Thank you for your thorough efforts! There's one more way to get Holy Water:

If you have a gourd of water when you visit the priest on the pole, you get the option to offer him some water and he will bless it for you.

    I don't think so.
I paddled around seven or eight continuous areas in the present with just 1 stamina and couldn't get him to interact with me until between midnight and dawn.

    Some other items

Some things to add to the item list and other thoughts:

You can get the bracelet of bone from the illusionist who creates the wraith image.
The serpent ring can be found in a hole where Bria's hut used to be atop the mountain.
I've also heard that the serpent ring can be found embedded in the tree where the SSS spell is visible inside the tower (not confirmed by me).
It's possible to get the oak staff from the Sham even if you only give her a simple gift, though it's tricky to be sufficiently flattering.
The Hewing Axe can also be found in the ancient construction site.
The Sun Serpent can be thrown into the whirlwind.

The little boy who steals from you - you have a chance to choose between two items. When he bumps you, he offers you an item back. If you tell him to keep it, he'll feel guilty and while he'll keep that item, he'll give you back the one he stole secretly.

Your route with my comments on speeding it up in the spoiler:
    - Go to Shadrack's, get the Galehorn
    - Go through Elthara at the tree, then up to the bridge
Skip Elthera, what does she give you?
    - Across the bridge using OAL and HUF Skip the bridge as you posit below - Try running up to the northern tower to kill the moon serpent. This could be slower though... not sure if it takes more time to run from Earth serpent to northeast tower, or from Fishtail Rock across the bridge to the mountain pass. I think option two would be faster.
    - Straight up the mountain, kill the Moon Serpent, I stepped downhill to get the Oak Sapling Staff from the Sham (could lose that part) Skip the northeast quadrant alltogether, jump down Bria's chimney and kill the air serpent right away near the priest on the pole. Then go East, kill the time serpent, then head up to see Fenestra. Swing by the fire serpent on the way.(only trekking north/south in the forest once this way, not back and forth)Save the orb to throw in the water serpent's mouth. Light up the bridge on your way from Time to Fenestra so you only have to double back to the bridge to head on to kill Earth, head up to the Moon serpent up north, and point the tower at the final shore so you don't need ZEN to get out of the water. Then back down to the shore. Kill the ferryman immediately, (if you didn't kill him by the chimney) then go swimming. Throw sun in water's mouth and off you go to swim to the final shore.
Alternatively, it might be good to climb the priest's pole and get carried north to the fire serpent after killing Time; the fire serpent sometimes is slower otherwise.

I'm wondering if it would be faster to go to Bria's from Shadrack's place..... I think killing the Air Serpent near the bottom of the chimney means there's probably no boat to take across the Lake, so it might be better to avoid him?
I think it's faster to swim when you don't care about your possessions. Water shows up faster. So might as well kill him early, either way.

    Slightly Faster 4-Day?

I think the following might be a little faster way to cover the last part of the route since it requires minimal swimming. This picks up your walkthrough partway through day 3. If doing this, get the vial of Oil from Fenestra instead of the whistle:

    - Travel north and enter Tinpang
    - Enter the beacon
    - Find and kill the MOON SERPENT (4/7)
    - Activate the beacon and direct it southwards so that it covers the harbor area on the north shore of the lake and just slightly beyond.
    - then head back down and leave Tinpang

    Day 4 (The Ancient Road):
    - Travel south toward the shore
    - Go to the shore and throw the Sun Serpent orb into the lake. Kill the weakened SUN SERPENT (5/7)
    - Talk to the fisherman at the lake and arrange for a boat ride
    - Take the boat out from shore and head towards the middle island. If you positioned the beacon correctly, at the second location on the lake, the boat and fishermen will dissolve and you will end up swimming. Eat your provisions before this happens.
    - Since you are swimming, the Water Serpent will come right for you at the next location in the lake, which should be right by the shore of the middle island. Kill the WATER SERPENTt with oil. (6/7)
    - Swim to shore on the middle island. Ring the bell by throwing something at it to summon the Ferryman
    - Head directly south, conversing with the Ferryman and killing the AIR SERPENT when he transforms (7/7)
    - Go to the south shore and cast ZEN to climb the shore
    - Enter the Xamen Road and finish the game

Testing my theory doesn't seem faster. Boating seems to just save Stamina, not time.

I've only gotten him once and he stayed with me to the end. I did not have a God or Spirit guide when I converted, and I did pray to him for healing after conversion -- maybe one or both of these are what did the trick? Worth noting that because he is so aloof he only heals you for 2 Stamina.

Will be interesting to see if he does anything for me once Part 4 rolls around.

Soon after finishing my run I found a quicker way:

Since I was passing by 3 beacons, I realized I might as well defeat the Time Serpent the regular way. This time around, I kill the Air Serpent in the Klatta-Ban Steppes, then proceed immediately to the Priest's Pole and continue my original playthrough.
After reaching the beacon in the forest, I head south towards the Seven Spirits (using the beacon to turn the forest into a swamp allowing for quicker travel), allow the Time Serpent to defeat me and activate the southern beacon, then transport back and do the whole Fenestra/bridge/earth serpent/moon serpent run.
Upon defeating the moon serpent, I direct all 3 beacons to the Time Serpent, then ZIP to the Horns from the southern beacon.
Jump down, kill the Time Serpent on his island, then swim towards the end, killing the water and sun serpents along the way.

This way I skip most of the eastern section of the map entirely, including the slow swimming across the lake. I managed to finish the game as evening set.

