Down to $1.99 -- clearly trying to take advantage of the featured spot on iTunes.

That makes Space Miner the most insanely ridiculous value in the App Store.

At this price you'll be crazy not buying it.

    Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know we're running a sale on Space Miner as an experiment to try to get our rankings higher. Unfortunately the $4.99 price point, even while featured and all your outstanding reviews, isn't doing enough to get our rankings high enough on the App Store for the game to take off.

So we're going to try and jump start sales by discounting the game for a bit to $1.99. Since all of you purchased the game at full price, I thought it would be good to come on here and let you know. It's not something I like to do, but we all want the same thing - to have Space Miner succeed so we can make a sequel. And to do that, we need to get up in the rankings.

So for those of you on the fence - grab it while it's hot! It will only be for a limited time, so don't miss out.

Congrats on passing the sanity test ;)

Like is too mild a description, there are people out there (look a few posts above) who risked getting blind just to play this game :D

    Thanks for letting us know!
I'm guessing it has been selling quite well though? has it met your expectations yet?

Good luck and looking forward to playing! :)

Don't worry about us (who paid full price); we've more than gotten our money's worth (to wit: over eight hours on my first playthrough, and I still haven't finished). Do whatever you have to do to make Space Miner a success.

Shoot. Oh well, it was worth the 5 bucks. Sorry you guys are having to drop the price so much though. Best of luck, and I want a sequel! :D

No complaints here either! This game is an amazing value even at full price. I can't wait for your new project :)

Sweeeeet. I was waiting til my next paycheck before buying any more games, but there's no way I'm going to pass up the game that was at the top of my list at $1.99! I can't wait to finally try this!

The sale and new price point make sense right now. I would guess the sales have met or exceeded Venan's expectations but they now have an opportunity to build their brand and become more of a "household name" by price dropping to a very accessible price. They probably took a look at Plants vs Zombies and how well it's doing at 2.99 and thought maybe they can compete if they drop a dollar more. I bet this strategy pays off big time. I have no doubt we'll see a sequel now.

Got it of course. But it never ceases to amaze me that people who have a quality game and want to sell it at a higher price point don't have the Lite ready at launch. If the game takes off without a Lite - great, but if it doesn't then you have a Lite ready to go to convince the fence-sitters and don't have to discount so heavily. In my uneducated opinion, of course.

Damn it! Burned by a sale yet again. This mistake cost me $3. You'd think I would learn that any game that is more than $0.99 is going to go on sale at some point. Apparently I'm a slow learner. :(

at least that "extra" $3 went to an indie dev and not Target or Walmart or something... :)

This has nothing to do with the lack of the game "taking off" in game sales but merely the opportunity to take advantage of being featured and taking it to the next level in popularity.

I couldn't agree more with this sentiment. I would much rather spend an extra $3 to make sure that Space Miner is well supported with fixes and updates and to increase the likelihood of a sequel. I know lots of people who contribute on TA feel the same way. I wish other people did. We are incredibly lucky (some would say spoiled) to get as many great games as we do for 99 cents. It's a privilege, not an entitlement.

I bought Space Miner for the full $4.99 and it is well worth the money. It was an incredible value even at that price point. At $1.99, every single person who has money left in their Itunes account should download this game immediately.
