I did not like those games either. I really tried to like meteor blitz because of the praise the game was getting but ultimately deleted it, and the same for isotope. I am also very fussy and usually do not like virtual pads. They were both quality games I am sure, just not my style. This one I really like though:)

I've never been into these tower defense type games but this one has amazing charm! Just look at all the glowing 5 star reviews on the appstore or check out the thread here. It's definitely a MUST BUY! :D

I'm having a major problem with this game...I can't get past the 1st bouy,
I keep hitting it with my ship and nothing happens, it seems like a bug. Furthermore, the game icon appears to be wrong, its showing up the same as heavy mach 2. Tried reinstalling + rebooting on a 3g. Anyone else have this problem?

You have to touch the buouy with your finger, not the ship. For future reference, if you encounter a problem with a game in the first level that nobody has mentioned in hundreds of posts, it's most likely not a bug.

The wrong icon issue is a system problem, not a game bug either.

Ditto. I didn't actually like _any_ implementation of virtual D-pads until the Space Miner. This game just has controls that work, finally.

Oh, and I also couldn't get anywhere with Isotope...

Lol, do you not read the on-screen instructions? I can imagine you sitting there continually ramming into the buoy , getting frustrated that it won't work :p

Got it Thursday night and just beat it a few moments ago. It is one of those games you look forward to continuing at various points throughout the day (I would limit myself to 30 minute sessions). I'm glad I'm done so I can work on other things now!

As a new player, I wish I knew about the Scar missions earlier. The last two scar missions were the last two missions I did before beating the game. So I ended up with the super weapons with only one mission to try them out on. :( Maybe the icon used on the overview map should make these missions stand out more, I thought they were part of the main storyline so I was saving them for the end.

Is there anything besides alien tech that makes the harder difficulty worth playing? I want access to new ships and weapons if I'm going to play it again.

Besides total 24 alien tech, u need to complete hard and hardcore mode to achieve the award. Also u get higher end game score if u play on harder difficulty.

  16. Game Impressions

    Okay.

This is one of the very, very few games where I have nearly drained the batteries for my iPhone. Both of them -- the phone's, and the JuicePack Air. Damn this is addictive -- and one of the most well-designed games on the App Store. Great graphics, great sound, intuitive and thoroughly enjoyable gameplay, lots of elements and variety to keep you going, side missions, tons of weaponry and tools, and a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

I'm a pretty picky and very jaded gamer, having been playing 'em since the halcyon days of Atari, so it takes a lot to impress me, and Space Miner impresses the hell out of me. Absolutely top 5 App Store material. Awesome job by Venan Entertainment. Why iLounge gave this a paltry B+ I'll never know, but I suspect it involved catastrophic head trauma.

    Just. freakin'. awesome.

lol, that's what I did for PvZ :p

  20. Glad I could help. :) There's a metric ton of substance to this game which I suppose is really what tops everything off. It isn't flash over substance, it's both, and in generous quantities. And for $2 -- this game is depressingly undervalued. I'd have shelled out a fiver or more easy.