If anybody has improvements (looking at you Indy :D) or just a better route altogether, please say so. Will we be able to crack 3 days? I doubt it, but it's worth trying!

Well I bought the inkle bundle and felt Sorcery 1 was great but really short, now starting 2 and it seems a lot better but my concern is how long is part 2 and 3 roughly as 1 was really short.

The games increase in size with every iteration. Part 2 is more than twice as big and 3 is even longer. And there's plenty of replay value :D

So let's talk Swindlestones. I've found three opponents:

-- The woman in the starting area. You can play forever, but there are no stakes. Also, she's terrible at it. I think they used the tutorial AI from Sorcery! 2 for her.

-- A Dark Elf in the caravan. You can win about 9 gold pieces from him. He is better than any of the players
in Sorcery! 2 and has a tendancy to bluff -- I've seen him bet 3x 3 when he didn't have a single 3 in his hand. As a rule, he tends to bet however many dice he has plus one more , assuming you will have it. And he is very, very quick to call.

When playing with him, I find myself relying more on probability and my own hand than anything he bids.

-- The dwarf to the east of there. He plays similarly to the dark elf and will bet a single food ration.

All the characters , of course, give you clues about onward play.

What about you ? Did you find any other players? Any tips for winning at swindlestones?

Hey! Im a little late to the party but ive got a run through Sorcery! 1 that i'd like to share. Please tell me if i can cut/improve any parts.

So, i take all 24 gold at the start, my spellbook, and buy 4 rations. i set out and go to the village. i buy the bag of teeth, the axe (haggle and you'll get it for 5) and the flute. When i run into the muggers i just do JIG to get rid of them. I head over to the tree, and help the guy down, who hands me a spellbook page. I then climb to the beehive, and cast DOZ, collecting some beeswax and honeycomb. I then head right to the forest, sleeping by the edge, eating the honeycomb i acquired. I kill the bat that wakes me, then continue the next day. I head into the mine, head right, cast DOP, then the one for stupidity (DIM or DUM, i forgot which), and kill the ogre. Collecting 2 emeralds, i head down the other path, kill the goblin guy and leave through the back door. Despite the falling rocks i keep going, and get the Borriskin boots later. I avoid the skunkbear, and in the next village i go to the tavern and talk with the old man. I tell him im searching for the crown and he covers my ale (yay!). I get a bomba fruit from him, and sleep outside. I eat said fruit, then continue to the forest. I visit the witch Allania (Butchered the spelling probably), freeing her with the axehead. I ask for mastery of magic. I then leave after she gives me some gold, and in the next village, i purchase a longsword, and a cloth skullcap. I then ask for work, and i get to dig a cesspit in some guys backyard. I cast BIG and am done in no time, the guy gives me food, and i sleep. Next day, i head downhill, and into the valley, collecting some pebbles before exiting. I then steal the nearby troll's gold and run. In the next village (whilst accompanied by Jann), i visit Glandragor's tavern, and give him his axe. I then visit the waterfall with his note, and sleep there, killing a wolf in the night. The next day i head through the forest, killing the assassin and stealing his gold. I visit the witch, drank the tea she gave me, and gave her the spellbook page, and she then gets rid of Jann. Yay, now i can do magic! Moving on to the last village, i talk to the villagers, and am """"escorted"""" to a place to stay. Holding my hunger for one night, i sleep. the next day i visited the chief, and decide i'll rescue his daughter. Going down, i find the manticore, cast DOZ, and do my best in a swordfight. Upon winning, i go back to the village as a celebration breaks out. I am healed, given gold, and more gold in exchange for the emeralds, as well as the key to Khare.

Anyway thats it. The specifics arent really needed, but the end is 5 rations, 20 stamina, 45 gold, with lots of items. The cloud spell name is SIGAJO if you wanna play that run.

Swindlestones - you can also play one of the fishermen in ancient times on the lake. If you snag a ride with the fishermen, one of them will challenge you while near the first island (the one with the herbalist.). If you win, they agree to take you all the way across the lake (I never made it though - the boat always disappeared before I reached the end of the lake.). If you lose, they dump you out in the middle of the lake.

Had a pretty good play through. 9 days, all serpents defeated and lots of good stuff. Yes, I know it's nothing compared to your speed runs! I either missed or lost a sword though. I still have my Analand sword which is now -2 but I could have sworn I had found a long sword on this play (Klattaman perhaps?) but it was gone at the end. Not sure how that happened. Obviously I wasn't paying attention! So that could bite me in the backside in part 4.

Inkle have really done an incredible job with this. The more I play it, the more I appreciate how much they have added and just how coherent the whole thing is even with all the new stuff. It's a fantastic piece of work. The only criticism I'd have is really something right at the start and might be easily solved - I still don't fully know the aim! Yes, I know where we're going and why but the serpents aspect isn't 100% clear. It feels at the start like we have to beat them to the goal and wipe them out on the way to prevent the Archmage knowing we're coming but then we're told at points that the serpents are waiting for me and actually don't appear to be in any hurry. And it seems that the Archmage already knows we're coming. Or at least, that's the implication from some things people say on the journey. So the premise doesn't seem entirely clear.

But the game itself is wonderful. Inkle haven't once disappointed. Easily my favourite iOS developer.

I'm going to see if I can improve my route a little to see if I can pick up a few more goodies. I'm aiming to do them all without guides so will do what I can and let the chips fall where they may for part 4!
