There are six ROM files included with Spectaculator, 48krom.bin (16K size) 128krom.bin (32K) pentagonrom.bin (32K) plus2rom.bin (32K) plus3rom.bin (64K) scorpionrom.bin (64K) I've had a play around with the different <key>model</key> numbers and as far as I can tell, they are: 1: 48K 2: 128K 3: +2 4: +3 (displays as +2A as it does not find an A: floppy drive) 5: Scorpion Russian model (also based on +3 / +2A) 6: Pentagon Russian model I'm not absolutely certain about the order of 4 and 5, but I assume the author would put the "normal" +3 before the Scorpion version. I don't know how to tell the two apart. As for no. 6, it has TR-DOS in the start menu and a 1986 copyright which tends to suggest the Pentagon version, but again I cannot be certain.
Do not update to Spectaculator version 2.0 There is no working hack to get games on to version 2.0 of speculator so until someone finds a good hack, please back up your IPA and dont update!
Personally, I'm currently having good fortune with 2.0. Playing Cyclone as we speak. Absolutely agree with backing up but I've posted some info about 4 or 5 posts ago. If anyone else has any details they can share, please post here. FuZion.
??? Working fine here, lots of games installed, with lots of modified icons (a bit of a pain I admit, I hope the author doesn't decide to have another artwork change like that in the next version) so that they look nice in the list. v2.0 is a good improvement and I'm very happy with it.
Just out of curiositiness, and certainly not to do anything copyright infringing, is there any reason why I cannot mention a Spectaculator games config files-pack here, which includes all the odds and ends but for copyright reasons does not include any of the actual game files (you can get those yourself from WoS or wherever). It seems a shame that I (and no doubt others) are knocking up their own Spectaculator config files for various games but they are not being shared.
I've posted a list of the games I've worked on so far, but the ONLY reason I've not uploaded the actual config files yet is simply the length of them. I've seen stacks of threads on forums with reams of text & it just gets too hard to fine the info you need. I've said I'll post the config files if someone asks. May be that there's games I play that no one is interested in (Knowing my taste ) FuZion.
I wouldn't post the config files or anything else in a post here as copying them isn't really a good way to go about it. Besides, you can't consider a game complete with just the config.plist. For me it must also have an Artwork.png (up to 180x180) and Icon.png (90x138) if at all available, Instructions.html (as much of the original instructions as can be obtained), and Addendum.html (anything specific to the Spectaculator mappings used). As such I was thinking more like uploading an archive with all the game configs and associated files (but not the ROMs) somewhere and providing a link here for them to be downloaded. Some of the following are games Spectaculator ships with, but my complete current list of games (all of which include all of the above files, except the odd one where the instructions are unavailable) is: Android One (Vortex) Ant Attack (Quicksilva) Antics (Bug-Byte) Arnhem (CCS) Battle Ships (Encore) Batty (Hit-Pak) Beyond the Ice Palace (Elite) Bonkers (Procom) Bowling Solitaire (myself- to be posted to WoS shortly) Bugaboo the Flea (Quicksilva) Buggy Boy (Elite) Chequered Flag (Sinclair Research) Chuckie Egg (A'n'F) Codename MAT (Micromega) Deep Strike (Durell) DL CricketCalc (myself- to be posted to WoS shortly) Doomdark's Revenge (Beyond) Dynamite Dan (Mirrorsoft) Evening Star (Hewson) Fairlight (The Edge) Fairlight II (The Edge) Flight Simulation (Sinclair Research) Frank Bruno's Boxing (Elite) Grand National (Elite) Handicap Golf (CRL) Harrier Attack! (Durell) Highway Encounter (Vortex) Hobbit (Melbourne House) Jetpac (Ultimate) Kokotoni Wilf (Elite) Lords of Midnight (Beyond) Lords of Time (Level 9) Manic Miner (Bug-Byte) On the Run (Design Design) Quazatron (Hewson) Ranarama (Hewson) Roller Coaster (Elite) Royal Scot (Dee-Kay Systems) RTC Kings Cross (Dee-Kay Systems) Runestone (Firebird) Saboteur II (Durell) Saboteur! (Durell) Sherlock (Melbourne House) Sorcerer Lord (PSS) Sorderon's Shadow (Beyond) Starstrike, 3D (Realtime) Stonkers (Imagine) T.L.L. (Vortex) Tau Ceti (CRL) Tir Na Nog (Gargoyle) Trans-Pennine Express (Dee-Kay Systems) Turbo Esprit (Durell) The list is growing steadily, there's quite a few Elite titles on there as without anything better to do, I looked at the other emulator and the games for it and did a few of those. It's a case of what to add next? So many games, which to do next
Hi everyone i'm new here and have been enjoying using Spectaculator for some time now to get my speccy fix on my ipad. I was just wondering, has anyone figured out which part of the config file needs to be edited to point the 'Tipshop' section to the correct game link at the World of Spectrum? At a hunch, i'm guessing it might be the number in the line that reads - <key>infoseekId</key> <integer>14943< If i change the number the Tipshop link is changed to another game. Any ideas as to how to match the correct number to the correct game? Kind regards StiGGy
A-ha, just figured it out. If you go to the World of Spectrum website via PC, select the correct game and hover the mouse cursor over the tipshop link, the InfoseekID is displayed. Enter this number in the Config file for your game and the Tipshop will link to the correct game. StiGGy
Finally put 2.0 on, had to reload my games, but they work. Funny thing was that the "Now Playing" returned me to my non-existant(!) Atic Atac game I was playing before the update.
Haha, mine done that too with Dizzy. I think the emulator snapshots its current state somewhere (Almost in the same fashion as the save games were) so even if the file is no longer there, the snapshot puts it back into the emulator. FuZion.
Just a quick heads-up guys. Dingos been released as an stand alone app on the app store (free). It uses the Spectaculator format and can be added to the main emulator. See here for more details http://tardis.dk/wordpress/?p=788
Dingo ZX Spectrum here is the direct link if anybody wants it:http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/dingo-zx-spectrum/id479853836?mt=8
This, however, only applies to the very first (1.0) version released mor ethan two years ago. Subsequent versions were all protected. I've played a bit with these protected versions (both the delivered and the IAP games) today but in vain - haven't managed to hack them.
... ignore the prev. post. I've just managed to hack games (so far, t64 files "only") in it (v 2.0). So far, all custom t64 files I've tested work. Great news!
Yeah, works great... I've been playing with (the hacked) Uridium using my iCP That is, the emulator is indeed still hackable.
... so are d64 files, not only t64's. An example: Orig: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13100693/html/112011OperaMini-Recording/IMG_0042.PNG
