    @Raven: I'm sure he's directed at me.

@Guibs: Of course OF has those fancy extra features and all but you honestly feel 'penalized' at not having it?! You asked for my choice 'as a gamer', so I tell you that as a 'gamer' and not 'bragger' I care more about the game itself. Social network is an extra perk that's all. In fact both OF and Plus+ have lots rooms for improvements. I think my post makes enough sense. Just that you don't like it.

am i the only one who doesn't give a flying rip about what "social network" a dev uses? plus+, OF, whatever. i'm not buying a game for the social network, i'm buying a game for the game. achievements are a cute gimmick, but it wouldn't bother me one bit if they never existed (in any game). my "social network" is actually *talking* to my friends and vocally asking "hey, what games are you playing?" you know, human interaction. you kids may want to give it a shot.

But what I meant by that is, even if those extra features are in, they don't effect your enjoyement of the game since you have the choice to not use them while those who likes those features could enjoy them. Understand what I mean. Having those extra features would not impact in any way your current experience of the game while it would add to others who care about those extra features.

Not wanting extra features because you don't need them while having them and not using them would have zero impact on your enjoyement of the game is just weird and a bit selfish...

It does affect a little actually, Plus+ suits the 'clean' feel of the game.

Very well said. I couldn't have put it any better. I too get really fed-up with pointless and tedious discussions about social networks and achievements in games. These things are the absolute lowest priority for me when choosing which games to play. In fact, I tend to steer clear of games where the social network element is too intrusive.

Normally I am a fan of Open Feint - most of my Games have that (and I don't know Crystal yet) - because I like to keep in touch with my gamer buddies.

But Squeaker is absolutely right. Plus+ fits the game perfectly, there's no feature overload. It fits the games style.
I also buy games because of the games. Not because of the leaderboards.

Having only 1 achievment On the keaderboard is kind of a letdown. Kinda wish there were more, such as most amount of money earned, most amount of enemy/asteroid destroyed, etc.

I would've like to tell my friends on facebook about this game using some kind of in-build feature. I don't think it's unreasonable to want it. When you have friends all over, it's certainly easier to use facebook or twitter. It's not a must but it would be nice to have it, imho.

Quite frankly I don't know why some of you seem so irritated. If you don't care for it, it wouldn't hurt you either way. It doesn't exactly make you all that mature criticizing the discussion or suggestions to have it or not have it.

By the by, I don't care if I came across as mature or not. I say things how I see them :)

I don't care for social networks and achievements in games at all, but you're right, in most cases it's not a problem for me just to ignore them. However, with some games these elements are so prominent or so linked to the gameplay that it tarnishes my basic enjoyment of just playing the game. I play games for the pure satisfaction of solving puzzles, shooting aliens, driving cars, scoring goals or whatever else a game is about. I really don't give a crap what scores other people have got or how many trophies some random person the other side of the world may have collected.

Incidentally, if you want to tell your friends what games you're playing why don't you just ... I don't know ... tell them maybe? :)

What's wrong with telling them through facebook or twitter? Sure I can tell my friends at work what I'm playing face to face. But I have friends overseas, I have online friends that made through web and forum, I have ex-classmates and old school friends who are impossible to meet with regularly because they have family and work and all that. Is it practical to call everyone up to tell them what I'm playing. Or should I send them email to junk up their inbox? Why do you assume that people who use facebook are only teenage internet junkies who talk with friends they see in school everyday? Who's the one with the narrow mind here?

Personally I don't use the ladders (or rather have no use for them) because I'm not competitive.

And no, I wouldn't take away points from Space Miner just because it uses Plus+ instead of OF. I just would like to have a way to easily share with friends who connect with me online that's all. Just voicing a preference.:)

Nothing wrong with your preference at all Ravenblack. All I meant was if you want to tell your friends about the games you're playing why not post a tweet or a message on your Facebook wall - then job done :) I can't stand Facebook but I regularly tweet about games I've been enjoying.

It's just nice to do it right out of the game - score and an icon. :) On a side note, have to say, not all games that I've got with OF post well on FB. So, I do post it through blog postings too.

I think it cost money to purchase license from either OP or Plus+, so for them to replace Plus+ with OP would cost more money.

  17. I don't know about Plus+ but OpenFeint is free.

Does anyone have an alien tech guide? What is your favorite combination? I have all the tech from normal and hard, and I like to use 20% firing rate, nanobots, and extra damage for special weapons.

It depends on what kind of scenario you are trying to optimize yourself for but I know I can't do without the extra reactor power because I use up every ounce of power I can get :p

When u completed all awards and aquired all alien tech, the only thing left to do is to get highest end game score. Hardcore +
100% sector completion + all satellites discovery + 100% enemies killed + total money earned + all devs saved + etc. Out of all these, total money earned is the most important because everyone earns a random amount due to the alien tech. To hopefully achiev the highest amount u need to equip "+10% more chance to get ore from Asteroids" and "+10% chance to get mutiple ores from asteroids". That leaves u only 1 sloy for which ever alien tech u want to equip.
