wow! the new render looks amazing, even on a youtube video, can't imagine on the real device, nice work!
I have a question about scanner upgrades. What, exactly, do they do? I'm level 6 and I haven't noticed any benefit of scanner upgrades at all, so I just don't do them anymore. Also, that single line of black pixels running through the scanner HUD from time to time is extremely irritating (but I bet other people don't even notice it).
Scanner upgrades increase range, so you can see more of the level. It is particularly useful when you are looking for things (like tourists, or alien tech you may miss otherwise.) The black line is used to show you where the middle of the sector is horizontally and vertically for orienting yourself. That way you know when you've looped around and can get a rough idea about where things are located using them as reference.
I suspected that was the issue as I wrote my post, but wanted to understand if there was some other underlying issue. That's a bit of a bummer. You'd have thought that Apple would have considered that issue during the initial iPad development. I'm guessing they were aware, but put that very low on the priority list...something for iPad v2, right? In any case, I'm a hopeless early adopter, so I'm not canceling my pre-order just yet! Thanks again for the detailed reply. I'll keep playing Space Miner on my 3GS! --DotComCTO
Damn, I read the first post and it looked like fun but then when I checked out the App Store I noticed it was $4.99. The title of the thread needs to be updated.
I've been playing this game for 3 hours (I literally started 3 hours ago ) - I am already License Level 5. - I have only died 2 times - I've discovered 41 sectors, And I have completed 10 out of the 23 missions. This is probably the most fun I have ever had with an iPhone Game. I Recommend it above any other game in the appstore. This is down right amazing.
I know this sounds a bit greedy since it has had specials in the past upon launch (which I missed since I didn't have an iPod back then) but is there any chance you guys (the developers, not random forum ppl) could do another pricedrop to celebrate the HD update when it comes out? Pretty please?
I second that THE price is realy worth THE game!! With THE update coming THE game is even more worth so also THE new graphs look great there really make a difference! Well done
Picked it up for full price after trying the demo and the game is tons of fun. Now on the top of my list for favorite app store games. This is well worth the asking price.
I'd rather get an iPad on special, too. My wallet and awesome sales rarely cross paths, however. $5 is pocket change. A couple of cheap coffees. A value meal. Lady Gaga's dignity. Surely an awesome game beats that.
Well I don't drink coffee & I only have value meals about once every couple of months It may seem like pocket change but I've already spent $150 on apps in the past 2 weeks! Thats pocket change + wallet!
I just put away a little each month from my paycheck and already have enough for the 32GB 3G however I think I'll just get the 16GB 3G. Why? Because most of my ebooks are in TXT or PDF, my magazines are in PDF, and GoodReader for iPad has built-in WebDAV support. So I just download straight from my Macbook Pro at home over the net to the device itself from anywhere. Same thing for videos....using Air Video I no longer have to convert and sync, I just live convert and stream directly to the device itself. Audio I stream as well. So since i no longer have to drag around music/podcasts, video, or ebooks on the device itself, I don't need all that storage and will get the 16GB 3G model. Now, back to the best iDevice game EVAR! Space Miner! For the love of GOD, please make it universal for the iPad after the graphics update coming soon.
Idk, I have 16GB device, and at first it seemed like more than enough, but now I wish I had gone with the 32GB.
