It's not a glitch, even if you destroy the Deathwraith disguised as a girl in the inn, you will confront another one near the rift.
So, let's talk about New Game+ shall we? Go back to book 1. As hinted on Inkle's web site, I'm hunting the final secret -- the grave of the invisible girl. If Inkle's reading this, one question: Should I confine my search to book one, or is there something waiting for me at the end of the epic? Right, the first option is whether you want a merciful or merciless world. If merciless, rewind is disabled. I'm playing merciful because I can explore more options more quickly. Second, you have less stamina and less starting gold. The chief mage won't give you your book, so you'll either have to rely on memory or play with notes. Third, defeating the Sightmaster Sergeant without losing any stamina nets you a Spoiler jewel-studded medallion, useable for ZEN . Perhaps you can also get it if you lose a stamina point or two, haven't tried yet. Heading down to the caves of Daddu-Ley gives you an alternate dialogue (somewhat funny) , and two alternate clues. Spoiler 1) Rewind, go to Cantopani, get the skullcap there, go to the goblin mines, cast TEL when confronting the goblin. Afterward, 'look for Throben'. 2) When at the village of Torrepani, you can escape the Svinn instead of going into the mines by going left, then right, then running all out. On the alternate route, Cantopani has a villager who is wearing a skullcap. The cap is purchaseable for one gold piece but I'm sure you can find dishonorable ways to get it from him for free. It is useable for TEL. Following the first clue and playing intelligently nets us a ring of green metal, useable for ZIP. From that point on in the game I made every effort to find ways to use either ZIP or ZEN, but couldn't find any special uses except as an alternate solution to some puzzles. Spoiler I couldn't find Throben Perhaps playing merciless would have unlocked additional story options? I'm currently in book 2 but haven't found any new game+ content so far. The saved game, however , is marked with a new game+ mark, so presumably some of the information in it will be useful in subsequent books. Why else save that information? Also, it doesn't seem as if New Game+ cares about the contents of your previous game, only that you completed it. Now, as towards finding Spoiler Throben ... Spoiler I've went through as much of book 1 as a I could on merciful mode and did not find any additional options for ZIP or ZEN of interest. The only places I can think of to look is in the Gardens of Briar -- if we can reach them with our new artifacts -- in book 2, or where we normally encounter Throben in book 4. The Gardens of Briar are on the far southern edge of Khare, just across the river from the Festival and south of the Fallen Quarter. I've looked through the Festival but found no ZIP or ZEN useages which might move me across the river. Where else to look? -- The sewers. Of course. -- See if I can capture Vik's ship and dive off to reach the gardens or ZIP there, if possible. -- Look around the fallen quarter and see if there's a passage or something like. There might also be something in the Necropolis, but that is some distance away. Any thoughts or ideas? Also, in book 2, has anyone ever been able to do anything with the one building that has stone food and a stone person in there? Spoiler I've a mind to cast fAL to see if we can rescue that person or the food, but that wasn't an option in the original game . Respectfully, Brian P.
In the ship hold in Khare, after captured, there's the option cast cast ZEN. Since you can get the Jeweled Medallion in New Game+ Presumably, you can cast DOP and then ZEN to get out of the hold before the werewolf is released. Not sure if this changes anything. I haven't started New Game+ yet.
coughcoughcoughcoughcough Spoiler combine all of that you clod coughcoughcough Aaaaand I think in book 1 Spoiler Throben's the guy in the tree. If you want a legit reason, I'm p sure I've seen him, after ending book 4, at the gates of analand, you can run into him and he's like "oi its me throben, you're still cursed?" or something
pendell, Spoiler The final secret has already been solved, if you read a few pages before this one. In book 2, you can get a clue on how to unlock the secret in the Gardens of Briar as you suspected. To go there, you need the green metal ring from book 1, then cast ZIp in the fallen quarter to teleport in the Gardens. Then, you can get a message telling you how to unlock this 'final secret' content on Aliizi/Bria grave in book 3. This final secret is rather disappointing though, it's more like an easter egg. I also expected new content regarding interaction with Aliizi/Bria as a young girl, Aliizi/Bria as an old woman or her sister Elthera (young and old), but there is none. In book 4, there is not much new content as well, the only thing coming to my mind is the absence of the 3 potions at the Throben doors.
Thanks to both Balyos and heckagumshoe. I only read the last page before posting. It is a sixty-five page thread after all. Now I believe I know what I have to do. Again, thanks! Respectfully, Brian P.
After experimentation, I can say that it is the ghost girl from the Inn if you released her; and it's a different unnamed Deathwraith if you didn't. Also, RES doesn't exorcise it, you can still fight the Deathwraith by casting NAP afterwords. If you cast RES and pour the holy water into the rift, you will "hear chanting in an unknown language" (RAP doesn't help) and then a scream. So I'm not sure what this does. After killing the Deathwraith, though, there are no more options.
