the green one that destroys purple or the final one that destroys corrupt.

kinda annoyed by how equip doesn't necessarily seem to work though. like, I had 56% crit from equip/runes and I rarely saw the "crit hit" message. abandoned that build for drain and attack but now I've found a pretty nice piece of armor with 19% extra move and I'm wondering if I should drop the 85k (plus 2 new rune slots ugh) for something that may or may not even work.

I think the difficulty of this game is what keeps me coming back.

Extra move is not really worth stacking. I think we figured out that it is only once per attack cycle. So if the monster attacks every 4 turns, then there is a X% chance that it will be every 5 turns. No chance it will be 6 at all.

Drain definitely is not linear -- 40 drain is better than 20 drain, but not twice as good, and it certainly doesn't do 40%. I think you want drain on your weapon if you can find a good one, and on armor I want crit or an element resist.

I stopped playing for a few weeks and am now slowly working through the last two zones.

Hello all. I've been lurking - read all 31 pages - and never actually posted. Gotten many good tips. Thanks to all.

Here's a question I haven't seen answered: does anyone know when the gold "3" runes start appearing in the store? I have decided to stop using my silver Steal Life 2, Extra Move Chance 2, etc. because I figure "using" rune points on them is a waste. Just curious when people started noticing them.

Also: I'm on Temple of Earth right now and I don't see how to open up the last two enemy spots. I've beaten all the monsters close to those two spots and they're still locked. My guess is that I will have to beat all the monsters on the map, not just the ones close to the locked spots.

I can answer at least one of my own questions. I didn't see any gold "3" runes at all through my character being level 15. Shortly after I hit level 16 a gold Critical Boost 3 showed up in the store. I am currently in the Temple of Earth.

I'll answer my other question as well in case anyone comes here looking for the answer.

In the Temple of Earth there is a path straight through to the boss but you can't actually get to the boss by only defeating those monsters down the middle path. I didn't get the last two monster spots to open up until I had defeated every other monster on the level. I went down the middle first and then finished the lower arm of the map. Finishing the lower arm first did not open up the path to the boss. Then I finished the upper arm and it did open up those last two spots. It's possible that it opens after you finish the top arm and the bottom arm is irrelevant - but I assume you have to finish both. Compare that to the next level, Denkuts Cavern, where you really can take a very short path to the boss and avoid about 75% of the map. It appears that this is possible in the next level also - Temple of Spark - but I haven't gotten to the boss yet.

    Game has no ending

Finally finished every monster & cleared the entire map

It's a fun game and did get me hooked long enough to finish the whole game map. I was disappointed that there is no endgame to this whole thing. Despite finishing the whole game map, there's no real closure to the game.

Felt like I battled through all map sectors for nought.

Just to add that there's no need to spend real money to get through the game. And yes,the special swords do help.

Is it just me or did the "rewards" for defeating silver enemies get much worse about a week ago? I'm talking about the item added to the store, not rune points or gold or xp.

They will show up, at least as early as level 14 (rarely). Not sure if it is tied into progress, but they stated showing up, for me, at 14 and the 1st Fire area complete (possibly the second fire area complete, as I became 14 to beat the boss there)

    6. Lucent (actually useful throughout)

*Corrupt is the best though. No fancy special attack like the others.. But totally worth it... Same with corrupt armor.

Mr. Dobbs! Hello! I saw a few of your posts on the FB page. You're clearly very knowledgeable so I'm hoping I can ask you a follow-up question from one of your posts. I was about to post this on FB but since you're here I'll post here in hopes of getting this forum going again. Sorry if this is creepy to refer to your posts elsewhere.

You said you got the Corrupt sword by chain killing gold enemies and said the first spot in the first area is the best. Do you mean fighting the enemy in that first area over and over again and hopefully getting gold enemies to show up? I've tried doing that and I get a gold enemy there maybe one time out of five. In fact it seems like gold enemies are showing up there less and less. Is there a way to get gold enemies to consistently appear?

