Well no "switches" were aywhere and like I stated earlier for some reason none of the buttons on the ps3 worked.
I don't know how amny times that joke has been used on this site but it get's me everytime, I had an N64 at one point and remember doing that, I still do that with my Gameboy Color .
It did actually sort of work on the NES, I believe the metal connection points on the carts suffered from corrosion and blowing on them would (in theory) blow away any bits of rust or buildup. I've never encountered another console where this would even be necessary, even the top loader worked fine. That old front loading NES was a fickle POS that barely worked (but when it did it rocked your 80's socks off).
Yeah I remember an article trying to scientifically figure out if it helped. I think the conclusion they came to was that it may have helped temporarily, but the moisture in your breath probably ended up speeding up the process/making it worse.
