Venan - Does the game support the Plus+ isave feature? if I delete the app once I complete the game, will all my stats be saved? If I re-install will the savegame be restored? thanks for making such a compelling game - I played 2 hours too much during work today!! very addictive!
@scarypharaoh Not currently, as our save game data was too large to utilize that feature. @mariano774 Hoping to get it into Apple this Friday, so probably middle to end of next week.
Would LOVE an Ipad version. I played the original (at $4.99) and finished it. And all the while remember thinking I wanted it on Ipad. (this was before ipad came out). Bigger screen size would show the effects so well.
Just to clarify, will we still get the extra goodies besides the shading in the "HD update", if we have older devices?
I'd like to see a universal version of the game. I'm a big fan of this game and would love to play it on the iPad with clean graphics rather than pixel doubling mode. Thanks! --DotComCTO
I guess next week is a busy week for me with a few apps that is was looking for like warpgate and pocket legends coming out for the iphone. But still looking the most for is the update of this game
Ooh, next week! Really looking forward to this -- the 3rd gen graphical enhancements will be very cool, but the new content will be even better. I finished the game already and have been itching for an excuse to play it again.
I don't get this. I've heard this earlier and even quoted 3 people for knocking the lite version some. Thats your (imo) and I respect that for whatever it doesn't accomplish in the full. But I found the lite to have the missions, upgrade features and storyline, etc all in the lite that a few are saying it doesn't measure up to the full. Obviously being a lite it won't have the entire content but gets the idea across. And I believe the lite feels like the beginning to the full and holds a bit of content from what I've played (even got my 2# license) and wondering if we're all playing the same lite version/game. I never heard anyone really explain why the lite doesn't compliment the full.
Venan, I love your game and I would even gladly buy the full game again just to have an ipad version. It may not be a lot of work to adapt your game to the iPad. Please try changing your HD version to a universal binary and see how well it works The hardware scales pretty well to the larger screensize. I would love to just see the existing game scaled up to render on the larger screen.
I don't get it either, at first glance when I was playing the Lite version for about 5min I thought it'd be a simple shooter flying around asteroids killing bad guys but its deeper than that. It wasn't until my 2nd attempt at the Lite that I really started getting into it and wanting more I'm hoping that a 3G with 2G specs will still benefit with the HD release but it probably won't. Babo Crash is supposedly HD now but it doesn't mention it on my iPod Touch
1.2 Graphics Preview! Hey guys, We put together a quick video showing some of the rendering differences coming up in 1.2. Unfortunately this will only appear on the 3GS and 3rd gen iPod touch (not the 8GB which isn't really 3rd gen). It's kind of hard to see some of the effects after Youtube compression, but the lighting and normal maps add a lot of texture to the asteroids. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Looks very, very nice! So - what's the deal with the iPad? You wrote on Twitter, "iPad... why, WHY!!! Trying out 3GS shader stuff on here is PAINFULLY SLOW. The graphics on this device are way underpowered." Is the iPad graphically underpowered? I thought the graphics engine on the iPad was the same as the 3GS. I've pre-ordered the 3G+wifi version of the iPad, so I'm waiting to get mine; however, you've got me worried now. --DotComCTO
I suspect it has to do with the fact that the iPad has more than 4x the resolution, thus requires more muscle to push the same number of polygons on the iPad.
Underpowered may not be the best term, perhaps not as powered as I'd like it to be... It uses the same hardware as the 3GS as far as I can tell, and we were expecting something with some more horsepower. The iPad has 5x the number of pixels to fill as the 3GS, but it is only clocked maybe 1.5x as fast. As a result, when you turn on anything with shaders... the results aren't pretty. We could do a version that runs with 2nd gen graphics pretty easily, but that is not something which would make me happy. We'll probably spend some time trying to get under the hood more and see what kind of performance we can squeeze out of it, but let's just say I'm glad we didn't try to push out an iPad Space Miner without testing it on hardware first. As for games in general, very, very few games seem to use these features, so I don't think you'll be any worse for having an iPad now. It's a neat device.
