Very nice to read all your thoughts and contributions, really gives us encouragement.

Multiple Accursed cards: minimum hand size is 1, I believe.

Goblin cards : I love this idea, but I can see angry mobs saying "You only won that game because you played your Gold-plated Goblin Wotsit Wrangler!!"

We do have ancient horror decks in The Goblin Vaults that date from the pre-electronic Spellcraft era, but they will remain there, for now.....

Oh yes, once we get this mini-update out the way , we plan yet another one early in 2013.

This will give 2 more cards for each faction, just to keep things fresh, since the next faction , Air, will be a fair wait.
This will include the last dragon (Underworld) Shadow Dragon, magical stones that summon fairies, a grim aura that stops anyone gaining life, a mad swirling fire beast and other delights.

Steve @ 3G, trying to remember the password for The Goblin Vaults.

Oh sorry I meant Mark Goblin not Mike...I keep doing that! Mark Turner in GC.

I think you just made someone's day describing them as the superior thinker lol.

I've got Greymane as a friend but I've never had an invite from him....tell him to invite me please! Actually, when do you find is a good time to find people online? I've got a deck at the moment that looks quite weak, but I think it could work....invite me.

PIB was a great character wasn't he lol...here's some quotes...

    Jack: I hate cats!
Puss in Boots: That's not what your mama said!

[Puss in Boots removes his hat, cloak and sword]
Puss in Boots: All that I need, are the boots!

Puss in Boots: Kitty? You are not as good as they say. You are better!

Murlis Boozer: Say, I didn't know cats could sing.
Puss: Betcha never asked 'em. Ain't ya got no curiosity?
Murlis Boozer: Yeah, I heard that killed a relative of yours!
Puss: Lies and slander! Lies and slander!

Most happy to contribute :) and good to hear it keeps you guys happy and motivated.

Bah, some folks will always complain. And if they complain too much, you can always put an "angry mob with pitchforks and torches" card into the game, and tell them "So, there!" :p

    You mean those Wotsits?
"Dr. Phillington, during our ethnological studies of the Goldplated Goodpants Goblin Tribe they invited us to one of their tribal rituals. It turned out their national sport is...Wotsit Wrangling!" - "Ah, a most amazing discovery, Dr. Dunglebarb, indeed. This sure deserves a prominent place in your next monography." Got a big grin on my face, not at all caused by the image of wotsit-wrangling goblins... and the - of course VERY British - ethnologists visiting them to witness their rituals.

If you ever make a Goblin faction, I want to see a "Dr.Phillington & Dr.Dunglebarb, expeditioning ethnologists" card in there ;)

Ancient horrors? Like the "Forgotten Cheese from Before Time, Old and Stinking" ? Bring 'em on!
Jokes aside, as a huge Lovecraft fan, I would love to see those.

And the outline for the next update sounds very interesting, looking forward to that.

Cute kitty eating his wotsits. My cat likes those too. Cats are also fascinated by Pickled onion Monster munch and peas. Any cat owners notice that?

Oh wait....I forgot I'm on the goblin forum and not the Mad cat lady forum.

Ok, I want to discuss two player games. I've played a LOT lately and it's great to see new players in the lobby and get more action. But has anyone else noticed the two player is getting a little heavy handed?

My decks against the AI have a variety of cards, spells, 2&3 cost minions, a few big guns peppered with tricky tactical cards.

Then I'll get a 2 player game and have no choice but to quickly change to my Big Guns deck after getting beaten 20-0. The Big Gun deck is pretty much full of 5 cost cards, and I'm finding that generally whoever goes first will get the edge and 5 cost is opposed with a 5 cost.

In the 2 player there is absolutely no use for any of my 2 or 3 cards, they are too weak which is a shame as I like a lot of the skills they have and like using tactics to apply their skills to my advantage.

Is anyone else finding this? It's still fun but there's much less thinking involved, for me personally at least.

Anyway, I've got my big guns deck ready if anyone wants to play this weekend. Or maybe, we can try something different, like a match where we ban all 4/5 cost cards.

Sheinfell, your English is better than mine. And I'm English. How does that work!?

Brute force vs skill & subtlety ? Ah yes,the famous gaming dilemma.

Well, I think the first approach seems more immediately attractive for newer players, as they've likely has success with it at lower levels vs AI.

But it's reasonably easy to deal with, lock down and strangle. The tools are there at least.

I tend to go for a balanced approached, throwing in a few biggies just for the shock value, but so many times they are Lost, Rooted, mangled, stolen, roasted or liquidised.

I remember a recent game vs a certain Cat where I stubbornly wasted 3-4 turns trying to lay down one dragon.
In the end it decided to take early retirement and spent its remaining years in a rocking chair telling stories to the hatchlings about how things used to be so much simpler back in the day.....

Lol funny. I'm definitely finding recently that having entirely heavy forces is the only way to deal with the two player.

Yes I'm sure if it were an AI you could then go away and find the cards needed to combat them, but once you are I. Game you are stuck so you have no choice but to turn up mob handed.

    This game centre lobby gets on my tits. Is there a method to the;

    1. Approximate auto match time over 2 minutes
    2. " " " 1 minute
    3. " " " 30 seconds

Is it 2 minutes when no one is there, 1 minute when someone else is lurking, 30 seconds when you are about to connect? Or is the 1/2 minute thing random. I've been trying all day, had a small problem yesterday and I need a 2 player match so I can get Mike Goblin a console log. If anyone is about, send me an invite please x

Pile of goblin $hite is what it is.

Okay, we'll someone explain the leader board then, if you click on high scores, we have a yellow number of points under our names. How do you get those points? What have they got to do with the rank increase or decrease you get at the end of the two player games. I DON'T GET IT!

