Just a heads up to the devs, all the promo codes have been taken. Has this game been released globally yet? Looks pretty awesome.
@ Rejera Thanks for bringing that to our attention, I've edited the post the reflect that. If you wanted a code, I should be updating another batch of 5 in about 30 mins or so! Also, we ran into some delays outside our control (but we've made the best of the time by adding in more features originally planned for post-release) so I wouldn't want to give an exact date, but very soon...a couple weeks or so. @ Awp Glad you were finally able to get into the game man, and ever happier that you're liking it! If you could give me slightly more feedback about the intro (it should, i BELIEVE, be the same as the link earlier in this thread) I can bring that up with the team. It's hard to change cinematics of course but if its something as minor as sound levels, I should be able to push it through. As for the explanations: the Shrine tutorial (i.e. Obelisks) will be added in the next update, and EVERY time you encounter a spell for the first time (elemental, rune etc.) it will play that tutorial. Moreover, if you go to options -> battle tips, you can see the counters at your leisure
Annnd here are some more codes for you guys! We're obviously happy to keep giving them out but please do reply if you redeem a code, so that we're up to date on how many more we need. Its not fair to frustrate people looking for codes, so we really would like to make sure those that have been used are marked as used. I redeemed 6KPLHWH6M793. Thanks for letting me try you game! I'll post my impressions of it after I play it a little.
Well. I installed it. Like someone said, the intro is nice. The visuals are clean. The game has a good concept. I would say spend more time on polishing it up. Biggest concern is the actual battling. I had a difficult time executing the second spell, earth. So much so that I couldn't get past that part. It would say cast now and I would, but either I would successfully cast but the enemy would get theirs off first or it wouldn't cast at all. It resulted in me dying over and over which was quite frustrating. You guys seem talented. I can see aspects where you were spot on, such as the intro and graphics. Why not make the gestures a bit shorter though? Cut them in half maybe? It would be quicker to perform them which is probably important in an action game. I'll play it some more tonight though.
Ok. I've managed to play the game a little, and here are my impressions. Opening cutscene was awesome. I like that this isn't another "get to the all powerful thing before the bad guy does" story. The "bad guy" actually got the artifact first. Moving on into actual game play, the gestures work. Unlike the person above, I find that drawing the spells works great. As I'm just staring out, I feel like this is a great base, but I'm waiting for it to get more complex. One thing I don't like is that the tutorial is more of a "explain it if you find it" kind of thing. I would rather the game force me to go to a particular shop, or the transmutation cube, or whatever as soon as it becomes available. Next, I feel that transitions could be smoother. When ever I get into a battle, the characters just kind of "jolt" into place and the transition from wandering interface (displaying keys and potions and the like) to battle interface (displaying your health and the enemy's) could be handled smoother. They also seem to jolt into place rather than a smooth fade in transition. That stuff might be small, but it'll go a long way. Next, let's move onto some bugs that I've run into. First off I'd like to state that I am on a iPod Touch fifth GEN running 7.0.4 Occasionally, when I am in battle the game will just freeze up, now it isn't like a normal freeze up where nothing works, The music still plays and the characters are still animated but neither character will cast any spells or do much anything else. The music even still plays. The first time I encountered this was when I was battling the enemy where you learn the lightning spell but it has happened a couple times since then. Another problem I have noticed is when I go to the transmutation menu, the tutorial plays but after I select the first ring that the tutorial tells me to, and place it in the first slot for transmutation, it will not allow me to select another ring and I am stuck in the transmutation menu. Lastly I'm not sure I like the fact that you have to be connected to the Internet to play the single player part of the game. Is there a particular reason you did this? I think this is a great idea and it reminds me of a combination between infinity Blade and Magicka. I believe I will like to this game a lot better as soon as it starts getting more complex. I began to see this a little bit with the different abilities that you can infuse on your staff and things like that. I believe I will like it a lot more when I get into those things in more detail. All in all, this game shows promise if the above things get addressed. Lastly, what is the price model on this game is it premium or freemium?
