More sophisticated? What can be more sophisticated than playing full quality console games (which the NGP offers) out of your pocket?

So PS3 titles aren't sophisticated? And show me one laptop that can pull off better graphics than an NGP. Unless you paid over $1000 for your laptop, chances are it has an Intel GMA graphics chip, and you will barely be able to play anything, even if you turn graphics down to 640 x 480 with all settings low.

At home gaming is best done on a self-built desktop computer and on the go gaming is best done on something like an NGP.

Have you played a NGP? Has anyone had extended time with one yet? You keep throwing around the phrase "full quality console games" but so far all I've seen is trailers and tech demos. What makes you think publishers are going to be willing to float $20m budgets for games like Uncharted on the NGP? It just doesn't make sense.

Yea me too, because some gamers will be like WOW! uncharted on a handheld but be like but I have this on my PS3 already why spend half the money to buy it again but it's half good.

Because the developer said so? The same Uncharted on PS3 is coming to NGP. Show me one iDevice game that can match the depth of Resistance Retribution on the original PSP. Treyarch is working on it's own full-fledged Call of Duty title for the NGP. A full game with 16-p online multiplayer. What to iDevice owners get? Zombies. No campaign. No multiplayer. And that too...zombies with crap graphics.

You do understand that the economics just don't work out for these supposed new full fledged console experiences on a portable device, right? I mean if all you want to play is watered down PS3 ports on the go, then that's cool I guess.

Because the NGP is so powerful. What I've seen so far, is that it will have full quality console games. Games people know and love, such as Killzone,Uncharted, and COD: Black Ops. You don't see that on an iDevice.

But that new alienware laptop with built-in 3D is said to be the most powerful laptop.

But there is Modern Combat 2 which is good as far as the iphone goes. like K?! said stop comparing them. They are completely different things directed towards different people. This thread seems like a place for people to talk about their "console wars".

Stop jumping to conclusions. Some games will be watered down PS3 ports but not many of them. Most will be games of their own made for the NGP alone.

And would you rather play a watered down PS3 port or a watered down knock-off of a watered down PS3 port like Shadow Guardian?

You're assuming everyone here has a PS3. I don't have a PS3 or want one. I'm a PC gamer. And I love being one. But I don't get PS3 exclusives...I get PC exclusives. Same with someone with an XBOX 360. I wouldn't mind watered down Uncharted...it's better than Shadow Guardian or no Uncharted.

Is it under $1000? If you want PC gaming please stick with a damn desktop. You're going to carry a mouse around too? Playing with a trackpad is impossible. Not to mention crammed keyboards.

I don't think you know very much about what goes in to a video game if you think that system specs automatically make for a deep, "full console quality" experience. That type of game that you're looking for takes lots of time, huge development teams, and tons of money to produce. I'm sure there will be plenty of ports of PS3 games, but any new IP will be few and far between.

I will leave this here. If the NGP doesn't appeal to you, don't get one.

Stop comparing the two devices. The iDevices and portable multimiedia and web devices and happen to be nice casual gaming devices as well. The NGP is a dedicated gaming device. Games will cost a lot more, have a lot more depth, significantly better graphics, and more developer support.

As long as the App Store $10 pricing barrier is there, then games on the iPhone won't even be half as good as NGP counterparts.

Now of course the iPhone will sell more. that's not what Sony is going for here. Both devices are targeted at different markets. The iPhone is for people looking for an all-in-one device, and there are many more people looking for that over people looking for a dedicated gaming console that gives PS3 quality graphics.

In conclusion, don't compare them. They are different devices targeted at different people. iDevices will always be all-in-one devices, while the NGP will have far better games. It's personal perspective. If you don't care about game/quality and depth, and something like Shadow Guardian will suffice for your entertainment and eye-candy needs (you want a multimedia device as a part of it). Please buy an iPhone. But if you want a deep, immersive, graphically impressive gaming experience, buy an NGP.

hahahaha i know it's funny just pick which one you want NGP is a better gaming device while iPhone is a phone, that has a gaming developer that will clone all the good games NGP has and will bring it for your iPhone.

And how is having watered down PS3 ports a bad thing? If I can play PS3 games on the bus to school or in an airplane that's amazing.

The games aren't as good though. You can't compare CoD and MC2. One is leagues above the other. Same with Halo and NOVA 2. Uncharted and Shadow Guardian.

Why? App Store $10 price barrier. When you are limited to pricing something at $10, you can't make it as good.

I'd argue that you are the one who isn't doing the reading. Well, not reading anything outside of http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/ anyway.

Oh, I know alot of what goes on inside of a video game. I know that it actually takes developers to make the game, but with system specs like these, it will allow them to add much more content and be less restricted with what they can do. I'm not saying that it won't take time, and be hard, but with the NGP, you are given more to work with, and with that comes a full console quality experience, and more profit.
