Well I've just almost completed my 5th play through 3 times now, I say almost because I beat the final boss, but it keeps crashing after you collect the developers but before I get the achievement for beating hardcORE. This also happened during my hard play through (3rd time through the game), I kept trying until it finally went through but I'm really not wanting to have to beat the final boss another 3 to 4 times until it works. I've tried skipping all the cut scenes, I've tried not skipping any, I've rebooted my touch, nothing seems to matter. Other then that this has been an awesome game.
Must... resist... buying... now... Planning on picking this up just before my holiday next week Don't want to buy it now because I just know I'll blow through the game before that then
Sorry if it's been mentioned before but who else denied helping Uncle Jeb over and over? What occurs is pure comedic gold.
I've never thought to reject a mission. Actually missing out much?!! Dang now I've gotta play through a 2nd time.
It's the first time he asks you to help him and you can say Yes/no. Keep refusing and he starts begging you to help in hilarious ways.
Yes, I tried that too and nearly laughed my ass off. By the way, I think there are easter eggs hidden in Space Miner. I don't know exactly, but I might have stumbled upon one. But maybe it is another funny thing, nothing hidden. Is this correct, Venan guys?
All of the material is pretty out-in-the-open, so you shouldn't have to do anything crazy to see it. No "spin around five times and touch "shoot" eight times or anything whacky like that That said, there are quite a few different references to other games in there that we like. Not exactly easter eggs, per se, just little subtle nods in the text that some people might have noticed. Brandon and Mike mentioned it before, but I definitely have to pipe in and say THANK YOU to everyone here - all of your comments and feedback have been absolutely amazing!
You know, originally we made it so the game went to the Credits screen if you don't help Jeb. But we felt like that was a little too punishing.
Far from a app store gem or killer app. I very much enjoyed the 4-5 hours of gameplay(depending on you). I was addicted the whole way through and always had an incentive to keep playing. The game music gets old and I wish I could have used my own. Also the weapons are not explained when they are unlocked and I had to do some digging to find out what I was purchasing. The dialogue and story are excellent and are the best part of the game in my opinion. Gameplay wise you just fly around with auto fire on watching things die and your ore collector pulling things from across the screen. The gameplay is not what makes this game great. I will repeat that, the gameplay is not what makes this game great. Progression of your ship and the story are what is great about this game. Each zone blasting asteroids is just as forgettable as the next. They inserted some save the space hostage and protect the disabled ships into the game randomly but otherwise its the same thing in almost every zone. I believe the reviewer never sat down and reflected on what he played. Looking back it is a forgettable game with next to no replay value unless you just like a hardcORE challenge or are an achievement whore. Worth the purchase if you have the money to blow, otherwise don't waste your money.
User music is coming. @drunkhobo15 - I'm glad you got 4-5 hours of enjoyment out of it at least. I'm curious what you'd like to see in the game that you think would make it a better value.
Some extra mission types would be good (like the tourist one), they'd bring some variety to the game.
Well, yes. I noticed some hints to other games, but that's pretty open, I have to admit. Let's get conspirative: WHEN you have hidden easter eggs - you surely wouldn't tell us...
Really? There are actually quite a few sectors which I like a lot, e.g. Argos and Triangulus. In fact all the sectors have something a little different in them, it's all the tiny details that make the game polished, complete and interesting.
I just played through my first time, it's one of the only games with a story line I've played that works on the iDevice, IMO. Now it's time to start HardcORE.
Well I certainly thought the storyline here was much better than in the one in the original Asteroids! This stuff kind of bothers me, they make clear from the get go it is all about mining asteroids! The whole game is a fun wrapper around that basic cute gameplay. I feel it's like me playing Indianapolis 500: the RPG and then lamenting that the core game is incredibly repetitive. "You're just racing around and around this stupid track when clearly the only point to the game was the clever storyline between races and being able to fully trick out your car."
Well, I would like to bash you for that - but we are just too nice on TA to do something like that. You admitted that it sucked you 4-5 hours in. I have that feeling rarely with most of the released games lately. There was nearly no game before, that addicted me as much as Space Miner did, on my iDevice. Coming from Textas, you should have enjoyed the game even more than us, with this crazy uncle Jeb. If you're open for skits. And even this spoofing was done in a very humorous and unharming way.
