Funny I was just thinking all this the other day. Even tried going back through the thread because I remember someone saying they were swimming in gold by X level, must've been you sheinfell. But by the way it's going for me, I can't really imagine it happening for me. I mean, @ 5 gold per win, I need 20 wins to get a 10 card booster, and 70 wins to get the 350 gold booster. (Excluding 15 each level up for simplicity). That's a fair amount. However, I do understand there needs to be a challenge, and the goblins need to make back the hard effort they've been putting in. It would be cool to see some adjustment at some stage. There's several ways, being either re-designed in game, or maybe even a "double-reward" weekend every now and then, where you get 10 gold a game, and if possible, same thing for multiplayer or more, to revitalise that online community. (If this is at all possible...it may mean going towards a goblin server implementation rather than Game Center). The possibilities are out there though.
From memory: The amount for a win has been increased since the start, especially 2-player The large packs are 50 less. Achievement gold rewards are same I think. The amount of starting gold, after first install, is less since the earliest versions. The amount of gold received for the two biggest IAP options has already been increased for the incoming update. Gold for gaining a new level definitely increased since start. So overall, not that much has changed since we started. When I first set this up, I analysed the other CCGs out there'd for iOS and aimed for 50% of their pricing. But the emphasis has always been that you don't need the whole set. You do need the important utility cards, which are generally common and uncommon, so are easily to acquire. Yes, new sets will require more gold - buy they will come with extra campaign levels too of course. And there is nothing stopping players, myself included, in slowly collecting gold before then, since the next faction is a long way off. Gold shouldn't be a problem then, unless you really want to collect as many cards as possible. We can see that the majority of players at 50 haven't spent any real money at all, which is totally fine by us, as we are just happy they liked the game enough to go all the way. Steve @ ThreeGoblins
Yes all those need a server. Apple's approach doesn't let us make live changes in this way. We can, however, via this board, arrange tournaments and send the winner gold directly. At moment we are working on the in-game chat which I believe will breathe some life into 2-player games, as at least you can communicate with the opponent. Why this isn't a standard part of Game Center still baffles me. We did plan to release Air faction next but, since most play 1 player, we are considering pushing Air back until after the revamped 1-player campaign. That will inevitably provide more levels too = more gold Steve @ ThreeGoblins
I think if you play to level 50 you should get 50 x 65 gold which is 3250 gold. You also get gold for the achievments, point for point. Also you win 5-10 gold per 2 player win. We can increase the winning amount though, maybe it is better to have more gold rewards at higher levels. I think steve will change things with the new campaign idea he has.
I must play more than most then, I've bought lots of gold lately to support the devs, but I remember in the early days saying there was too much free gold given away as I always had more than I needed. Yeah you'll only get a certain amount for the actual campaign, but you can sit and grind out as many games as you like so the free gold is pretty unlimited. Fact is you've got a game you can play unlimited for free, you want bells and whistles, then you have that option too. If you still want more rare cards, put your hand in your pocket, it's hardly expensive and I'd guess that the goblins are not exactly buying retirement homes in Maui from what they earn from the game!
And I still disagree entirely about the two player vs single player thing. I can't be bothered explaining why I know I'm right
Any ideas Sheinfell? I says you are connecting then just hangs. Your connection again? For gods sake just buy the £17 plug in!
Same here, I was stuck with the GC "connecting" message. And no, this time it was not my connection, 2-3 bars should be good enough. Oh, and I still don't think a repeater will help. Our computers work perfectly fine, with almost full connection even at the other end of the house. Still need to run a test with the old iPod, that one is on iOS4 or so. But I will get a repeater sooner or later, just need to find the time somewhere... I could only get one 2-player game to work over the last 10 tries or so, and always got stuck at the "connecting" message. @Goblins: Is there a way to run Spellcraft on a Windows machine, e.g. via Testflight? I could do a Wireshark trace of the network traffic there, maybe that gives some insight into what is going on here. Alternatively, does anyone know an app similar to Wireshark for iOS? Then I could do the trace directly from my iPad. Should be free, ideally. I saw some professional ones on the Appstore, but don't want to shell out big bucks for something I most likely will only use once or twice.
The next update, due early next week if all is well, will bring a few more new cards. They've been mentioned before, but the exact details are below. Steve@ThreeGoblins Implode (spell) Cost 5 Highest strength minion or barrier in play is destroyed Cinderlings (minion) Cost 3 2/1 When destroyed their strength is distributed randomly amongst your other minions/barriers Festerplague (spell) Cost 5 Adds a 12 timer to all minions, barriers and items in play without timers Doomsong (aura) Cost 1 While in play neither player can gain life Tree of Life (barrier) Cost 3 0/5 Transfers one of its own health to you each turn Fey Spirit (minion) Cost 1 1/1 with Spell Immune. When destroyed you gain 1 life Shadow Dragon (minion) Cost 5 3/3 with Elusive. As played gains special ability of opposing minion/barrier (the text ability) Kobo Summoner (minion) Cost 2 2/1 Each turn puts a Kobo into play from your deck Ancient Turtle (minion) Cost 5 2/9 When played puts a random Forest/Ocean aura from your deck into play, in the slot behind itself Sink (spell) Cost 1 Chosen enemy minion with 3 or more strength loses 1 strength
If anyone has time for a match today, let me know. I want to test if the update solved my GC connection problems.
I've just noticed a change to the lost card, other than the cost change. It now sends a RANDOM opposing minion back home. Brings the value of these cards WAY down as I was trying to lose one creature but it was sending others away and exposing me in other areas. Tbh the Lost card was too overpowered so I think it's a good change. Thanks for the game Sheinfell, looks like you are connecting fine. You caught me with the worst hand ever first time, I drew 4 catapults and a Strength....rubbish!
Yes, that was a nasty surprise: WTF... why is the Underdark Worm still there? I disagree with Cat's "Lost was overpowered" statement. I think cost 3 for the old Lost (return target minion) and 4 for Taken Under was really well balanced; while the original 2/3 costs were too low. The way Lost is now, 2 cost seems more appropriate.
The lost card only just changed to 3....didn't it? I agree now its random 2 would be more appropriate. I think burrowing under should be a 3 also, it's too easy to use two of them in one turn to do 8/9 points damage, they are just the same as the original Lost. Can you put a picture in your game centre please, I'm bored of looking at the white face!
Off topic? I don't care. I was elsewhere all weekend, played the Walking Dead on iPad. £15 but kept me hooked ALL weekend! I can't wait for a zombie apocalypse, I'm. Going to be SO bad ass
Get a hold of an old playstation1 and play one of the first two (or three?) Resident Evils. Mini-apocalypse only, but back then it was seriously creepy, something those newfangled "kill zombies by the hundreds" shooters can't manage EDIT: Okay, so "Walking Dead: The Game" at least advertises as being more than a stupid shooter. Is that the one you played? If yes, is it really as good an adventure as it promises?
