Is it just me, or does anyone else have a problem with the fonts, these stickwars fonts that are so popular for some reason. That may be the only issue I have with this game. Give me Arial any day.
Great game. My only annoyance is how it plays the Christmas song Up on the House Top each time you beat a level... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_On_The_House_Top I know the developer probably wanted to use public domain songs... but it's kind of weird.
Your overall point was valid. I'm sure all the graphic designers in the audience just did a spit take with the Arial comment, though.
Wow. sure I was kidding about the Arial thing, but I didn't know there was such a general hate on the poor font. I remember using it a lot for writing reports while I was in college. It was second to Times New Roman. Back on the topic. Maybe the dev can change it, because it does annoy me, and it should be (although I don't know anything about programming) an easy to thing to do. There are hundreds of free fonts out there. Again, I don't know about the legality of using a font made by someone else, probably need to contact the font dev and include him/her in the credits or something. Hopefully they won't ask for royalties
Basically, it depends on the license of a particular font. There are many fonts available as, essentially, open source. Others allow for unlimited use with a small licensing fee. In general, fonts are designed for other people to use them, so you're fine as long as you understand the license. Arial hatred is particular graphic designer quirk -- I'm sure the general population doesn't care. Whatever the developer chooses to use, though, it needs to be in character with the overall visual style of the game. Arial or Helvetica would drain the game of a lot of character, though I agree that the font now used feels a bit stale. But that's all just quibbling. This is great game.
Watched the gameplay video and instantly bought the game. I'm hooked! Intuitive controls, cute graphics, awesome physics and lots of levels = one happy platformers lover ^^
Funny, I'm enjoying this rendition of the song. At least they're not using the Jingle Cats version...
Well done guys. I was waiting for this one and just purchased it. Only played the first level so far, but I can already see you've done a great job with it. BTW, any hints as to where the name comes from?
Old, short vids made and played by the dev. I want to see a vid made by one of us played for an extensive length of time, to see how they handle it.
Initial impressions sound good. Is it leading others to level exit? Do the levels get repetitive? Just curious as there is only so much room on my iPhone and so many hours in a day to play games!
When you walk on a small guy, he follows you (can't be lost, can't be hurt). For levels, as there are many level designs & platforms, different enemis & powers or items, I don't find them repetitive. You are always exploring, it's not a left to the right world You have 3 lives in a level and if you lose one of them, you restart exactly where you died (on the platform of course ). When you lose all your lives, you start at the beginning. I don't need to do 10 times a level because I lose a life at the end, it's nice (Rolando bothers me a lot because of all the deaths). I like a lot the "one world/ one menu screen" (the menu graphics are the same than the world you're playing). Great idea
