You're totally right. I just had to slowly ramp up the bets and then I had an option to make her bet the outfit.

    No, it does not
    give a bigger stamina boost
; it is exactly the same either way.

Understood. I was trying to be more subtle in my hints rather than giving explicit answers, but
    DUD
is the spell you want. You will then have to enter the tower and
search for a key to the other door
    .

For future reference, this Sorcery! 3 guide has most if not all of the counterspells, some learned in-game and some mined from the game data.

What is the scariest thing you encounter in Mampang?

I thought it was the Archmage-Goat or the ZEd curse itself, but then I discovered something beyond.

In the Barrack where I met two guards, I chose the option to fight them. I killed the first one, and when I was going to kill the second, she begged me to spare her life.

As gentle as I am, I did spare her life, but to keep my identity in secret, I told her that I'll cut her tongue. She said something like I would rather kill her than putting her in a low life of a mute dog.

As cold-blooded as I am, I cut her tongue anyway. Blood was all around...

    That night I slept well.

But in the middle of the night, I felt a sharp object on my chest. Someone is pushing a dagger slowly into it. I felt death was coming...

Before closing my eyes forever, I asked that shadow: "Who are you?"

She didn't answer but open her mouth... with no tongue in it.

    ...

Of course... I turn back time...

This time, I decide not to sleep and enter the castle immediately, where she isn't able to enter.

But no matter where I hide.. in a tower, inside the library or on the street... she always finds me... like a vengeful stealth assassin...

From that night, I have to wander from places to places without ever a closing my eyes.

    Because it's my curse.

I personally wrote and/or edited every line of text in the game, and I don't remember that scenario at all. I just went back and checked, and there it is.

There's an even better solution to the problem of the goblin tower if you approach it from the southeast.

Just ram down the wall and walk away.

    Seriously.

Go back, run past the Ram again, then run back past it again to the goblin tower. Eventually the goblins will realize they're no longer trapped and make a mass exodus, and you can just walk in.

Oh, and Courga will reward you if he is your guide.

I'm tempted to see if it's possible to do a no-magic run of the game; to leave my spell book in the chief mage's hut in S1, then go through all 4 books without casting a single spell, not even the one to open the north gate in S2. I suspect it's possible.

Allow the goblins to sack Khare. That'll get me stuck with Lorag. Then just blaze through S3, avoiding the serpents. North, then under the mountains, then south, then into the water, then swim to shore, then right up to Mampang, avoiding the Time Serpent and his ilk altogether.

Pick up the potion of dissolution, fill it up with yaz, dim, and nap, then use the Samaritans to bypass the Throben door. Bottoms up, then it's slashy time!

    Respectfully,

    Brian P.

I really like that scene as it shows the karma you get when treating people with ill will. Anw, great writing you have done there :)

    Im stuck

So ill be using a lot of spoiler tags here, I'm stuck and have tried many many times to beat the game, but always
end up getting imprisoned by the archmage and i always fail to kill him. I read some posts and I guess I need the potion of Disillusion from the woman to keep myself from falling under the crowns power, but where can I find the woman?
I Also would like to know
where is the ZED tower to break the Throbben curse? I heard people say its in the college on the east side, but I can't find that either, which tower is it?
I normally like to do these things myself, but i have tried like 8 times and have not been able to do it, and i just want to be able to finish the game at least once lol.

    Okay, firstly to the
Archmage. There are a number of ways but, if you end up imprisoned by him, you should have an item that you can use on the way back up to him (after coming back to life). But that depends on how you're getting to him. There are direct routes to the Archmage but there might be something to be gained by making your way through his tower. One way to defeat the Archmage involves learning the spells that can counter the Crown's magic.

The potion you mention only really acts as an easy way to contain that magic and you can get it from the beggar woman south of the statue right in the middle.

The tower to break Throben's curse is actually on the west side. It is on the east side of the west college, if you know what I mean! Maybe 4 or 5 towers up on the inside.

If you want more specific details, let us know.

Thanks for this, Brian - very much appreciated. I'd been to that part of the game before, but was foolishly distracted by
catching the plague from the pile of wood in front of the door

So, any success with finding a grave?
Somehow I have doubts that this final secret is even in the fourth part. Invisible girl is, if we don't have any other invisible girls in Sorcery, Aliizi (Aliizi ending spoiler:
    aka Bria
). Also I don't really think that there is a place for a grave in Mampang, nothing suitable (but this is only my thoughts, of course).
So maybe final secret will be reveiled only in New Game+. Something definitely will transfer to new game, and if it will be more like ZED rewind other than Libra rewind, we could be left with necessary things and clues to find the grave in some of the first parts. (still, the same spoiler:
Obviously, if Analander will know that Bria is Aliizi, it should alter some dialogues and actions
    )
It's still just an idea until anyone will find the secret in 4th part and ruin my theory :)

The grave of the invisible girl is definitely in the release version of Sorcery! 4. Inkle said so. Inkle gave the teaser on the blog page as something none of the playtesters found during testing.

    Bottom of Sorcerer's Spike

Has anyone managed to get into the rooms at the bottom of the Sorcerer's spike (ie just after the Throben doors?) My character always says she doesn't want to go in them and walks up the stairs. But the strange character I've met in the courtyard outside the mess hall
(the one with 7 heads who compliments you after thrashing all opponents fighting in the guard's mess hall)
says the secret to defeating the Archmage is at the bottom of the tower.)

You can't enter those rooms, and I think the character is talking about
    the Minimite in the cell

In addition to what BeefJerky said above...

When you meet the Archmage without some sort of protection,
he will tell you the Crown is a Grimalkin made up of three items. That should point you to the three spells you need to counter.

Ways to protect yourself against the Archmage include
the potion of dissolution containing the counters to the three spells
, but several characters you met in earlier games can protect you as well. (I've only played through once without a cloud save, and I used the method mentioned above.)

    The tower you seek is
past the Sleepless Ram and the Tower of Goblins
, or you can approach it from the other side through
    the Tower of Doors
    .

I'm Analander's technique for avoiding Throben didn't work for me. He did not immediately accost me when
I left the monastery after recovering from the bee stings
, but after a few steps through Mampang he showed up.

Nope. If we are talking about same post in blog, then everything it says is "And, of course, there is one last thing...".
So, no mentions that you should find it in 4th. Maybe there is another one post?
But I agree that probably solution is in Mampang, as it's not so fair to tease a secret that you can't yet found.

Ditto, I got in and thought he'd missed me but later when I walked back past the entrance to the wheat fields I felt a familiar grip on my shoulder.

Naggamanteh is the scariest thing for me. The room of mutants isn't pleasant either.

But man, your experience takes the cake. I would never have found that because I can't bring myself to kill needlessly, even after giving up Courga as a god (he was my favorite, but
    Yb'ran
is more useful in this game).

It is very interesting that those doors are there and can't be opened. It seems unusual. I wonder if there is a plan to add something in there?
