Another one: you know how sometimes when you walk on the underside the background changes? Have a boss battle designed on that. Maybe there's a wild boss you can't jump on, but on the topside it's sunny but on the underside it rains, so you get him to catch a cold by luring him below and make him slow down and retract his spikes, easier to jump on. But then you have to race back topside after each jump, cause he sneezes and blows everything on that side away into space. :)

I'm LOVING this game! This is seriously a sweet suprise! One thing I'd like, is different perks than the normal star power. Like in Gomi how there's a super jump, (which might only take... 20 coins) or pausing time, (which might take 50 coins) and etc. Just one thing I'd like a bit more. :D

If I'm thinking of the right levels, the fourth little Soosiz or wetf it is, is located in the "secret" -- both of the secrets involve jumping off the main level course in the right place. If you look around you should find them pretty easily -- I found both by accident.

Loved the little Mario tributes like the black and white last level in World 1 with the fire pendulums. Very nicely done.

I'm having a blast with this game. It's an amazing value for $1.99...

Great thinking there! Maybe we might see some of these things in the future. :)

Having different abilities was something we were thinking about at some stage. As much fun as they might have been, we had to wrap things up at some point to avoid the development process taking forever. They would be great additions, though!

This was a deliberate choice between the annoyance and giving the player enough information. We did think about showing it just once but then there is the possibility that someone clicks OK without reading the text and then not knowing what's going on. It also gives the player some time to prepare himself as there is the time limit. But your suggestion is noted!

Amazing game! TOTALLY worth the money! Had my eye on this when I first saw the preview on TA, before it even came out! It's like Rolando meets Mario Galaxy. XD

Well, no two people can like the same things. After all, that would make this world such a boring place =] I am curious as to what games and genres you are referring to.

After playing a bit more of Soosiz, I still think it is a bit simple and easy for my personal taste. There are some great moments, however, such as finding a secret area, using the star power, and rolling on the ball. If I had to give it a rating on STP's scale (1-4), it would be a good 3.

So what would you suggest as improvements? More detailed, complex, challenging levels? Greater variety of enemies and bosses? More secret areas?

Thanks, I like brainstorming levels for games like this (and Harbour Master). I might think of some more once I've beaten the game.

And I liked the idea of linking abilities to the little soosizs as it gives you more incentive to hunt them out (although the basic gameplay turned out so well we'd have ended up going after them anyway). Imagine one world where the catch to the 7 main levels is figuring out which soosiz to pick up first (fast soosiz to outrun normally impassable lava geysers, then high jump to reach distant platforms, jet pack soosiz to escape high gravity black hole, etc) alongside the extra heart soosiz and several secrets hidden away in the level.

    Near perfection

Soosiz is - at least in my opinion - pretty close to perfection: Controls and graphics/framerate, level design, variety, length etc.

I've got only minor complaints: the coins are more or less meaningless and don't give you an appropriate reward. I think you should get another heart container at least for every 100 coins. Right now collecting them after you already have 100 in complete in vain. Maybe it you could implement a "platin" medal for collecting all coins in a level (and yes: defeated enemies should also leave a coin as mentioned by others.)

The other complaint concerns the music: it is really, really nice overall, but in the boss stages the tunes are far too short and the starting-over kills the atmosphere a bit (also mentioned before).

And... HUGE complaint (well... not really): the loading screen looks rather cheap in comparison with the rest of the game.

Besides these things Soosiz is a at least in my Top three concerning the game of the year (the other ones are Meteor Blitz and DownToZero aka Countdown).

    Thumbs up!

Seriously the loading screen & main menu look horrible. Only great thing about them is the levels with little soosizs randomly hanging around, and change according to the world you're currently on. But the SOOSIZ logo isn't iconic at all, it looks like it's constructed out of diseased balloon animals. It all contrasts painfully with the professionally done levels and world map.

Hell if the loading screen was this:

with him walking around happily and then meeting the little soosizs doing dumb shit (like jumping up for apples or pears in trees only to have them fall and hit them in the head), met with a quizzical/ WTF expression on his face or him shaking his head, THAT would be much better. :D

As for the boss music, the problem is the music is supposed to ramp up from epic danger music in the level to SUPER epic danger music when you fight the boss. Here it goes from epic to some random thing.

And the music I think should be world specific.

I like this tune, make more like this:

Soosiz is a really good game. It has an extreme amount of polish, the graphics are very inviting and sharp, and the controls are great.

I love this game to death so far :)

One thing I would like to recommend, though, is the option to move the controls around a slight bit. There were many times where I thought my finger was on the right arrow, but I was going left. So just a little food for thought, I suppose. I'll probably get used to it, anyways, but it would be nice to have some sort of option for that.

Dare I say even add accelerometer support? :p

But seriously, fantastic game. Great job :)

Actually.... There is accelerometer support. A couple of the blue coin levels have you standing on a ball you roll around or even missing your legs, making it rolando with gravity switching. A ton of fun though! 2 hrs spent on it, and I'm probably... 1/4th done. 26 levels out of 65, but I have quite a few silver medals.

Now, Touch Foo- A lot of people have been wanting a Patapon-ish game on the iPod Touch. I believe you guys have the charm and polish to make a game somewhat like Soosiz, but with the music beat/rpg/fighting game that would eventually be... iPhone's Patapon! Something to consider!
(Now I'm not saying a clone per-say, but a game with that concept to it, with your own twists and such...) So yeah! :D

Hey, I begged for a not-clone-of-but-really-between-you-and-me-a-good-clone-of Donkey Kong starring Mario first!

Kidding, but I'm really looking forward to see where else they take thier highly developed platformer level design skills next.

Can someone help with the water boss? I've gotten to the big guy in the little arena but after eluding him for a few seconds he just disappeared, but I was still locked in (or he was doing an insanely good job of hiding from me). Is this a bug?
