Perhaps it will help sales too. You would not believe how much a color change can increase sales at times. Congrats.
Thanks A little late but thank you very much! I really hope Soosiz will do well enough to warrant a Soosiz 2. Of course I'll not complain if the current version should be improved further either. It's pretty awesome as it is tho. So if you, reading this, haven't downloaded this game yet I very strongly suggest to do so, but I guess most of TA already got it, given the front page feature and this huge thread.
I thought I would try to re-download the game to get the new graphic on my iTouch. I did re-download it, the new graphic appeared as the icon in my applications list and I got really excited but in the end it didn't transfer over. Guess will have to wait for the update - which includes what else, does anyone know? Or did I miss it in this huge thread that is hard to follow all the time!
I was just in the app store and your icon looks so much better. Hopefully, it will draw more people to look at the App.
aaaargh ok now this is pissing me off.... i'm in world 7 and don't have time to make sure my fingers are hitting exactly on the "buttons"! the controls could do with a little tweaking IMO... the jump button could be a little bigger, it doesn't even have to look bigger, just not require so much precision, especially when i don't have star-power in waiting. also i think the left/right buttons could be moved a little to the left, often i think i'll be pressing the right button when i'm actually hitting the left, or nothing at all. i love this game but with it being so difficult as it is (especially with no checkpoints) the controls need to be flawless!
And the star power needs to be further away from the jump button. I've hit it accidentally a few times. Personally what annoyed me off about world seven is those damn squids are back.
I defended the music at first, but now, after playing for awhile, I really can't stand it. It would have been so much better if they had found someone to create original music for the game instead of using royalty free music from the Internet. There are a lot of people who would have been willing to make an original soundtrack, for free, in exchange for exposure in the credits.
Play with your own music -- makes a huge difference. I've been doing Air's Pocket Symphony, which just fits perfectly for me; I'm sure you can find something that works for you. Actually, now I'm a curious: anybody else playing it with their iPod music? What artist works for you? (And to save some of you the trouble of typing a response -- yes, gansta' Soosiz would be pretty funny.)
Yeah they should have gotten someone to make original music, maybe they were afraid they couldn't come up with a style appropriate for the game? Maybe now that the game is a critical hit they can show the game to music creators and ask them to make music to match the style of the current ingame music (as well as the original trailer). Only problem is getting someone to do it. Games does a few level specific tunes so someone has to come up with several pieces, and that's not going to be free. I think the creators should try asking Apple to feature the game in their next commercial (don't know if that's free or not).
Not sure if it was the new icon but Soosiz is slowly moving up the top 100 Games list (at #75 last time I checked).
It's a matter of opinion, I guess, but I think Soosiz is way better than Castle of Magic. The controls are tighter, the level design is far better, and the overall aesthetic is more appealing. I lost interest in Castle of Magic fairly quickly, but I find myself going back to Soosiz even after completing it with all of the gold medal rankings.
Good, still has to slash through a lot of big dogs to chart on the overall Top 100 app list, which means it has to jump another 25 places on the games list. Some 5 star reviews from Touchgen and TheAppera came out too.
Touchfoo, how about putting review quotes and ratings from all the big review sites in your Appstore description and your website? So far I've seen stuff from 148apps, Touchgen, SlideToPlay, Toucharcade, Pocketgamer, Apptism, TheAppera and iLounge. Only guys missing are Appvee, Appgamer and IGN. Oh, and this is a step in the right direction concerning the logo: http://twitpic.com/n5h82
Hai again! Surprising the Touch Foos have not posted this yet: Soosiz in on the App Store front-page of the U.K, Germany and a few other European countries (since yesterday). Given that TA was the first place the new design was introduced I thought I'd keep you up to date. Note: I've nothing to do with the lettering; apparently Apple did the composition themselves. I talked with Ville Mäkynen about that in detail, obviously I'm not very fond of the typeface used but it's the dark outline that doesn't work well with this one in particular (and bugs me the most). It should be at least positioned outside the actual type if that makes sense. Changing every instance of said font would (sadly) be too much work right now so I'm not sure if we will see an improvement in this version (1.x) of Soosiz. But if it should do well enough they might look at it again *fingers crossed*. The 'logo' is pretty much fixed in the next version, see the ad above. Fun fact: I hid the six-legged spider in a turned off and locked layer, totally unexpected to see it in the actual ad!
