Frankly, I hope that they make a bundle on this game and move on to a new one. Sure, it would be fun to add content, but what makes Space Miner special is how well it works as an integrated whole. Deathmatch, team deathmatch, etc would make this just another space combat game; I would rather they directed their resources towards creating a brand new gaming experience. By the way, I tend to read the word "potential" as meaning "it's not quite there yet." On that front, I disagree strongly. This game doesn't have potential; it's potential fulfilled.
The reviews have pretty much sold me...and I have 5.04 on my iTunes card! I'll buy it in the morning, since I can't afford to stay up all night playing it tonight.
Should i get this (space miner) or Edge by Mobigame? I have $6.50 left and i want to get one of them, but only one.
Unless you prefer puzzle games over everything else, get Space Miner. Edge is a very good puzzle game, without a doubt. But Space Miner is a complete gaming experience -- one of the few in the App Store.
Is Space Miner worth getting if I've already got Meteor Blitz? They look quite similar except SM has a story mode and collection items. I don't want to use bucks for something similar to what i already have.
It plays nothing like Meteor Blitz. The only similarity is the top down view on the space sequences, and the fact that you're dealing with asteroids. MB is pure arcade fun. Space Miner is a much deeper game.
Ok, i'm sold, probably will get it in the next week. Dad gets angry if i buy too much stuff in a short period of time (ie 1 game a week, and depends how expensive)
I finally got some time to spend with this game, and have to agree, the praise is well deserved. Particularly impressed with the attention to detail. Every little tweak to your ship set-up is immediately apparent in gameplay. Slightly off topic, it occurred to me that part of the reason this game is getting so much praise is because of something we aren't used to on the app store: a complete, polished gaming experience. I hope in time games like this will become more the norm rather than exception.
I believe this is the next Spider. Although Sword & Poker is right there in 2nd place. At least for this year. I'm not interested in GTA (but I understand its appeal)
I literally could not put down the game, just wanted to mine one more asteroid field. One of the best games in the app store in my opinion! Well done, devs!
this is my next purchase, but i need to know whether it uses some form of accelerometer controls and whether it has callibration options. Reason is my ipod touch tilt meter is off center by a few degrees and i wouldnt want to regret it later
My review for the German AppStore: Wow - ohne zu übertreiben - dieses Spiel ist dermaßen aufpoliert - mit unzähligen Details, toller Music, geniales Soundeffekten und immensem Inhalt, Space Miner sollte jeder auf seinem iPod / iPhone haben! An diesem Spiel gibt es wirklich nix zu meckern. Dieses Spiel ist ein RPG-Space-Shooter-Asteroid-Mix und kann sich ohne Probleme mit den guten Games der PSP messen. Allerdings sind PSP-Spiele 5-6 mal so teuer. Space Miner ist extra für die iDevices entwickelt worden, man merkt die ganze Liebe und das Herzblut, welches die Designer in das Spiel haben einfließen lassen. Für nur knapp 4€ gibt es massenweise Spielspaß, dieses Spiel lässt mich sogar GTA für einige Zeit weglegen. Space Miner kann sich mit den ganz Großen ohne Probleme messen. Dickes Lob an die Designer! So true! Swords & Poker is unique and I really love it! There have been masterminds designing this gem... a poker rpg puzzler. But I also think that Space Miner will be the next spider, and not only. I think it will beat Spider. Spacer Miner is already one of the hottest candidates for the title: game of the year. Space Miner is just like - a sexy woman. (Or for the ladies: man) You can't lose sight of her.