I don't know if it matters but my character is level 25 and I'm in the second-to-last map area (the first corrupt area).

    Thanks!

There's no way to get gold enemies to appear faster. However, gold enemies only show up in certain stages, so make sure you're continuously playing a stage that can have a gold enemy show up. With each success against a gold enemy you get a chance for good loot, which seems to include all of the epic items, and some of the new legendary items too (which have white glowing flags). Those items have coin prices instead of money.

Thanks Spinsbee. Do you know all of the areas where gold enemies appear? I wish I had been keeping track. I only know two for sure, the two places I've seen a gold enemy most recently. Everlight Village 1 and Darkon Vale, square on the right side, upper right.

    Yes.

I started with Augur's Forest. There is an offshoot in the upper right corner. Gold boss is a spider and common enemies are glob and spider.

I then went "searching" to learn the gold enemy mechanics.

So really, there are several aspects to take into account:
    Do you need money?
If so, pick the location that is "hardest" to beat, but offers little to no down time. I liked the Augur's spot, as it was 125-500 gold per kill, 1-4 RP, and little XP. (Gold spider is 416 gold for winning, + what you pick up. Other enemies are ~120+. Gold spider is 4 RP, normal spider is 2 RP, rest are 1 RP.) LOW xp is key, as prices increase per level.

That's where I farmed most of my gold at lvl 9-11.

For getting Gold enemies to spawn, the very first fight, in the very first area is best.

RP 2 for spiders, ~50 gold per kill, minimal XP.

Don't go for x4 combos or rows. You want fast kills. At 13-14, I can kill them in one +3 matching. I don't remember if it was much more when I started... After the first Epic sword, it was one combo.

Remember, it is # of kills per unit of time that matter, so "overkill coin bonus" is your enemy. Also, just ignore the items in the store unless it looks like what you're after. (My wife can't pass up looking at every item every time :p).

    *edit*
I wrote my reply for general information.

    Since you're 25, just skip to 1st fight/1st area.

If you've turned on reclaim areas, this may not work effectively. I had mine off while getting the items.

Thanks. I get gold enemies to spawn in the first area, first spot about one time in five or six. Just this morning I happened to get the Lucent Claideamh after a gold enemy there; much better than whatever worthless item dropped from my last gold monster in Darkon Vale. So, I was wrong to assume that more difficult gold enemies drop better items.

Gold enemy items have the same chance as the platinum box (5%) and sliver have the same chance as the gold box (1%).

So the key is, as many as possible in the shortest amount of time.

Since 1.6, this has become "harder" as the legendary weapons are added in. Legendary weapons, however, have a chance from any enemy and feels like a 5-10% chance from gold.

Pre-1.6, getting the swords/armor from gold enemies became "easier" as you bought them up. That is to say, the ones you were looking for came more frequently as the pool to choose from dried up. (5% chance out of 3 items vs 13, for example)

There are now 10 or so new items... And these never go away, so the Epic items have become "rarer" in the loot tables.

Oh... And I thought the same. Apparently that only applies to "common" items and elemental runes (maybe wrong on the runes... But I only see them from the similar areA).

Want gold runes? Spam kill easy fights.
Want a specific purple item? Well.. Try the easiest boss fight (in my experience)
Want a legendary/epic item? Spam kill easy Gold fights.
Want the special runes? (Toxin, Rejuvenate, Stun) Spam kill easy & Gold fights.

XP, Gold, and RP will increase from harder fights... though I found that rune leveling was quicker at 1-2/ easy fight, than the higher fights. If looking to max those, I do a "harder" boss, and recharge/heal from easy fights. (With fire mastery maxed, I can fight Magma dooder several times without needing downtime... I can also flip the play screen x3 to x4 with gold coins, if I need cash.. ~5-8k per kill)

    Thanks for all the help.

