    Yeah, it was free for about 1/2 of last year, then they bumped it back to $0.99 at the end of Jan... increased to $2.99 at the end of Feb, dropped it to $0.99 less than 2 weeks into Mar... and now it's free again.

    I guess they were trying to get it back into the charts. Oh well. I hadn't paid it much attention since last year before they changed the name from Spellsword to Spell Sword.

    It is kind of strange. I too thought this had gone completely freemium.

    Yeah the sword is your weapon, but the different cards (of which you unlock the various types as you play) that you collect during gameplay temporarily augment your sword with unique abilities.. You can level up each card to increase duration and effect.. It's really fun if you are into arena brawler type games, updates have made it better over its lifetime, and last I played all IAP was completely optional. Recommended.

    To celebrate the release of Leaping Legend, Spell Sword is now free and updated with iPhone 5 resolutions. It's been a long time coming and thank you for your patience.
