The X-37 is roughly one-fourth the size of the space shuttle and though it will return to Earth, it is not completely reusable, like the shuttle is. All the elements of the shuttle are recovered and reused. The X-37 will take off from Cape Canaveral in Florida atop an expendable Atlas V rocket. The date for the X-37 to make its automated landing at Vandenberg Air Force Base on the California coast was not announced. It can stay on orbit for three-quarters of a year.
This is an awesome contest! This ship first appeared in the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation's first season way back in 1988. Aptly named, it does indeed conjure up images of some sinister bird-of-prey about ready to snatch up some poor, helpless creature.
look http://www.tuvie.com/wp-content/uploads/second-solar-spaceship1.jpg this was made 3 years ago it worked amazing
Okay, I've caught up with today's entries - everyone up to and including paul1998 should have a code in a PM. 13 codes left!
Space Ship: Swinetrek From The Muppet Show's "Pigs in Space" segment. The most awesome ship ever created! Yeah, Baby! You don't want to see this ship coming your way as you span the universe. Uh, uh...no sirree, man. Fear will definitely ensue.
The Tempest Conceptual ship Speed: 1 lightyear /hour Origins: Unknown Technology: Alien The Tempest was a scouting vessel believed to have crashed on Earth over 4 million years ago; large remains have been discovered over the past 5 months amidst the wake and destruction we are seeing today. The remains discovered in Haiti, Iceland, India and Thailand have led experts to develop a conceptualized sketch of what they believe the space craft once looked like. Top researchers at NASA are now looking into the raw materials required to re-develop such a craft once again.
I have one more i'd like to share - please don't count this as an entry (since it's only one per user) but I loved its shape, so here it is! The Vessel High-speed transport Speed: 3 lightyears /hour Origins: Unknown Technology: Neofibrine The Vessel, originally thought to have transported Adam and Eve to the Garden of Eden, is considered to be the birthplace of the human genome. A group of archaeologists discovered a set of blueprints and master plans for constructing this Vessel not long ago, after which Apple took the initiative to construct it from ground-up. Will Steve Jobs and his team provide the answers we have so long been seeking?
I love this competition idea! I second all the submissions already I would LOVE a promo code if there are still any available
You've got to make a submission yourself to qualify for a code! I'm sure you can think of a sweet spaceship to show us Codes dispatched up to diego45 - 10 left!
battle cruiser Here is the Terran battlecruiser from Starcraft II. It has a large main gun in the front designed for delivering a devastating blast. It's called the Yamato gun, homage to the anime spaceship. I was lucky enough to get into the SCII beta so if anyone else is in, send me a PM so we can play! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Ishumara Space Ship from the game Dead Space: "The USG Ishimura was first of the massive planet cracker ships, and was named after astrophysicist Hideki Ishimura (inventor of the ShockPoint Drive, a form of FTL travel). Built in 2352, 62 years before the beginning of the Dead Space narrative, the Ishimura has had a long and storied career under the ownership of the Concordance Extraction Corporation. The Ishimura was the first vessel of her size to utilize the shockpoint drive for large-scale, commercial, and deep space expeditions. Its total crew complement is well over a thousand, consisting of miners, scientists, engineers, security personnel, medical staff, flight crew, and officers. It is not known how the children of the crew factor into this number. "
No more entries? Promohunters, you surprise me! There's still room for eight more winners. And so this post isn't a total waste I will present the real life Space Invader: http://www.space-invaders.com. A French street artist invades cities with little mosaics of the oh so familiar game characters, like so: There are a couple hanging out near one of my old flats - they always cheered me up
Seriously... No one's posted the Flying Winnebago from Spaceballs? I'm disappointed in you all. Best spaceship of all time.
Whoa, a six month old thread revived - I almost missed it, especially with all the Sentinel 3 excitement And yes, the compo technically isn't closed, so Riskke wins one of the last six codes! Five to go!