i think the game is pretty good, its concept is cool and so is the voice acting. What i think that sould be improved are the dynamics, instead of having to tap everything you think is tap-able (?) i would appreciate a virtual joystick and an action button or a sign that may appear when you walk close to something (tap-able). Opponents might attack you everytime you pass close to them. Also, the history could be improved too; it's been in work for a such a time that i dont think it´d be fair to change it but think about it for a Sorcerer´s ring 2
Thanks everyone for your replies, positivity and constructive feedback; we really do appreciate it! @ Scott glad you enjoyed the game, man. We actually debated for awhile how complex to make the gestures. In theory a single line could be an element-swipe left to right for fire for example- but we found two problems with the oversimplified gestures: 1) The symbol that you are drawing does not become linked in your mind with the element. A left to right line will never be anything more than that. 2) It loses a lot of the flavor of "magical" combat to make the execution VERY easy. That said, if a lot of people have trouble with it, of course we'll change it. But I believe a little bit of practice later, you should be able to use it very well in combat. But if you are still having problems, let us know. @ Rejera thanks for the detailed response! The game will absolutely become both more complex AND harder, not just as you progress but as we keep dropping updates-all we were really going for right now is to have, as you kindly called it, a great "base". Care to elaborate on what you didn't like about the tutorial? Do you mean its dynamic nature? Were you stuck at some point because the tutorials were not spaced properly? Thanks a ton for your bug reports, we're adding them to our checklist, as well as the transition smoothness issue-we know little things can have a large impact, so if at all possible we will improve them. Glad to hear you're psyched for our game! Its going to be a freemium model, and we're working hard to ensure that players who don't want to pay anything don't hit a brick wall, at least in single player. @ Imjhonfre Glad you liked what you've seen, man. Unfortunately, the on-rails experience is deliberate-as with IB- since free walking would take a lot of effort to implement and in a duel game, wouldn't actually add much. However, it should start feeling a lot more open when we add the branching paths. What do you mean by the history? You mean the backstory, or lore?
@fragGames To elaborate more on the tutorial thing, in some games, right after it's done explaining combat, the game will force you to go to the pause menu or where ever you access the equipment customization and other character upgrades, and walk you through each tutorial. That way, you can't go a large chunk of the game not knowing that you can equip things. When I realized that I could equip rings, I wondered how long I had been able to do that because I wasn't alerted to this fact, I just happened to press the pause button and see that the equipment option was availible. Basically, I would have liked some notification saying "you can now equip different rings! Check it out in the equipment screen in the pause menu!" And simmilar messages when the other things like runes and transmutation are availible. Was that a clearer explanation? Let me know if you want me to elaborate further or have any questions.
@fragGames i think i spoke (wrote) without having played much, now the story seems to be better, my bad
@ Rejera Hey mate, I think I understand a little better now: the new update does indeed have a much more "in-your-face" tutorial for everything, including huge, unmissable announcements when a certain piece of equipment is unlocked. But we'll be sure to pay extra attention to the tutorial, thanks for bringing it to our attention!
I've decided that I'm going to wait for the update and possibly delete then reinstall the game so I can start over. Not being able to upgrade my rings through transmutation is really taking a toll on my game. I can't seem beat the first "boss" then as each "day"" passes, the enemies get stronger but I don't. Enemies can now shield, which definitely adds some depth and I look forward to see what else is there but as it stands now, I don't think I am able to get any farther in the game.
i really liked the game. few more questions hey frag-games. below are my comments / feelings beautiful graphics interesting(unique) game play with strong story..cool few questions when you guys are going to release final version? are you planning android version release? is it possible to play / fight with my friends online? social? thanks for response.
@Imjhonfre Haha glad you're liking it better now! @Rejera That's a really bad bug and hopefully is already removed but...re: transmutation tutorial, did you try tapping/dragging the icon on the center top to go out of the transmutation screen? Regardless, its Sunday today but tomorrow I will definitely go over this with the team; a game breaking bug like that needs to be addressed immediately. Even if it is just that you didn't tap the menu icon, that also needs to be changed because if that's the case, we obviously haven't made it clear how to exit that screen. Hopefully the update solves all your issues! @LalaMax3D much appreciated man, thank you very much. The final release is coming very soon but because beta testers are still reporting bugs, its impossible to know EXACTLY when. Obviously we want to make sure the game is running properly for everyone before we release it. But soon! An android version is being planned, yes. We have already started implementing "raid bosses" who will require multiple cooperating players, probably of a high level, to defeat. A PvP mode is in the works as well but that's a little more nascent. Thanks for the questions and feedback, keep em coming!
