The original Space Grunts is my favorite orange pixel game (Questionnaire a close second) and I love the idea, from reading the pre release info, of adding card mechanics to the formula. Even without playing it yet that is an amazing price. Even if your a casual fan of turn based games, “Dungeon crawls” or RPG’s you will definitely get value out of your purchase. JasonLL Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2014 399 51 28 Male #11 JasonLL, Dec 3, 2019 at 11:21 PM Just played a couple of minutes and it’s been a very cool experience so far! Very different than the original but I am fine with that. When I read about card mechanics being incorporated throughout the game OrangePixel weren’t kidding. I was taken aback by how much of a part of the core experience these new mechanics are. Every direct encounter is a card battle in the same vein as SlayTheSpire/Pirates Outlaws/Dimension of Dreams/NightOfFullMoon...etc. I was initially under the impression that the card mechanics were going to be more of a “side” thing (admittedly I only read a few things about the upcoming SG2). Thankfully, and a bit surprisingly, it doesn’t bog down the tempo of the game and within a few minutes I was bustin’ crates, setting off bombs, and blasting alien scum with the same fluidity of the original. It also helps that I’m a fan of the StS games. Orange Pixel did a great job, from what I’ve played so far, of mixing both genres together. Definitely worth a look if your a fan of dungeon crawls and/or card battlers. Ijipop likes this. It’s not formatted for the X iPhones! Astounding I know, But it’s not terrible, no buttons are cut off at least. love a lot of this dev’s work, and am not surprised this is as fun(IMO) as the first. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 1,848 171 63 #13 anthony78, Dec 4, 2019 at 3:44 AM Formatted just fine on my iPhone X. I’ve noticed that I can’t view my deck to review it, and that you can’t see what the items (cards) are to pick up on the ground. You can only walk in to them and have them auto add to your deck. Not sure this a mechanic, or a terrible oversight tbh. I think the "swipe to move" would be better on both iPad and iPhone devices, the button control is not that good IMO, maybe just me but I am curious if anyone agree with me. 2. It would be great if we can see what cards remained in the card pool. 3. Portrait mode? combined with swipe to move, the game would become more phone-friendly.
