Yeah, more gameplay elements than walking and jumping would work well. Games like Rolando (drawing bridges, buttons to press, other puzzle elements, etc.) and Castle of Magic (different forms) really exceeded in keeping new levels fresh. I do like how some of the little guys have special abilities.

well, I'm going to echo the general sentiment:

    http://toucharcade.com/2009/10/11/soosiz-a-pretty-amazing-2d-platformer/

The first world, you might feel like it could get old... but the rest of the worlds and levels mix it up very nicely. It really feels like a complete game, and for only $1.99/$2.99, it's pretty amazing. I've really enjoyed the game. Am on world 6 right now, and prob put several hours into it.

The gravity also is really well used throughout. The music is odd though. Not a big fan.

Great thoughts on the review. Unlicenced music is decent but I realised my friends didn't notice cause they never heard them before. Christmas music is growing on me when I win. :) I personally couldn't help but imagine the whole game with Mario Galaxy style themes, like that in the trailer.

Let's hope for sales so they can afford some updates.

More vids (spoilers for 1st and last boss)

I've just started playing and within 10 minutes, have realised that this is possibly the best $2.19 I've spent in ages! The music is poor, but just switch it off in the options and play your own!

The graphics are great, the controls are easy to learn and the level designs are fantastic. Highly recommended!

P.S. This reminded me of Superfrog, the old Amiga platformer by Team 17, for some reason - probably the simple, yet challenging gameplay along with the graphics! Someone needs to port that game...

Thank you arn for the review!

He certainly should not disappear. Sounds like some strange glitch. Did it happen just once or multiple times? We have not seen anything like that happening but will look into it. For now, the only advice I can give you is to try again.

We have confirmed that this is indeed a bug. On some occasions, running along the sides of the arena, when the boss is far away from you, will cause it to disappear. This will be fixed ASAP.

In the meantime, if you continue to have problems with this, avoiding the sides of the arena should help. Thank you for reporting the bug!

In all my days of iPhone gaming, I thought I would never, EVER say this:

Move over Rolando, a new platformer has taken the crown.

    Congrats Touch Foo, super game!

Suggestion for Touch Foo: Since this would be a major gameplay element, maybe for Soosiz 2: Power-ups. :D (Besides just the star of course.) Maybe just could be implemented as more mini- Soosizes. Maybe you could shoot little spikes or something towards the enemies... :D

I've always found Rolando okay and Gomi too slow, but I'm loving every minute of Soosiz. Note that not one comment in this thread complained about the price, something other devs should think about.

Oh, c'mon... Rolando is unprecedented as far as iPhone platformers go.

I'm going to have to agree with you, but in the sense that Soosiz does not kick Rolando out, it just sits right next to it ;) They are two different platformers with different paces and approaches. Hey, Gomi with its slow pace brings something new, so I would say that all three are in the same league.

On a separate note, soosiz is #97 in Games

    Well Rolando yes.
Rolando 2 however, a big disappointment for me.

Soosiz kicks Rolando and Gomi to the curb.

And congrats on making the Top 100!

Well actually it's #94 in Games. Hasn't hit the main App list yet, but hopefully soon.
