I'd like to think that, too. But no dpad (whose opinion I usually respect, if not always agree with) makes a point of mentioning that the game has already garnered unanimous 5 star reviews on the App Store (30 at last count), then finishes by saying "I'm hard on games." Tough to read that any other way...

Worst part of that review is the part about it being a ripoff of Gomi. Did he start reviewing games last night or something? There's more value in a game that feels fresh while providing good gaming, as opposed to mere "originality" which in itself is not a virtue if not performed well. Gomi is a slow puzzler that was good for its time, but it's completely outclassed in this day and age.

While I know for a fact that it's not derigative of Gomi (it's based off a game for a talent competition) running around spherical worlds and affecting gravity isn't anything new, hell Ratchet and Clank and other games had it long before Super Mario Galaxy had it, but SMG is acclaimed cause they took the concept and ran with it with well thought out levels and a engaging artstyle. Same for Soosiz, first game that nails platforming mechanics in a lighthearted way without sacrificing mechanics for gimmicks.

There's a difference between "fresh" and "originality" that experienced reviews know about. That reviewer obviously didn't. Whatever.

I personally don't like Nodpad as I found myself dissagreeing with quite a few reviews but often was the same people...probably the only thing I would enjoy is daniel's review(eggz brother).

100% agree, and a very good point.

Like EA, why waste time adding a second "original" iPhone control scheme (ie. tilt) to FIFA, when that effort could have been put into other more important gameplay elements (eg even better main controls, or multiplayer)?

No to mention the fact that Gomi's basic game mechanics are taken directly from Katamari... But yeah, whatever: the guy has a right to his opinion. Besides, you have to wonder how much power "official" reviewers have in this particular niche of the gaming industry, considering how often we get "what should I buy?" threads on TA ;).

miswrote it, now fixed. I actually read his opinions/thoughts here and like them so it would probably translate over to his reviews

Ok, I'll stick with this and see what I feel a little later in the game. But I really loved Gomi, so it could be hard to outclass that.

I can understand where Tim and the other reviewer are coming from. Gomi and Rolando are more "iPhone" games and are original. Rolando uses the accelerometer to almost perfection and has a lot of variety with the different characters. Gomi has a lot of extra content.

Soosiz could have been done on another platform and possible could be considered that it was lacking content, but where it really shines is in the basics of the platformers: level design, difficulty and boss battles. These are things that I believe other games do not have in the platforming area. And I still don't get why people get "dizzy" from playing, but I guess it happens, try different room lighting or something.

The New Super Mario Bros is better, I know, but that doesn't make this game any less enjoyable. I'm simply having a lot of fun while I'm playing, and get a lot of satisfaction (without frustration) when I get a gold medal after each level.

I say look at the game based on how much fun it's giving you, not for what it is not or could have been. If after that you still don't get it, well we can't do anything about other reviewers or your review site Tim. IGN and STP are among my favorites.

I think Gomi is one of those games you either love or is average. If you can handle the slow pace, gomi is a fantastic game. But if you need constant action Gomi will bore you.

Why not have a stage where you have a jetpack with limited bursts and you have to make big jumps across gaps with extra strong gravity fields to suck you in?

Or how about stages where you skate across frozen lakes and you can jump and break the surface and swim below for extra items, but the surface will freeze and trap you underwater if you don't leave , forcing you to travel through underwater caverns instead of the icy surface.

    Just brainstorming here.

sorry dude, i know yer fairly well respected on TA and all that, but i always find your game taste to be the complete opposite to mine. in nearly every case you dislike a game i think is amazing and vice versa! i dont trust your reviews in the slightest. different strokes for different folks i guess ..

This game can hold its own without plus+ or achievements. Normally I like to earn medals and all that, but I've been having enormous fun with Soosiz without all those extras. Lovely efforts from the dev. Congrats on the great game.

@STP_Tim: Gomi is sloooooooooooooooooowww. For similar gameplay this is simply better than that and Katamari.

    OPEN FEINT!

it's a little bit annoying that everytime is the dialog for the blue coins level...maybe you change the the style of the blue coins level(maybe in blue), that would be better so you can see that it is something like a bonus level

    NICE GAME!
