The story is funny and the gameplay is solid. The on-screen controls work fine on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, the graphics have a nice NES retro look, and the music is awesomely retro. There are cloud saves, support for iPad, and a single IAP to remove the non intrusive ads. I’ve just beaten the first boss and I feel like I’ve played enough to give this a solid recommendation. Especially since it’s free to play with no shenanigans. Hooooooooly crap this is GOOD. Definitely agree that it’s 100% a labor of love and while it’s HEAVILY inspired by Shovel Knight, none of it ever crosses the line of plagiarism. The gameplay, primarily, has nothing to do with SK. This is just beautiful stuff altogether. Super solid controls, gorgeous pixel art, bite-sized hardcore platforming, I think this might go down as one of my favorite platformers on iOS. Highly recommended. To the point where I’d say buy the IAP first, and then try the game out. EDIT: Flappy Knight power up. I am effing DEAD. Game of the Year!!!