First-terminology. "Epic" means Lucent and Corrupt Claideamhs plus cold/fire/poison/shock/water Claideamhs and Loricas, right? And then is "Legendary" referring to the "Brofist" and "Jeffyr's Longsword," etc.?

When you say "they never go away," you mean I could buy them and keep them and they will still show up in the store? I had been buying lame Loricas that I didn't want so that I wouldn't get them from gold enemies. But you're saying now there is no incentive to buy something you don't want, right?

Are you saying fight boss spots over and over again, or is the chance of purple better from a boss that has not yet been defeated in your experience? Sometimes the boss changes, even without recapture.

Does anyone know if the "calendar trick" still works? That is, where you change the date on the device so you get your daily reward and your daily free treasure box more quickly? I am wondering if they have fixed it. I have never done this but I'm thinking about doing it now because I have the Lucent Claideamh sitting in the store and we basically can't play the game until we get it, because we don't want it to drop out of the store. We keep going into battles to collect gold and then losing intentionally. It's lame. But I have never had the Lucent Lorica drop before and I really want it.

The Spellfall Facebook account claims that rewards are much better in recaptured areas. In my experience, this is total crap. I went through several recaptured areas and didn't get anything good. But my experience is limited because I turned off recapture after a week of failing to get good stuff. Anyone else agree/disagree with this?

Last question... after beating the end boss in the last area, does it take you automatically to the new map? Or can you linger in the old map for a while to build up gold and farm items? I'm wondering if I need to hold off on the final boss fight until I have a bunch of gold.

Terminology: correct. (Epic = pale yellow flag, Legendary = bright white)

"Never go away": I'm not 100% on this, as I'm not 25 (or max for the plus game). I do know, if you buy one and then level up, the item is there again. At the enormous prices, it would be a huge undertaking to buy at low levels, just to up the chance at the Epic items.

I would not buy a legendary until at LEAST 25, then farm up to recoup the gold before going to a plus game. Epics go up with lvl, legendary's will decay as you level.

Calandar trick works still. It has 2 drawbacks:
    1. As far into the future you go, is how ling the timer counts up for your freebie chest.
    2. You may have to redo each area's boss fight to get gold spawning again.

I tried it on my phone (since I primarily play on a tablet).

Recaptured having "better items" merely means... Well... If you kill spot 1/1, and it is the same as when you started... 99% if the items will be "black flag" (lowest rarity). The closer the fight is to your level, the "higher" rarity of the rewards. Supposedly the coin bonus goes up too.. But it was mire of a hassle (for me) to lose my recoup areas & have to redo boss fights at higher level. (Especially when I can coin out Magma for 5k+(at lvl 15/16) faster than area coins regen)

    Edit:
    Missed some..,

Boss fights have better purple chances. Some bosses are harder than others (depends on player & gear mostly)

I dunno about beating the final guy and starting a plus game. I hope it would be an opt-in type and not automatic.

You referred to getting coins from Magma earlier too... what do you mean by that? If I had my game in front of me I'm sure I would see what you're talking about but I don't have it here.

Magmor. The boss of the Temple of Flame (sorry, didn't have access on my phone)

Granted, I have the corrupt armor, but any lorca or a decent armor would do... I was using 3, drain 2 runes, a heal 2 (later got heal 3), fire mastery maxed for armor and water mastery maxed for atk.

While I did have 10 rune slots filled, those 6 were the only ones I used.

I did 5x combos in vertical:
    X
    X
    O
    X
    X

To make the vertical convert tiles.

I would make 5 of these and place them at the bottom.

I would also make a 4-way tile from coins for the 6th slot.

Then I trigger the coin convert and rack up moola. It comes out to ~1.5k per conversion, + the victory coins.

During the fight, I use the heal rune and then finish him off the same way as I collected coins.. Only the 4-way is water... Life drain 2.5-3.8k off him and fills heal 3 up 2.5 charges.

At 25, you'll probably kill him too fast... But the strat works for any elemental boss.