The hardcore mode add much content? It bothers me having cool things (story-wise) hidden behind a difficult wall.
Game +1 mode can be played either with or without rewind. The story additions are the same either way. The only added difficulty is starting with less stamina and without your spell book, but if you've played through the whole series you should know the spells pretty well, and if not you can find online references. The only major addition is Spoiler a final ending to the Aliizi/Bria storyline, where you learn her ultimate fate .
Yes, I recommend playing twice through. Nothing added after that except you start with even less stamina and gold each time.
I have discovered a fantastic use of the ZOB spell, if you transfer the Rock Demon Tooth to the 4th game. In the "treasury", I was following the ideal path, putting on a show and not falling for the traps, when I got to the Jaguars and had the option to cast ZOB. Only ZOB does this, YOB does not. "The confusion is incredible. The Creature comes into being in a half crouch, but quickly stands, shattering the glass floor of the room. Nobles in fine clothes tumble into the tree branches, making delightful little noises of surprise and horror. The Master of Taxes herself tumbles directly onto one of the jaguars, and other leaps on her and tears her to shreds." Following the choices then gets you 14 gold, and flattens the Master of Taxes trap house. You don't get the life force, sadly (I thought it did, but that was just losing the Tooth) But screwing over the Hunger Games-esque nobles for putting you into a Deathtrap is worth it, in my opinion.
Setting up New Game Plus help Argh, my game keeps crashing when I go through the credits. I either want a Cloud Save or "Use Local Save Game?" So I need either stop the game from crashing so I can make a Cloud Save (I didn't have this problem with the first 3" or I need to find out how to set up a "Local Save Game" I fire up Sorcery 1 and it just tells me it can't find any. Please help.
I found the Garden of Briar in Sorcery 2. Spoiler It's through the Stone House, right before Blind Beggar Theetah in Sorcery 2. If you cast ZIP, you'll go to the Garden of Briar. You'll meet Throben, and if you guess Aliizi was the source of the Garden, he'll tell you the message "Sob over my grave" So we actually jumped the order of the messages, since we had discovered that part before this.
However much I play this game, it seems there's always something new to learn. Previously, I thought the only way to get an ordinary guard's uniform was to get one from the barracks in the outer city of Mampang. But I've found a second way! Go into the alleyways Spoiler To Molka's house. I think it helps to befriend her. After you've done that, ask about getting to the tower. DON'T tell her you want to kill the archmage, obviously, I doubt she'll have it. But ask how you can get past the guards. If you're not already wearing a guard's uniform she'll guess, "Become a guard!" Then she'll go upstairs and bring down a uniform her son happened to have, evidently for a costume party or such like. Very kind of her! I also can't believe how often I've played this game and never noticed that a clue to a major puzzle is staring me right in the face as soon as I enter Mampang. Those eight statues. Specifically, four opposing statues. What else do we know that comes in fours? Spoiler Throben's doors, of course. DOC-HOT (first door) Fal-ROK (second door) -- won't tell you-- ZED-RES (fourth door) 3 of the four clues you need are right there in the entrance way, hidden in plain sight, if you've got the wits to see them! The only missing clue can be found before mampang, in the building in the crater, where the third spell is is noted in graffiti to be invisibility. So there you go, you're all set to march through the doors! Respectfully, Brian P.
I'm pretty sure I posted about both of these things. I know, it's a long thread... There are a few other ways to learn the third and fourth spells for the Throben Doors (besides the poem and the numerical marks in the Inner College): Spoiler One of the visions at the dome in the Eastern College shows you facing the disappearing doors and casting TEL. If you fight twice in the guards' mess hall, you will encounter a hooded figure near the steps who tells you the third spell is invisibility. If you know about the Throben Doors already when you talk to Shadrack's stone, he tells you the fourth spell took Throben's life and suggests that the counter might restore life. Talk to your Doppleganger in the Tower of Mirrors and you will get the opportunity to ask about several spells. Since everything they say is the opposite of what you said, they will answer with the counterspells.
Spoiler is there any special difference to playing through new game plus on merciless? ive heard there is but im not sure, also, in sorc 1 Theres a cave to the right of the caves and river in daddu-ley where you meet libra, is it possible to get in? its been bugging me so much
Spoiler has there been any answers or theories on who that person in the weird god spire thingy is? she says she was made and that we should know, but i dont know ._.'. anybody got any clues on that mystery? is it a + thing only?
You don't have to put your whole post in Spoiler tags. It makes it difficult for people to see what it's about before they read it. I would recommend formatting it as I did in the quote. To your question, this encounter is not exclusive to Game +1, but no one has figured out her identity to my knowledge.
It caps at Spoiler New Game +3, meaning the lowest full amount of starting gold is 6, lowest starting stamina is 4, and lowest max is 14 unless something changes in NG+5 compared to NG+4 and +3.