[BUGREPORT] - gamecrash in 2 player

@Steve: good game, despite the crash on round two. Happy that I could finally play with you.

    Here is what happened:
I have effects turned off for the first time ever during this match.
I doubletapped the "shimmering pearl" .
Instead of using it and getting the +1 mana, the card detail view opened, with the frame that normally shows the card all black. The vellum border around the card was still displayed normally. It went quite fast, but I think the card details in the small extra window at the bottom were not displayed either, but I don't think they were blacked out; the vellum rectangle was blank, as far as I can say.

When I single-tapped the frame (inside the black) , the game crashed completely.

Unfortunately I did not check if Spellcraft was still running in the taskbar, before I restarted it.
When restarting, it came up again from the beginning.
I checked my crashlogs, but there is no entry for it.

As this never happened before when I played with effects on, my first thought is to check if something in the "effects off" routine might have caused this.

Hmm ..will pass on this to Mike. Curious.

Yes, was a shame we couldn't continue.

Your invite ambushed me on the first game - that was my "Can anyone seriously compete using only 5-costing minions" deck - the answer, as you saw is "don't be silly"

I am just putting the finishing touches on a few cards in much later factions.

I am 100% confident the game will pleasantly alter with each Faction, not only in mechanics but in atmosphere and mood too. Different card types will also start to feature more - Items, especially, will come into their own next year.

    Sheinfell,

The iPad crash reports are no good to them as they are "not in a format they can use". If you want to help, there's a free app called System Console.

If you ever have a crash or strange happenings, you just open the console, then 'email log' to the goblins with any other details about what was happening at the time.

It's a tiny little free app, but they always seem pleased when you send them a console log and it seems to help them hit the nail directly on the head.

Anyone else getting stuck on this today at startup? Only on iPhone, iPad is fine. Have tried restarting phone, hard closing app and logging in and out of game centre.

I was able to run the game in my iPad after starting GameCenter. But in my iPhone the game does not start no matter what I do. I tried to logout/login GC but it didn't work.

    Happy New Year to everybody!

Did not get stuck so far on the "syncing" thing, but I would still like to know what it actually does. Goblins? Mind enlightening me here?

@Cat: Serious, you think my English is better than yours? Might be because I read English books and watch movies in English originals since I am like 10 years old; that gave me a lot of vocabulary to draw from.
And I use English as working language for several years now, and as everyday language for another 2 or so. I am not fluent in Dutch yet, so I have to fall back to English quite often. And I speak mainly English with my Dutch girlfriend.

To the best of my knowledge it's checking your card collection, scores & decks.
For example you might've got some new cards on your iPhone. They are copied onto iCloud for safety.
Now, let's say you log in on your iPad - it needs to know about those new cards. So it does a "sync" where basically it just reads the data from iCloud.
Another example I where you do a game update or even accidentally delete it. The sync restores your cards, decks, etc.

As to why some here are getting issues sometimes, all I can inadequately offer is to suggest logging off Game Center on all devices. Then log on again.

We just can't reproduce it our end and it seems to only affect a few people which makes it tricky.
There is a small update imminent, which *might* help this issue. I really hope so as it frustrating for you and frustrating for us to read that even 1 person can't play.

    In resume:

Installed the game in 3 devices (all iOS 6, 2 iPads 1 iPhone)
The game was installed for the first time
All 3 devices were stuck in the Syncing message with a zero below
After starting GC both iPads eventually worked
The iPhone refuses to work (same iCloud account of one of the iPads)

By the way, is there any chance to add a turn based multiplayer option? That would be great.

    Very nice game!

Thanks, that's just the kind of detail that's very helpful for us.

Turn-based: It's been mentioned before. Apparently it's not as impossible as I thought, but it's nothing we are planning any time soon. But if the game takes off, then it's certainly possible. It's very early days!

All great news. There is no rush. Since the game is free, maybe an IAP to unlock it?

I'll buy more cards later today.

    Minor suggestions:

    - a better graphic and sound feedback when the End Turn button is tapped
    - an option to end turn as soon as the Attack button is tapped; I usually attack at the end of my turn anyway; am I missing something?
    - when a game ends sometimes I wish to see how the board is; maybe a smaller end game screen?
    - it would be cool if I could exchange cards with my son and not only sell them (it may be too complicated I know)

One more observation about the stuck Syncing screen: the message is always shown before the GC pop up at top.

Yes, you might be missing some tricks.

In the beginning I also considered:

Pressing Attack= 'Do the Attack then End turn automatically'

A least 2 other games I know of use that.

But doing that would've missed some very cunning tactical options.....

    Example 1
You Attack and your minion kills itself as it runs into a huge enemy beast.
You now have a big gap in your ranks. Well, problem over, as now you have a chance to play a new blocker before your turn ends.

    Example 2
You have only a minion with Quick in your hand, but playing it is suicidal as the enemy forces are bigger. So you could End and leave a hole in your ranks, or you could Attack, then play the Quick minion after, filling the gap for at least a while.

    Example 3
My forces attack and almost finish off several defenders. I have a chance now to use a Spell or ability to finish a weak one.

    Example 4
It's a very close game, both on low life, and I launch my final attack. Sadly, it didn't go as I planned, as all manner of effects were triggered and my opponent lived. This is bad as the attack cost me most of my forces. Never mind, I will just casually launch a damage Spell to end the game after all.

    Example 5
There may be future cards that will reset the Attack button, giving you extra attacks. (Actually, that is not a 'may' , there is, but not for a very long time, in the Jungle faction)

These are subtle points but I've already seen them well-used by experienced players.

So as you can see, sometimes there was a lot of thought behind these apparently simple decisions. But goal was always clear - make it as tactical as we could.
